I'm not sure, they're the only allies he has left. But who knows. You could tell his language was very lawyered up. We'll hear more during his radio show on Sunday I suppose. Here's the Letter.
-
He spoke now because the Executive Committee drafted a letter pleading with him to say something. He probably risked them all resigning en masse if he didn't deal with it.
-
It's the same as with the Duffy thing. It happened, who do you blame? Is it good enough to blame higher ups in the IRS or does the buck stop with Obama?
-
He speaks! Denied he does crack and that he's an addict. Didn't want to comment on a video he's never seen. I wonder if people will leave him alone for a bit now, I doubt it.
-
If anything, John Stewart seems offended by the IRS scandal. For what it's worth.

That's not the issue. Gambling addicts will find a way to get their fix. They can already go to Woodbine to gamble. At least Table games are a little fairer than one-armed bandits. But even if the goal is to get rid of Woodbine and its 7,500 jobs, people can drop all their money playing scratch and sniff, Pro-Line or online. It's naive to thing that blocking this casino will stop an addict from gambling. A full-fledged Casino would attract people to the location. It's right next to airport, people might go to the Casino and instead of going for the $35 buffet, they'll go to some of the local eateries across the street or go to the Woodbine Mall, which from what I hear, is dying. But yeah it is a digression, I just believe Ford opponent are starting to do what the GOP are doing in the US with Obama. If Ford's for it, they're against it, regardless of the practicality of the proposal.
-
That was for the Downtown Casino likely run by an American Casino Company. There was a 24-20 vote after to deny expanding Woodbine. Woodbine is in the Ford's backyard, the economically depressed area Rexdale. Woodbine is already a great employer for the region. The City Staff recommended expanding Woodbine, there's already lots of gambling going on there, AND if a casino gets built in Vaughan or Markham instead of the one downtown it'll be in direct competition with Woodbine and/or Rama. There's no logical reason to vote against expanding that facility unless you just want to stick it to the Ford's. They actually have the largest parcel on undeveloped land in the city and a large faction of council would like to keep it empty.
-
But then you have people on Council that clearly are voting for against things simply because Ford is for it. The vote not to expand Woodbine was clearly a vote against Ford and not for the good of the city. Both sides play petty politics.

There's ample evidence to suggest the IRS specifically targeted Right-wing organizations. Why else would that lady take the 5th? The question is, what did Obama know about it? He says he knows nothing. He in fact said he learned about it when the media reported it. Is this an example of plausible deniability or that Obama is that out of the loop?
-
Apparently the Executive Committee is drafting a statement that they can't go on like this without the mayor speaking out about these allegations. Even if he denies it and a video does come out, it'll be better than this. Ford's acting like a baby right now. People are giving that hypocrite Paul Ainsley a pass for telling bold face lies about his Drunk Driving incident. Rumour has it that one of the reasons he fired his Chief of Staff was because he said having a party for the football players on the team he was just fired from was a bad idea. (Massive Facepalm)
-
Going back to one of the previous Rob Ford "scandals". The Councillor who told Ford to leave a Charity Ball a while back because he was drunk was recently charged with a DUI. Hypocrite much? http://www.thestar.com/news/city_hall/2013/05/23/paul_ainslie_roadside_check_leads_to_3day_licence_suspension_for_city_councillor.html Well not a legal DUI but one of those stupid new Ontario laws that suspend your license and impound your car for blowing between 0.05-0.08. Not that it means Ford wasn't drunk at the ball, but I just find it interesting that the source was this guy was the one that said he was embarrassingly drunk.
-
His Chief of Staff appeared have tried to buy off a Senator. Who was forced to resign.
-
Canada is disproportionally represented by older white people so it would stand to reason the party that may appeal to a larger percentage of the population that the others would appeal to a good number of older white men. Doesn't mean the party only speaks to them and rejects other groups. So saying the CPC is an Old white person party is dismissive and trying to equate them the GOP of the US. Would you find someone saying the NDP only appeals to "under-employed hipsters that are supported by their parents" pejorative?
-
I'll agree with that. But those are all huge scandals compared to dealing with a bunch of rogue senators, who were kicked from caucus and Wright was made to resign. If one were a conspiracy theorist, these scandals would give Harper the perfect opportunity to abolish the Senate.
-
Well it says the party only appeals to one type of person. It's like saying Pro-Lifers are just old white men that want want to tell women what to do. So you're saying only men are Pro-Life?
-
Evidence that the corruption is widespread. As far as I know it's isolated to 3 senators and a Chief of Staff. I wonder do people believe Obama didn't know about the IRS and AP scandals? Do those same people believe that Harper told Wright to pay off Duffy even if he's denied it?
-
The breakthrough in the 905 area of the Greater Toronto Area the CPC saw in 2011 was due to them trying to appeal to immigrant voters and younger voters. Saying Conservatives are old white people is just plainly ad hominem.

As we, in Canada, Freak out about $90,000 in expenses by a Senator, the US is dealing with some pretty interesting scandals. http://communities.washingtontimes.com/neighborhood/common-sense/2013/may/21/irs-benghazi-and-press-scandals-are-poison-democra/ I'm not an expert on US politics but it appears even people on the left admit that having the IRS target Conservative Organization specifically is a pretty big scandal. If Obama didn't know about it, shouldn't he have? The other one would be the AP scandal where the Justice Department tapped private phone records of reporters because they were investigating a foiled terrorist attack in Yemen. Imagine if CSIS tried to spy on the CBC? People in this country would freak! Oh and there's that Bengazi thing. I'm curious why little has been made of these issues on this site. This could really mare Obama's second term like the Lewinsky thing sort of marred Clinton's second term. I'd imagine even the Liberal media find what's happened pretty offensive.
-
Well since everything is speculative, you could have reporters colluding to making up the idea of a video that doesn't exist. If a video that never existed never comes out then you can just say the appropriate price was never offered to these "drug dealers" and they deleted the video. Never to be seen again. No one can prove or disprove that they made up the allegation. But the damage would have already been done. I'm shocked it's been almost a week and no one, other than these 3 reporters has seen the video yet. Again I'm making up this theory and have no evidence to support any of it. Also the fact that Mayor Ford has largely kept his mouth about the issue this week isn't really helping his case. Even the "conservative" media is starting to turn on him because he refuses to comment.
-
An official from the school said it had more to do with all the media coverage he was attracting to the school. Timing is rather odd though.
-
Doug Ford came out today and said the allegations are false. People want the mayor to come and say the allegations are false. It would appear he's lawyered up and trying not to comment. Some would see that as an admission of guilt, but it's not, he did say it's all ridiculous. Now if he did call a press conference and deny deny deny, would that be enough for everyone unless a video does end up being released? I doubt it would.
-
So I guess the new wrinkle in that story, other than that hilarious Jon Stewart segment about the issue, is that some people want to do a "sit-in" at Ford's house wanting more information. Some people have way too much time on their hands.
-
In 100% agreement there.
-
I've got to admit Ford is mishandling this thing. He didn't say anything new about video today. His talking point is: "it's ridiculous" and "it's another example of the Star going after him". He's wrong, it's not the Star. Gawker went with this story and is trying to raise the $200,000. He'd know if he smoked crack or not. Then again the video could be a fake and he's waiting to see if someone actually will buy it to comment on it. None of us can comment in an informed way on either possibility but It'll be interesting to see how this turns out.

If you go to something like a Ribfest or the EX. You used to have to go to a fenced off area to buy and consume alcohol. For the past few years you haven't had to do those things. http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2011/05/23/ontario_on_track_to_loosen_liquor_laws_by_summer_attorney_general.html
