  1. False. Private schools get the left overs and lazy teachers... The ones who couldn't get a job in the public system. It is more challenging to be a public school teacher than a private school teacher. Try to get 30 students who may or may not have engaged parents work and do home work? Or instantly get 16 kids doing every subject because their parents would come down hard on them for wasting $10+/year? There are some stupid teachers. There are some stupid lawyers. There are some stupid engineers. There are some stupid of anything... Most teachers are intelligent and professional in their workplace.
  2. Well, if they are then all polls would be equally flawed and would be off by the same statistical margin and the polls would still properly reflect trends. Some people who answer polls don't vote, some people like myself answer complete garbage to their true opinion. The only 100% correct poll is the election result. All others can catch trends in the electorate but will never be perfect.
  3. Are you saying that Conservatives are more likely to hang up than others?
  4. "An online survey by Abacus Data published by Sun Media on Tuesday gave Tim Hudak’s Progressive Conservatives a nine-point lead over Dalton McGuinty’s Liberals. " I like the fact that they were criticizing a dubious right wing biased poll using strange methodology... sounds kind of like the right wings take on climate change. Pollsters lash out at ‘methodological snake oil’ in Ontario election
  5. Of course, questioning studies is what you do best. How about showing me some information showing otherwise
  6. Teksavvy - 300GB/month bandwith cap or unlimited. Yak - currently unlimited. You can change your video settings on netflix too for lower bandwidth.
  7. Well... if we were arguing hard education stats... he'd be right. But when we are arguing subjective opinions... that is in the eye of the beholder
  8. Why doesn't that apply to top jobs where there are lots of talented people below? Why do conservatives consistenly hate middle and lower class workers?
  9. “I ripped the pages out so I wouldn’t have to explain [the concepts] to him,” he said. “Considering sex talk hasn’t started at that age yet, it’s maybe not appropriate to go into mutilation when they don’t understand their own genitalia.” Typical conservative shown in article. Article's topic is not typical of public schools. Are you going to rant about how the Liberals tried to start sex education at grade 3? Where students would learn dirty words like sperm, egg and very basic human and animal reproductive processes.
  10. So basically, Alberta is profiting at the expense of the rest of Canada. And then hating on the rest of Canada.
  11. So why not just raise taxes an average of $137 a year? Surely 137 can't be onerous, maybe more annoying.
  12. Most of Canada's rich are self made. At least they've acquired it, through ethical or unethical means, on their own One problem with the widening gap is clear. The Rich don't face economic realities. They get bailed out by the average worker's money... and even then the rich will just skim off the top of average workers salary and benefits to maintain their wealth. Their wage will continuously go up while the average worker wage stagnates. That is exactly what conservatives on this board consistently advocate for. Support the wealthy! They need your money more than you do!
  13. Nah, I think that people are most accepting of a marginal tax increase if they keep services that make their community better... like helping the poor.
  14. My favourite thing... about all of this "gravy"... is that it is all cuts to services for the poor. 700mill/5.1mil = $137 dollars of gravy per Torontonian. ... CONSERVATIVE FOREVER!!! AMIRITE?
  15. Maybe he's saving that? Like any race, you don't want to take the lead too far away from the finish... just leaves more time to be passed again.
  16. I googled "Ontario election polls" ... Sponsored Ad at top. "Has Tim Screwed You?" http://www.howscrewedareyou.ca/en/students/
  17. Yeah... because he made a plea to keep the NDP out in Ontario and right leaning Liberals jumped last minute... Polls roll over days and wouldn't account for the sudden spike. Expecting a poll to be 100% accurate is silly because people change their minds day to day. Harper's plea worked. Ontarians still fear NDP as government. That is what gave Harper a majority...
  18. Newcomer to me could mean under 5 years, recent immigrant/new Canadian. Regardless, McGuinty is trending up in the polls. I'm not sure that McGuinty has to convince people why his party needs to be elected at this point... Hudak+PC Campaign is doing a good job of giving people reasons why not to vote PC... Honestly, the Liberals aren't raising in the polls on their merit. The PC's haven't created a wholesome brand this election. Calling out foreigners? might as well put a "racist redneck" stamp on Hudak's forehead. BBQ's with Rob Ford? Toxic, Rob Ford isn't popular in many areas. Hudak should have differentiated himself from other Conservatives and I think he could have walked to victory... Instead he fell into negative stereotypes. Still weeks till the election date, people will probably swing again.
  19. Because, Hudak called them foreigners. They aren't foreigners. They are New Canadians. And Hudak is calling new Canadians FOREIGN. Hudak looks like an ass in this. Not Dalton. http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/story/2011/09/12/mcguinty-hudak-apology564.html
  20. And top executive pay will only go up... at additional expense of the average worker. And conservatives will cheer with glee, until we repeat the cycle and revolt. The working class has a hard time taking cuts when they know their boss is getting huge bonuses and pay increases during economic downturns. The rich don't follow economic reality... they get the average person to bail them out with government loans and free money that the average worker will have to pay back. Top executives should set an example and cap their total compensation to that of the lowest end worker in the organization (50x base salary). Especially since there are so many hard workers near the top who want to replace them... Except for some reason supply and demand doesn't apply when you are at the top. We are living at at artificially high standard of living though. Every time I think of moving out of my semi-detached house, I think "This is what would be reasonable to afford in Toronto" "it would be a dream to own this in England." "It would be a modest mansion in the 3rd world". Hard to justify moving when I already have it better than 95% of the world.
  21. There is intrinsic value in having an educated population? Source? heheh ----- Education improves pretty much every aspect of society. From being healthier to bringing more higher level jobs and innovation into the economy. I think Tim Hudak could look at what Ontario isn't doing well in education and target that... the problem is that it is expensive. Technological Education to give our students hands on skills training is one of the main areas for improvement but, Contruction, Computer Engineering, Nursing, etc programs aren't cheap to improve. The previous Tories were the ones that cut those programs because they are expensive.
  22. Harris Decima Liberal - 40% PC - 29% NDP - 24% Hudak should have stayed away from Rob Ford. Rob Ford is toxic. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/toronto/marcus-gee/why-rob-ford-should-stay-mum-on-ontarios-election/article2157325/
  23. Hudak said behind closed doors when all reporters had left the room that the only people who want his platform (in May) were the left wing media so they could slander it. That the voters didn't care specifics. Husband of a wife's friend is a reporter who hid behind a column to listen after the PC's thought they had all left. Notice that they don't actually tell you how they are going to do it? The Tory platform is all smoke and mirrors. Nothing is actually of substance.
