  1. Quite often the vowels ou together denote British spelling. I just checked and yep, Mold is the American spelling for any use of the word. Another worthless contribution by little herbie...
  2. Hopefully Canadians can see that, if they can put down their beer... and joint.
  3. Do I hear a fly buzzing in here?
  4. That way they don't need to think. Canadians are by and large too comfortable and complacent. I recall a quote by Trudeau senior in which he expressed his contempt for Canada's peasantry, something to the effect that all Canadians need to be satisfied is "a bottle of beer... a hockey game." And that's because we did so well in the years after the world wars, especially from about 1960 onward, the so-called golden age of socialism in Canada. This was among the best, if not the best country in the world. Canadians were right to love their country and trust their government. Over the years things got tougher, but nothing like we're seeing now. I blame Trudeau 100% for the current situation, because of his incompetence. Interestingly our new British coworker also mentioned that there are massive protests every day in London and other large UK cities. They are protesting higher prices, frozen wages and loss of their rights. Sure wish Canadians would take a page from that. I'm ready to go to the hill and throw some rocks.
  5. I don't see a date in that unvetted article. The links I gave make a more important point. There are ways to mitigate the current circumstances but this government is not interested in taking action, and is actually benefiting from it.
  6. Frost alert in eastern Ontario twice this week. Right now it's 5 Deg. outside.

We need some more global warming please...

  7. I spoke to a man who was just there a few days ago. Are you in the UK? Otherwise your comments are not worth much. The fact is that most countries are facing the same challenges as we, but some have taken steps to stop the steep rise in prices through certain economic controls. They may increase their national debt in doing so, but that is just a numbers game. Hunt pushes for supermarkets to curb soaring prices May 22 2023 With UK food price inflation at 46-year high, lawmakers launch probe May 12, 2023 Europe’s politicians impose price caps to address soaring food costs May 21 2023 Canada's government does nothing. Mr. Trudeau likes this situation we're in, because for one he likes high gas prices. Also higher food costs and higher prices on all products means higher taxes. A windfall for the Trudeau government. And I can show you links where they have been accused of this, but all we get from them is shrugs.
  8. You asked for a better system than ours. I showed you how partisan politics has created a biased judiciary in this country (one post above the one you quoted, but no comment from you). The US system requires the senate to give the final nod after considerable public debate and investigation. Canada requires the PM to be the decider. After several generations of Liberal party governance, we have what we have now. And that power (PM) extends deeply into the beurocracy, right down to the attitudes of people who can withold your tax return or freeze your bank account. So yes Virginia, there is a better system. Far far better.
  9. Many Canadians are duped into believing whatever the government tells them to believe. That is the enemy of liberty. And without liberty, you've got the vision of communist China. An untouchable elite ruling over a voiceless peasantry.
  10. How about appointing a long-time family friend and admirer to decide if a hearing or inquiry is necessary related to government corruption, auditing, political influence from outside malevolent forces (CCP), then coming up looking clean every time? Even people who knew "exactly zero about politics five years ago" know when something stinks. Little Lisa is so discouraged, she doesn't even bother to vote.
  11. Political is doing things like appointing partisan judges, since the final decision is made by the Prime Minister (party in power) which opens the door to unfair and unbalanced process. On the other hand, in the United States, the appointment process involves both the President and the U.S. Senate. The President nominates a candidate, and the Senate provides advice and consent through the confirmation process. The Senate's role is to evaluate and approve or reject the President's nominee. The Senate Judiciary Committee plays a prominent role in vetting nominees and conducting hearings. The Canadian PM has far more power and authority over issues in Canada than the US president in the USA.
  12. My message of late exactly. https://repolitics.com/forums/profile/104885-oftenwrong/?status=12428&type=status Wow that really was of late.
  13. And like I say, there is nothing better but what we have needs to be protected from political. The fight continues. I see the main "fight" these days in Canada is between citizens and government. Our government is a big part of the problem. That's why I value the notion of keeping government power in check. Political influence in the courts is a good example of what needs to be protected. Else, little girls might lose their faith in democracy.
  14. It needs to be protected from political influence. We appear to be losing that battle as we become more and more divided. Then there is the consequences of becoming a target of cancel-culture, which calls for increasingly punitive measures for expressing "wrong ideas".
  15. We have a visitor from the UK at our work this week. The guy went to the grocery store and was shocked at our food prices. He told us the price of food in Canada right now is about double that in the UK. There are massive protests in UK every day about prices for food and tuition, and for citizens rights to be paid fairly. Canadians are too complacent.
  16. Two people were assaulted in seperate incidents at beer stores was in the news but since you live under a rock you wouldn't know rhat so doncarry on blathering
  17. Bad advice. Do that and you may just get your face kicked in. This goes far beyond the stock market.
  18. No problem, thanks for clarifying your comments. I used them to make a point about how we have been lied to. Not by lying, but by careful omissions of the truth.
  19. Coming from you it is. We hold you to a higher standard.
  20. Just gotta throw this in here- some links to show what is still going on at the US southern border. Photos emerge of Biden-era detention centres 32 March 2021 Children Are Still Being Separated from Their Families at the Border Jun 23, 2022 Corporate Media Silent Over New Photos of ‘Kids in Cages’ May 1, 2023 Obviously putting kids in a detention center alongside adults, and letting them roam freely presents a certain problem, so it is "for their own safety". Obama started this program to separate the kids from their parents. Trump continued the program, as does Joe Biden. But when Trump was president, this was used to attack him. One-sided information is being used to fool you. It is not a lie, but an omission of the truth. No more mention of it now however, which tells you who is running the media. Indications are it has only worsened in that there are now more people in detention than ever. But it still fools you people. be-be-be-cause Trump!
