"Indian Summer" it used to be called. In that it was a temporary promise, given but then quickly taken away.

As in, Indian Giver. Such language was common in my youth but gone now. Rightly so, but that's how it was and maybe still is in certain rural places.

Out there where they give a hootenany

  2. From what I'm seeing, legal opinions have it that these charges are weak and not going to hold up under scrutiny. There is even the question whether some of these charges are permissible under federal laws. This looks like yet another publicity stunt.
  3. I love how you guys disown your own kind when they are finally exposed as complete sociopathic fukups. My point is, people are smart enough to reject wokism. Just another fad coming out of post- teenage identity crisis angst.
  4. Yeah that's so witty. How's your little pal Don Lemon... I guess rational people couldn't put up with the hate anymore. The exact same hate... that characterizes all you woke motherfukers.
  5. Who would a ever thunk that scrawny little Tucker Carlson of CNN with his bow-tie would ever be the top Fox News TV host.
  6. You would think by the way these clods here all harmoniously chime in, the government's doing a great job. These people cannot be that stupid, can they? Yet they are. Meanwhile the reality is that we are not getting anywhere in terms of tangible social "improvements". In fact the opposite. I'm sure I can go out and show how poverty is on the rise, and ironically its people on social assistance who gamble a lot. As in more than most people consider normal. So, you want to do something about gambling, level the playing field. Shut down the casinos and the 649. Don't act like you're trying to protect people as a coverup for lining government coffers. Lotteries go back centuries, used as a way for kings to refill their vaults with wealth. Then it's ever on with the debaucherie. Meanwhile the people shall eat Bubble and Squeak...
  7. In my opinion the federal Liberals will still be hard to beat, despite Trudeau's numerous failures that expose him as being unworthy of the office. Plus, he's got the NDP vote on his side as well. They're enjoying the biggest slice of the federal pie they've had for many years, and will continue supporting Trudeau's Liberals. Therefore I say all is lost, my friends. Canada is lost.
  8. Why does the government want to use its power to stop these online gambling companies from advertising? Hmm hmm hmm. I wonder what it could be. Could it be... because it takes away from their revenue at Ontario- sanctioned casinos and lottery ticket sales?
  9. Nice topic. I think the spirit of "getting along" goes back to before the Liberals, so I would not give them full credit for that. Also, Sir John A, who helped establish the confederation, was a conservative. .... Today in fact we have the opposite going on. Liberal PM Justin Trudeau has openly expressed intolerance and sown division among Canadians. His comments about the unvaccinated, for example, branding them as racists and misogynists. It was bizarre.
  10. They're not? I have reason to doubt that. I was in both systems so got to see the difference. That was in Toronto. I'm sure they are funded a lot better in Montreal. Major government funding Quebec ass-kissers. Ottawa is inherently different and better funded than anywhere else, for same reason.
  11. That certainly was not my experience. I went to public school all my life but for one year, due to circumstances I had to attend catholic school. It was a shocking experience. The teachers were themselves violent. I remember shouting, one teacher totally losing it and was unable to stop his tantrum, right in front ofthe class. Another guy would grab students by the back of their neck and take them to another room, where we could hear him bawling the guy out. A third "teacher" got angry at me and threw my notebook across the room, shouting "Balls!!" as he did. Students themselves behaved like barn animals, since they were treated with such violence they responded in kind. Facilities and teachers were, to put it quite bluntly, shit. They were allowed to get away with it. The principal was a preacher man. I went back to public school the next year and things were normal again.
  12. I'm all for social justice but if it includes letting trans men compete in women's sports, I wouldn't call that social justice.
  13. Now try wokism,
  14. Woke as you used it above is a verb. Woke as it is used in this thread sense is not a word. Unless maybe you speak patua.
  15. Woke is not a real word, at least not that I was ever taught in school, unless maybe you're from the Ozarks. As in, "Are you awake". So, am I an Ozarkian? Hell no...
  16. Or better yet, get your mom to run it. Choose a charity that was started several years ago by a ten-year-old kid, that was his life's dream and he achieved it completely on his own. Then run it into the ground in less than two years, by creating a government scandal. Then, it's gone. Now THAT's what you call "Good government work".
  17. You did a great job. Congratulations on proving, scientifically, everything my grandmother already knows.
  18. In addition to what you wrote, it makes the healthy more vulnerable to diseases. Closing gyms, encouraging to stay home for extended periods ( weeks to months), not allowing use of outdoor playgrounds and skating rinks, all contribute to increased demise. Yet somehow this is trotted out by "Top Doctors" as good health advice. Heck even my Grandma knows better than the garbage these people are pushing on the public, and kids.
  19. Ahh yes I know what you are referring to. The waste from reactors can be recycled in a reactor of different design. But unfortunately it's not being done at all. Breeder reactors can take the spent fuel rods from a CANDU and use them to produce a nuclear reaction again, creating energy and converting the spent fuel into useful enriched material again. A nuclear fuel cycle. The problem I recall is that the process can produce large amounts of weapons-grade material. So out of concern for nuclear weapons proliferation it is not used. There may be other technical issues with breeder reactors that make them undesireable as well. I didn't look this up, couldn't be bothered so the info could be out of date. Unfortunately there's no magic bullet, despite what the reactor salesmen say.
  20. Ahh. I was hoping you would pick on something... I'll have to ponder that one for a while. You can't love both war, and normalcy. So the war is on normalcy.
  21. I haven't heard of this reactor that produces such minimal waste. As far as I'm aware, all reactors produce copious amounts of waste from the fuel rods. Canada is constantly seeking places underground to sequester the waste from our reactors, and natives are constantly fighting them every step of the way. New SMR's are miniature pressurized water reactors. Same as many older designs. Each site requires a plot of land to hold the spent rods in pools. Othe new designs like sodium cooled are inherently safer as you describe, but still fraught with danger. As in grave danger. Ever seen a sodium fire, son? You surround a reactor core with that material and light it up... oye vato. You better find a new planet, man. These things too should simply not be built. - in my esteemed opinion -
  22. That's the only line you can pick on? I don't get it.
  23. Please... we all know you are a liar. No need to put on the show pretending fir us any longer. I was playing with you, as a bored cat may do with a small mouse, after it's killed so many mice before. It gets a little repetitive after a while. Same old same old, as we say in these here parts. But still, may as well bash you around a few more times anyway. Because there's nothing else to do. Out of respect for the others here I will let you run away. Run away now little mouse
  24. I think I wrote that at lunch time. I get to have lunch. You wouldn't know about that if you never work, because all day is like lunch for you. How many posts did yoake today? I don't know. But I know one thing for sure.. every one of them was a priceless gem. So you invoked Trump here? Last thrashes of a coward going down. Get out of his way, people. - You lost the chessgame automatically. I didn't even have to checkmate you. You are disqualified.
