  1. Ok, well my bad. They invaded those other countries in response to the 6-day war. Can't really blame them for responding in that manor can you?
  2. Interesting theory, but they didn't withdraw from the Sinai because they couldn't. They withdrew because of a peace treaty. I think I could get with your theory if they occupied parts of Lebanon in the conflict in 2006 but they completely withdrew. I have no problem labelling Israel as a US puppet state. But without America's backing, I don't believe there's anyway the Jewish state could survive.
  3. Permanently? They didn't take over Lebanon in 2006 did they?
  4. Attack is different than invade and occupy. They did occupy the Golan Heights, but they're using it as a sort of DMZ between them and Syria.
  5. No it's not. It it were, they'd have stayed in the Sinai and have invaded Syria, Jordan and Iran by now. And Israel is hoping to maintain the peace treaty with Egypt. If they had imperialistic ambitions, they'd go Operation Barbarossa on Egypt. I was simply saying that Pearl Harbour was, in fact, a pre-emptive strike.
  6. If you want to compare any attack to Pearl Harbour, I suppose, any pre-emptive attack can be characterized that way. I don't think anyone can justifiably compare Japan's imperialistic ambitions in 1941 to Israel's treatment of Palestinians in 2013.
  7. I guess not. They'd get completely pwned though. The same people who are bitching now would accuse Israel of war crimes for defending themselves. Mutually assured destruction is a very effective way of keeping the peace.
  8. Well I don't think men can make decisions like this. I think women might feel different about allowing men to use the same public bathrooms as them. I accidentally walked into a women's change room at a gym, I was worried I would be thrown out of the place. And as much as you'd like to consider transgendered man a woman. They physically still are men.
  9. I think we need more threads about Syria and Israel

  10. That's exactly what they were thinking. They knew they probably couldn't beat the US in a sustained war so they wanted to take their Navy out completely. Had the Aircraft carriers been at Pearl Harbour they may have been successful too. 6 months later they tried to finish the job at Midway but the US won. Some would say by luck because dive bombers were able to attack Japanese Carriers while they were switching ordinance so the bombs completely sank 3 of the 4 of the Carriers in less than an hour.
  11. There was a Human Rights Tribunal case in St. Catharines, Ontario where a transgendered person wanted to use the woman's change room. The case ended up being dropped. Will there come a time when all establishments have to have 4 bathrooms or women will have to accept the fact that men that identify as women can use women's only facilities?
  12. Well the lack of foresight shown by this government is shocking. The Mississauga plant was already under construction, you don't have to be an expert to know that cancelling those plants would have cost a lot of money. The $40 million they said was an outrage enough, but it appears they lied about the initial cost. Lying, of course, is something this government loves to do. A more apt comparison would be a mayor in Toronto cancelling the rail-link to the Airport because of Nimbys to win an election after construction of the rail-link had been started.
  13. They don't have a peace treaty with Syria like they do with Egypt. So yeah, it's sort of like Korea, both sides are in a dormant state of conflict.

Well Canada isn't all about Free Speech. Hate Speech is illegal. I think the mods are trying to avoid people who always go to personal attacks, which has become the hallmark of interweb discussions. I do disagree with being sent to the Penalty Box for using creative ways to describe the Ontario Liberal Party. But them's the breaks and I won't do that anymore.
  15. Well private energy providers are definitely looking to scam you. Sign up with them, you'll certainly see your bill rise. But the Liberals Green Energy Policy has steadily raised the price of electricity in this province, almost to a point of making Ontario less competitive with other areas of North America. I'm not all that upset with Smart Meters but the Green Energy policy has been shown to be an utter scam that just makes us feel better.
  16. Yeah but Tim Hudak will be worse!!! The talking point they're going with now is really annoying because it paints the argument that they did what everyone else would do. The people of Oakville had to undergo a massive PR campaign, to the point of bringing in Erin Brockovich, to try and get that plant cancelled. And only when they stood to lose that seat did they cancel the Mississauga Gas plant. During an election campaign when construction had already started. The Liberals were stubborn about putting these plants where they wanted. They could have easily retrofitted the old Lakeview Power Plant in Port Credit but I guess that didn't spend enough money. Now they're putting these plants on Butt Bleep Nowhere, where the cost of delivery will be a great burden. But no one cares because Wynne says she'll lower auto insurance.
  17. Israel poses a threat to North Korea? Doesn't Iran fund the type of terrorism that causes Israel to be such a secured state in the first place? I'm sure they'd attack Israel if they had a reasonable chance of success.
  18. How can you cite a negative? Perhaps one could say that he's never been caught at a Rub and Tug. People seem to like catching him going into KFCs and Liqour stores through.
  19. This team is absolutely horrible. These moves have made the team worse. You can't even pinpoint a part of the the team that needs to be improved. It's been all bad. Alex A could get fired for this. He was the boy wonder of GMs a few weeks ago and now just about everything he did has been an utter failure.
  20. That's what they did a few years ago. Benefits were slashed because the companies said the couldn't hold the line on rates at the previous levels of minimum coverage. There's a percentage of profit built into auto insurance. The government is saying companies simply have to take less of it. In theory of course.
  21. I'm interested to know what threads are so ignorant they'd cause people to quit.

Two say they are not posting because of ignorant people. Haven't read anywhere near all the threads but am interested in knowing what or who they consider ignorant.

  22. As said in another thread, I think, the issue that'll define the Ontario Liberals will be how they choose to ding the population for additional transit funding. If they NDP still chooses to prop up the government if they choose to add to the Gas Tax, HST or tolling the 401 they'd be branded as hypocrites. How can a party demand a reduction in Auto Insurance but allow the population to be dinged with some of these revenue tools.
  23. Great comeback game Saturday. Lots has been made of Caryle's line matching this season. I saw on TSN that Kessel was able to rack up a whole 4 minutes of ice time without Chara on the ice with him. Should be lots better at the ACC with the Leafs getting the last change.
  24. IRON MAN 3!!!!!!

  25. Which goes to my initial point that The Big Move is a big ploy to for the regions to directly subsidize transit improvement in Toronto and urban Peel. I actually heard on the radio that the Liberals are taking another look at the Big Move, perhaps they realize how bad it looks. You can get around using transit in the 905. But if you're going from one community to another it's not worth your time (if you have a car). Trust me, people who live in the 905 and work downtown have made an important choice. They're probably well compensated to work downtown but prefer to live in a place where they can have some space. It's clearly more important to have a nice house than have a short, stress-free commute. They'll pay a road tolls and until gas is more expensive than Transit they'll choose to drive. But the people that choose to live AND work in the 905 stand to suffer from these plans, especially when they don't even really contribute to congestion that is making people uncomfortable.
