The Toronto Bixi program is in deep financial trouble. Many on the left think their loan should be forgiven and the TTC even thinks that the TTC should run it. I think it's mostly a tourist novelty. If you live downtown you're either taking transit or have your own bike. They just started a bike share program in New York City. It remains to be seen if it will be successful there. When I was in London they had a similar station outside my hotel. I was tempted to try it but I found the bikes looked rather lame and I thought that walking is a better way to see a city than being on a bike.

The Military has been the defacto dictator for the coming on 60 years. Apparently Morsi was trying to institute some civilian oversight over the military. Perhaps that's why they were so agreeable to give the guy the boot.
-
Here's my question. In a Western Democracy, we have checks and balances so a zealous elected official can't give himself Emperor Palpatine type powers. Egypt has a Supreme Court and a Legislator, where were they to stop Morsi. That's the beauty of a democracy, we don't need violence to effect change.

We see from Libya and Syria what Islamists do when they feel slighted by their leaders.
-
Harper also made the Egyptian Army depose their leader. You heard it hear first.

Ken Coran, the head of the Public Secondary teachers, is running for the Liberals in London-West. Same guy who was campaigning for the NDP last year because of Bill 115. What an (expletive) hypocrite. I pray this guy doesn't win.
-
So Doug Holyday is running for the Etobicoke-Lakeshore seat. I'd say he's a lock.

Remember Dalton lost his first election. What is Hudak doing that's so horrible? Who's a candidate that'll be better. The PCs went with the soft centrist with John Tory and that didn't work. Hudak lost because his platform didn't differentiate itself enough from what Dalton was promising. Since then Hudak has come out with several policy statements to identify him as a stark alternative to the Liberals.
-
The Windsor seat could go NDP. Dwight Duncan was behind shutting down the Racetrack there. London and Etobicoke should/could go PC. I'm not sure about Scarborough. As for Ottawa-South, Can't see that going anything but Liberal, that's McGuinty's seat. BUT! It would be a fantastic rejection of him if that seat goes PC.
-
How about the Ontario Liberals. They just had to call 5 Byelections. At least this guy is staying until the next election.
-
I don't think any potential mayoral candidate has the guts at this point to oppose a Scarborough Subway. See Karen Stintz. They all support the Subway but can't decide how to pay for it. Now the Province is threatening to pull the funding if they don't make up their mind.

No evidence that these protesters represent ALL Egyptians. That would be like saying a protest like this "Stop Harper" foolishness is representation of All or even most Canadians. In the US, no one would consider opining that the Tea Party represents Americans, even though they're very vocal opponents of the POTUS.

I think you have the makings for, if not a civil war, a big clash of ideals in this country, that could get very violent. You think the MB will just lie down and let their guy get turfed like this? How is the military deposing an elected official any different that what we see in other nations lead by militaristic dictators? Apparently there's going to be another election. Can Morsi run again?

I've heard that this dynamic duo can use entrapment as a defense as clearly the RCMP could have stopped them before they did anything illegal.

Dude!!! wouldn't it be cool if we became radical Jihadists? I'll buy the rice cookers, you buy the nails.

Sexist remarks FTW!

These "suspects" sound like real space cadets.

That's what I want to know. It sets a pretty cruddy precedent that a democratically elected government, be it an Islamist government, can be overthrown by a loud crowd.

They don't have to have a good reason, they just need a reason. Of course it's a scare tactic. But it's not like anybody can get it to change. Regulating Oil Prices doesn't work either. Or at least that's what I'm told.
-
Why are you asking me to defend the people who set the price of oil. I'll admit it's a scam but you can't deny Egypt plays into this current spike. I don't know if you're ever heard of this site. http://www.tomorrowsgaspricetoday.com/ It's run by a former Liberal MP Dan McTeague who made the insanity of Gas Prices his business. By no later than 5pm every weekday, he'll be able to tell you exactly what the price of gas will be the next day. He's never wrong. Today he even partially attributes the spike to Egypt
-
So you dispute the conclusion of the article you quote? Any reason Speculators have to raise the price of oil, they'll do it. Even if Libya only supplies oil to Europe it'll still effect the price here. Tomorrow's Gas Price Today says Toronto Gas will go up about 1.3 cents a litre tomorrow. You don't see a hike like that unless there's a reason. I remember the price of gas in Ontario once went up over 10 cents overnight because of distribution fears due to a Hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico. Ontario doesn't get any of the oil but the prices still went up here. $102/barrel isn't even approaching a record but it's higher than the price has been. I've actually seen some stability in the price of gas over the past year or 2.

Sorry I made a mistake. The PCs want Doug Holyday to run. The other Conservative Doug from Etobicoke. http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Politics/2013/07/02/20947001.html
-
No he wouldn't. It's just a one-month campaign anyway. In the column I linked to in the OP they talk about a mayor of a BC town that ran in the BC Provincial election that ended up winning a seat.
-
What else would you attribute Oil Prices reaching a 9 month high? Egypt controls the Suez Canal which is an easy route for much of the Middle East's Oil to get to Europe. Turmoil in the region makes the price go up. We saw the exact same thing with Libya.
-
They got an election. Where's your evidence, that election was invalid?
