Sad very sad, a sad day for Canada
MiddleClassCentrist replied to cybercoma's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I'd like the order of canada to mean great accomplishment. Entertainment is not a great accomplishment unless it was ground breakingly new and revolutionized it for Canada. That is extremely hard to do and so, should be extremely rare. -
Hypocrisy over Trudeau's Faith
MiddleClassCentrist replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Show me a party that advocates to not work at all. I was specifically thinking about noble causes like: - helping the poor - accepting everyone - supporting those who are down on their luck - rising up against oppressive conditions Jesus was clearly a socialist by today's standards. -
Quebec, Ontario won't pay cost of crime bill
MiddleClassCentrist replied to olp1fan's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Isn't this just a typical conservative ideologue plan? Fake reducing the deficit by downloading costs to provinces. Make large increases the responsibility of provinces. Where have all of the real fiscal conservatives gone? -
Hypocrisy over Trudeau's Faith
MiddleClassCentrist replied to scribblet's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Faith is not an issue to me when it is kept at home. Faith is an issue to me when it is brought into politics. Faith is not rational or based on good science. Faith does not make good policy. I am not religious. I believe abortion is wrong in any situation resulting from consensual acts of sex. One thing I will never understand is why Christians tend to vote Conservative. Mythical Jesus would be under almost any other party before Conservative. I guess this is just another example of the hypocrisy in religion. -
Tories on business..like oil and water
MiddleClassCentrist replied to Topaz's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I can only conclude that Conservatives are fiscally irresponsible. They don't save money, they spend differently. Tax cuts for wealthier citizens, cuts to services for the lower pay citizens, more jails to put the lower pay guys in when they turn to crime, etc. -
Public Schools & Grocery Stores

Everyone has a soft spot for being worse at something than someone else, this is no secret. But, this is where you bring in information that shows otherwise to enhance discussion. -

Long-gun registry to be shot down Thursday
MiddleClassCentrist replied to a topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Ya. I hear of people being injured and attacked with Goth clothing all the time. And just last week, another student used World of Warcraft to kill a guy who was hitting on his GF. Should I be able to put a loaded tank in my driveway, fully operational, and not let anyone know about it? Maybe have it aiming at the house of the neighbour I like the least to intimidate him? Guns are used for intimidation, everyone I know who had a gun had used it for that at some point in their life. Sure, some people get aroused by them... but, what is the big deal about filling out a piece of paper for one? Honestly? We do that for everything else... -
Long-gun registry to be shot down Thursday
MiddleClassCentrist replied to a topic in Federal Politics in Canada
As a law abiding citizen, I shouldn't have to register my car or any animal I have in my house. As a law abiding citizen, I shouldn't have to apply for a building permit. As a law abiding citizen, I should be able to carry a gun to a local elementary school. All as a law abiding citizen. Nothing but law abiding citizens in this country, right? Why are we spending so much time catering to people for the small inconvenience of registering their gun? -
I would like to see a protest against .....
MiddleClassCentrist replied to a topic in Canada / United States Relations
Right wing forum posters like their internet discussion like they do their biased media outlets. Nonsensical berating of opponents at all costs to win, rather than actually discussing topics rationally. I could see how more rational people would be driven away. You can only talk to a wall for so long -

I think it says a lot that they spend so much time on a Canadian board. I mean seriously, they seem to visit this board 2-5 times a day. -

I don't doubt it. I knew a business owner of baby/child store. He used to make account names up and go on to new mother sites and promote his own business while talking about how he had bad service at the others. Of course, he stayed long enough on the boards so that people would think of him as a community member. I read a lot of poorly written english "reviews" promoting certain products on websites and slandering others. "This was junk garbage. By [product] instead because has: ". Those are my favourite. At $10/hour you could easily pay someone to stay on the internet all day and spread misinformation... there are a lot of people without jobs. -

Honestly, why do guns need to be legal anyways? Real hunters use a bow. Red necks use guns. -
No one deserves cancer and it is sad that he died from it. People loved Steve Jobs because they didn't actually know him. They were addicted to the technology his company designed. But, Steve Jobs was a prick. Just read about how much of a crappy job it was to actually work with him from former employee's. He was an authoritarian who believed in censorship. He was "big brother", ironically the opposite of the 1984 commercial's implication. The only charity he gave a lot of money to was the pancreatic cancer charity. That says a lot about Steve Jobs. And then there is his religious following of Apple Zombies... who don't know anything about technology and think that they actually get $200 worth of features when they buy the 64GB iPad over the 16B iPad. Meanwhile, Bill Gates is one of the most charitable men in the world and one of the most villified. I hope the Apple religion dissipates now that their messiah has passed.

Someone in this thread is a professional internet troll. State opinion Question dissenters opinion If dissenters discuss a scientific study, make sure to question the validity of the study rather than the implications of the study or ignore the study entirely. Ignore any information that reduces the validity of his/her own opinion, repeat. That is how it goes. EVERY. SINGLE. THREAD. You know who you are -
I side with the employer. The employer generously gave them more unpaid breaks, more than they are required to by law, so that they can practice their religion. The employees refused to take the time unpaid. When I worked retail in High School, some of the other workers used to take "smoke breaks" fairly frequently. I started taking "Smoke Breaks" even though I didn't smoke. They'd say "But you don't smoke!" and I'd say "If you get a smoke break, I get a smoke break even if I don't smoke." They eventually stopped taking breaks because they realised that picking up someone elses slack was a piss off (just as it was for me). You are not entitled to more paid break time because of your habits, whatever they may be.

Dismantling of the Canadian Wheat Board.
MiddleClassCentrist replied to Bob's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I like how this whole debacle is another example of good policy vs. Ideology. Harper had them vote, hoping it would be a favourable outcome. Most farmers voted to keep the wheat board realizing that the destruction of the wheat board is actually in favour of Mega Agricorps. What do the ideologues do? Keep on the path, ignore the results. When ideology becomes a religion, all we get is an irrational and dangerous government that makes bad decisions and ignores the will of the people. That being said, those farmers who benefit from the wheat board voted the cons in knowing their plan (if if they disagreed with it). So, they deserve it. -
It's Faux News. Racism on National Television? Yeah.

The tuition for Canadians is heavily subsidized. If you want to see what it actually costs, look at the International/US vs Canadian student rates. Canadian Student - Approx 6k/year International - 12-15k/year

Because it's probably fake. If she was a real teacher, she'd be fired for that comment.

I no rite. When there are 20,000 unemployed and 450 job ads in a county, many repeats. It's the unemployed who are obviously at fault. They need only blame themselves.
