  1. That is the trend. The new Chromebooks don't have a huge a Hard Drive but give you lots of free Google Drive space. When you consider what your smartphone tracks about you, if you're one of those tin foil hat people that thinks the government is out to get you, you'd never get one. It always knows where you are, Google Now tracks your web usage and suggests things you might like. My Google Now asks me if a certain place I've spent a lot of time at is important to me or not. So it knows if I'm at the Gym or at Work. Big Brother indeed.
  2. I think this is evidence that opinion polls are crap.
  3. It's an insider plot by Google to make you switch to Gmail and Google Docs.
  4. Here's what I don't get. How does the Union suggest they fix the problem of part-time and casual staff? If Part-timers aren't given regular shifts then that's wrong. But if Casual staff expect a minimum number of hours then they just want casual staff to be removed. In any retail operation, you need a mixture of full and part time staff. If a person that's regularly scheduled to work is sick or on vacation you'll either have to have the staff that's there pick up the slack or call in someone that's otherwise sitting at home watching TV. I'm guessing the Union probably has some silliness about a minimum level of staff so the pampered full-timers don't have to work too hard, so having some casual staff available is essential. What is the LCBO going to do during the Holidays when they bring in even more causal staff? Will those staff require regular shifts all-year round? You know the Liberal government won't allow for more money seeing the way they handled teachers. Got a day to go I guess. http://www.thestar.com/life/food_wine/2013/05/15/where_to_get_booze_if_strike_hits_lcbo.html
  5. Convenience does come with a price. This past Sunday I spent $11 for 16 cans of soda at a Macs Milk I could walk to instead of going to a grocery store to spend much less. I'm sure some brewers and wineries might get better treatment than the LCBO and the beer store than can pander the big players. There was also news that came to light recently that the LCBO made brewers charge an inflated price because they have a fixed markup. Do you think a private company would do something so daft?
  6. It's possible because the overhead won't be nearly as high. But at least it'll be more convenient.
  7. That $90,000 could have purchased an Economic Action Plan TV ad!
  8. I get the Sun and remember this one. He/She is actually better looking than many they end up using.
  9. I'd imagine if the lady in the OP looked like this, no one would have questioned him/her. http://www.xtra.ca/public/National/Sun_Media_features_transsexual_Sunshine_Girl-13571.aspx
  10. I'd imagine that code was probably written to deal with Lobbyists. This guy wasn't lobbying Duffy for anything.
  11. I've always heard that the Greens are closer to the Liberals. More Fiscal Conservative than the likes of the NDP.
  12. Great! This'll be newsworthy when they manage to elect someone outside of BC now.
  13. I think blowing 20 point leads in BC and stalling the passing of a budget in Ontario is doing a fine job of that already.
  14. T-2 days, who thinks they'll actually go through with it? Canada Border Services will be swamped with people trying to smuggle boos across the border if this happens.
  15. Tim Hudak and the Toronto Maple Leafs are calling Adrian Dix a choker..

  16. And that guy is an idiot. But it's not like Boston fans are always great guys. Apparently a Leaf fan got punched in the back of the head after Game 2 in Boston.
  17. Yeah they would identify as one sex or the other. I'm not sure if policies should be made based on the small percentage of the population that are born with both sets of reproductive organs.
  18. I just read the column about Andy Byford, he appears to be doing a good job. He seems to do Rob Ford better than Rob Ford sans the fat jokes. She does echo the sentiments of the likes of you that Ford's agenda has been nil once he reach the halfway mark. It's good that Byford is looking at eliminating or at least greatly reducing the number of token collectors once Presto is implemented. Having people make $60,000 a year plus sitting in a booth should be offensive to anyone that does any job that actually requires a minimum amount of skill.
  19. I think we should be able to buy Liqour straight from the brewer and completely sidestep the Liqour Store.
  20. This is sort of like how the US government keeps defence spending up or incarceration up to preserve jobs. The public sector drags it's heels on innovation to preserve jobs in Canada too. Nothing new here.
  21. Now that the Leafs are done, this freakin' team needs to start putting together some wins. They aren't out of it, and have shown some promise lately but they have to start winning series'. Beating the Red Sox on the weekend was an excellent start.
  22. I just heard on the radio that she also wants the plan to toll the HOV lanes to be scrapped. That's the "revenue tool" that was the least objectionable to drivers. I'll assume this means she outright rejects most, if not all of them.
  23. I guess. I'll need a new phone every 2 or 3 years to keep up with the fast pace of technological advances but I don't see myself needing a new PC for awhile. Same with Video game consoles. There haven't been new state-of-the-art consoles since 2006. New ones will be unveiled this year but I predict sales will be slow. Also there are these Chromebooks that are laptops basically running a tablet OS. They also cost much less than top-of-the-line tablets.
  24. In Ontario the Convenience Store Lobby wants the right to sell select Wine and Beer. The Government isn't indicating it is close to alloying it. Though a prolonged strike might change their tune. The Ontario PCs have said they'd look into it should they be elected. There are places other than the LCBO that you can get beer and wine but they aren't anywhere nearly as convenient as a corner store. Just as you say August, the people who own these stores are usually immigrants trying to eek out a living. Long hours and low pay, doing a job that many people born here would refuse to do. The government is making tobacco and lotteries less lucrative for them, so it's an example of a Public Sector Union and Government stifling small business owners to maintain their ridiculous monopoly.
