  1. Fear! Lets not pretend that fear isn't used by the left. The "Stop Harper" campaign was rooted in fear, The campaigns to discredit Trump is all fear based - Trump is a recruiter for ISIL, Terrorists hate us because of Bush...fear driven. Climate change is fear driven, Bill c-51opponents use fear, saying Harper and his stormtroopers will bang down your door, The conservatives will take away your medical, "you need the protection of the government"...all fear driven by the left, and all crap. The root of what makes us lean a particular way can be found in how we define "freedom". Does freedom mean "freedom to live safe and without pain or consequence" or does it mean "freedom to succeed or fail on our own terms"? This of course is a spectrum and most of us fall somewhere in the middle.
  2. Well, I don't think anybody actually likes coldplay. The organizers probably felt they needed some white representation as to avoid academy award type of outcry.
  3. It's you, you know it is. Just fess up.
  4. Maybe somebody should do a study and find out who the trolls are.
  5. Florence and the machine? Not really a Super Bowl type of vibe, is it? I liked their choices for the most part.
  6. He reminds me of a black version of Michael Jackson. Good half time show, although I could've done without seeing the pepsi hoodies
  7. I think she may have over did it a bit on a few notes, but yeah, she is a great singer. Who knew she was so patriotic? Oh yeah, I like Bruno mars too - he should do well.
  8. No, nothing excuses assault (If there was assault). We're speaking as to the value of a psychologist - yes! All a psychologist can testify to is their behaviour after the alleged abuse. Also, a side note. A psychologist would probably suggest that the way the women responded and treated him after the alleged abuse, likely empowered Ghomeshi to the point where he really didn't believe he was in the wrong. They might also suggest that the power these women gave him enabled and even made it easier for him to continue abusing other women.
  9. Good question, but I don't think so unless the defence directly calls into question their "emotional state". Which they haven't really done. They kind of have to be careful as to what psychologist would say, usually battered women stay because they feel they have to for money or kids or something that the abuser has over them - none of that applies here, Ghomeshi didn't have anything over them and didn't intend to. These women were the ones trying to hold on to something that Ghomeshi seemed to want little or no part of.
  10. "Only a few lines of Ghomeshi's replies have been read out by the defence and the Crown has not indicated that it has digital dirt on the former CBC Radio host. It may not be too late for the Crown to seek a search warrant for Ghomeshi's emails, if it hasn't already, Fraser said." This doesn't suggest anything except Fraser's opinion. If the defence is willing to submit emails, I cant imagine they're too concerned with Ghomeshi's side of the interactions. And, in reading between the lines, one can easily surmise that Ghomeshi wasn't initiating and was only slightly aentertaining the advances of these women. Fact is; he seemed to be completely moved on from these women, while they were still trying to pursue a relationship. The defence have called no police witnesses, no professionals, showed no correspondence...just 3 women (2 of whom we know to have fixations on the dude), clearly expecting an emotion based verdict. I suspect that the last complainant will get her day in court, and it'll be a full acquittal for Ghomeshi.
  11. I never ignore or block people, although there are times when I start reading something only to look at the avatar and realize that I've just wasted some of my life away.
  12. As I said before, we'll see!
  13. I did! And, I just left it alone. A thread like that can either invite trolling and flaming - for obvious reasons, but i guess it can also bring people together because as I read it, I've noticed people who generally disagree - agreeing that the thread and cites used are crap. FYI, The thread is from a guy with 40 posts. 40 posts and he's bringing in left wing conspiracy theories!...and in another thread he's calling people children - great start.
  14. I thought the "fringe viewpoint" thing was to address the Harper as a drug dealer thread, but that thread is still open.
  15. I don't think you really hate children.
  16. Not true...and I don't care whatever cite you're using to make that point. The point of terrorism is to shape political policy, divide people and collapse economy and infrastructure.
  17. Do you mind if i use this quote in my signature?
  18. Cmon, the CBC nearly broke out the bubbly (and maybe did off air) when Trudeau won the election. Ever ;listen to CBC radio? No, the CBC is as left as could be, i don't think they even bother to hide it anymore. The National Post is post pretty good.
  19. I think maybe it would help if people could differentiate bible passages that are Old Testament and Christian.
  20. Maybe I wasn't clear. The only thing that matters in a firing is the "why", and in this case Ghomeshi was fired because of his personal life being exposed by a group trying to ruin his reputation. The CBC can't go back and say "well, he wasn't nice to the staffers", because that wasn't why he was fired. The guy was fired over his personal sexual, consensual (so far) private life. I hate to sound like a liberal, but I hope that we've come farther than firing people for their consensual sexual behaviours.
  21. Whether a guy deserves to be fired is inconsequential, you have to look at why he was fired. And it arguable that Ghomeshi was fired because these women started a campaign against him and the CBC didn't like the optics. It's like the dude who was fired for the FHRITP thing, he could be a shitty employee and deserve to lose his job, but he was not fired for that, he was fired because he went on TV and said FHRITP was hilarious. He has since been re-instated - I believe.
  22. You've literally spent months, every post you make tells us that muslims and Christians are the same, that all religions are the same, that muslim men and western men are the same, that muslims and the western world treat women and homosexuals the same, that the west has just as much terrorism as Islamics. Now, you're here to criticize people for assuming that muslims are the same as other muslims are you're gonna explain the difference in Muslim groups. You're going to sort out how christianity is same (violence wise) as islam, but some Islam is not the same as other Islam. Please tell us more!
  23. I agree with the analogy, however Ive heard the same one in reference to guns and knives.
  24. Well, if you can't call someone a troll - which I agree...and am also guilty of, can we please start infracting those who call people racist and bigot? As I mentioned before, I saw a one word post that simply read "Bigot" and MH saw it too and did diddly squat about it, until I publicly addressed the post. I got the suspension.
  25. If this was hockey, the Brad Marchands of this board are allowed to run wild...take him out (shove a glove in his face...whatever) and guess who's getting the penalty - that's right, the retaliator. That the refs/mods allow it is stunning.
