Digital currency's and a cashless society.
OftenWrong replied to taxme's topic in Business and Economy
Some things are fairly irrefutable like science, tech, engineering and math. I can go to wikipedia for the less-controversial topics, but the number on that list keeps getting smaller. The issue is when politics gets involved. We allow too much political interference in our society in this day and age. Politicians love it though. They love having more power and control. Digital currency is another means whereby they gain more control. -

I mean you should vote for whomever you want, of course. But you seem upset that you're not getting a direct response from either Poliviere's office, or the man himself. That expectation seems quite unrealistic. Do you not think they get hundreds of questions and comments every day? How do you expect them to keep up with every whimsical question coming from the public, at a federal level? My advice is go to your local MP's office and talk to them. Have you tried that already? -

That is what we are allowed to know at this time. That is the unofficial narrative given by government spokespersons. They can say anything they want if they're not under oath. Here is what this looks like to the general public, in my view- If Trudeau has nothing more to hide he should behave in a manner that's honest. He does not. That smells like a coverup. He is tarnishing his image further by choosing a partisan family friend to report on the issue (Johnston). Just as he's bullied anyone who dared to be a whistleblower, just as he ignores the criticism from various auditors, some of whom resigned their posts, if I recall. Yeah, a quick google search shows my memory's pretty good - https://ottawa.citynews.ca/2023/04/28/former-trudeau-foundation-ceo-says-she-resigned-after-pushback-on-donation-audit/amp/ One can only assume he does have something to hide. There's something more, but he is willing to look bad by these obvious coverups, because the truth is far worse. Let's not get all excited by a few words from Poilievre. The real issues are far more important. -
I never said they rejected freedom, you are putting words in my mouth. That's dishonest, and I wont waste time on you if you start doing that. I trouble myself to think about the topic and respond politely to you, but if you're going to troll me, I'm not going to bother responding to you further. You will be put on my ignore list. My "guesstimate" comes from the basic observation that voters are divided between liberal and conservative parties by about 50:50. It is actually slightly leaning toward liberalism, but if you look at polls or election results it's close enough for argument's sake. US elections are almost right down the middle, while in Canada we are more liberal. "A May 2016 poll from Forum Research found that around 16% of respondents had considered pulling their children out of public schools in reaction to the new curriculum, and that 48% of Ontarians approved of the curriculum while 36% opposed it." https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ontario_sex_education_curriculum_controversy .... Even if not exactly 50-50, you are dismissing a sizeable portion of the population. The Sikhs, hindus, muslims, etc who make up a significant portion of our society. Granted they are not progressive white liberals. I gave you that list of religious groups already; from that you should have gleaned what I meant by calling it 50-50. You should have been able to figure that out. It doesn't seem to me you are actually interested in this discussion, other than giving your personal opinion. But this isn't about what you find acceptable. It's about the thousands of people with families who differ from your liberal views and they deserve to be heard. Not written off as people who don't want "freedom". Your version of freedom is what they would call being a sinner.

It just seemed you were saying that it was unfair for CSIS to allow the information to be made public. Maybe I misunderstood you there. Care to clarify on that? -

Now now, no need to get all sensitive. That is not what I meant. I meant that the age of information is also the age of lies, and it gets to the point we cannot trust a politician's words (no big news there), but also that certain agencies that were thought to be non-partisan, journalism, auditors, courts, are all politicized and their information is no longer trustworthy. All that leaves us with is our common sense. If you are old enough to have been brought up before this age, you read books. You still have a chance to think through things using your sense of reasoning. I have books on my shelves that still say the same thing they did when they were published. I can change the contents of a web page in a microsecond. Pity those who now find their information through a browser. Like what to do when those fact- checking websites that tell you what is true and false, are themselves false. That sure didn't take long, eh? That's why I have lost faith in your linky-dinks, is all. Your massive intellect was never in question... -

It could reveal how much the Chinese were involved, how much they donated to Trudeau's election campaign (more than $200k?), how much Trudeau knew and when he knew about it. Perhaps you want to know about all that. Or? I see... -
No "we" haven't, as there are lots of people rejecting that new culture. Maybe half the people, as a guesstimate. Cultural values are instilled at a young age, that's why we musn't allow political influences to enter the classroom. Keep cultural education at the grassroots level. Stick to the 3 R's. It's public school, meaning those of different culture all go there, including devout christians, muslims and jews, and those who are African abd Asian. In other words, you want a multi-cultural society, you have to understand and respect the values of other cultures. You are entitled to believe what you want and raise your kids according to your beliefs and values, but you're not entitled to change the values in my family. As long as we follow that, things will be fine.

Huh? I even gave you the bullets from that link, man. Look what I copy/pasted below the link. I'm confused by your interpretation of what seems fairly clear to me, but agreed, let's just move on. Move along... move along... :0

Agreed. This should not be covered up. The poster is implying CSIS needs to be partisan to the government in power. That is the road to totalitarianism. -

I concede it's true. Politics is tit for that, as my pappy used to say. -

No. Except I expect them to use their intelligencez... Like I said, going to find data is like picking your own poison. One can prove or disprove anything with links. The internet is a sea of lies. Age of information, my eye. Cheers -

Trans parency. I cannot dumb it down enough for you. Mr. Trudeau is a liar and complete charlotte tan. -

Except I don't do requests. As if you'd accept it in any case. It all comes down to who's lies you want to believe, tales from the people in the street themselves, or some chivatto paid by the government to do a "report". Or maybe in your case, whatever Christia Un-Freeland tells you happened. I suppose that way is much easier for you people to sleep at night. -

I think all that reasonable Canadians are asking for is responsible government that actually does its job, and stays within its own box. That includes staying out of the bedroom of Canadians. Whatever Poillievre does may not matter as much as the fact he's NOT Trudeua. Now if only we could get a PM that Canadians can actually spell his name... -

Quite sure I can find that the number os more than 270, if that is your only issue. You're ok with the government narrative on this, that's for sure. Ok then, allow me to summarize. If I were a criminal and did a criminal act, then denied it and made it seem less than it was, you'd drink that soup like it was some kinda gravy. -

It's great to watch the left forced to abandon their causes by the fact their more extreme factions have taken them to the brink. Very encouraging. But that is the point your theories have brought us to. Suck it up, ye buttercups or suck this -
It also relates to the idea that one should have a tradition. Without memory you have no tradition. Without tradition, you have no country. You have a post-national state.
-
The government SHOULD know better, but they use these issues as a political football to mesmerize the masses. There need to be some accountability here. But since they (gov't) also control the mainstream message (not directly, but they have the money to pay for and promote certain points of view), the public is unaware. Canadians are not awake. Yeah that's right. You remember that. You have a memory. (First sign one is not a liberal)

I know. Just in an argumentative mood. You know that feeling when you wake up in the morning, and the abyss is looking back at you the wrong way?
-
Apparently you missed more than just "that one" (my post), because this is an issue from a few years ago, and you appear to know nothing about it. Here, my online friend, let me remind you- https://globalnews.ca/news/4198420/doug-ford-sex-ed-curriculum/ Specifically, students will be introduced to or taught about the following at each grade level: Grade 1: the proper names for body parts (carried over from the old curriculum); exploitative behaviours and feelings Grade 2: the body changes that accompany physical development Grade 3: same-sex relationships Grade 4: the physical and emotional changes that come with puberty; bullying and abuse; and safe use of technology and the internet Grade 5: reproductive system; menstruation and sperm production; stresses in puberty; emotional well-being Grade 6: masturbation; stereotypes and assumptions; personal identity (including gender identity and body image) Grades 7 and 8: anal and oral sex; contraception; prevention of sexually transmitted diseases; sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression; dangers of sexting; sources of sexual health supports

1. What I wrote about Doug Ford above is also fun. 1a. No, but there's probably lots of words you haven't heard of either. 2, Let them do whatever they like, even if to oppose nature and reality. It's my understanding going without a bra hurts if you have big tits. They are entitled to try things and learn the hard way. Nature will make its own correction. My point by saying that is not just to say anything goes, but that there are sometimes other reasons for these things than is immediately apparent.

Why are politicians on both sides playing this sad game, while real important issues remain unsolved? Because they are not useful in the game of political football. Proves what I suspect when it comes to politicians and now companies jumping on the woke messaging bandwagon- they don't really care about these social issues at all. We are being duped.
-
I was highlighting recent woke ideas that are stylish fads that grab the attention of society. It's on topic. Defining wokism as a movement with naive ideas that likely will fail and be rolled back. Alcohol prohibition, as you injected, is ancient history and off topic. Another good one will be the latest movement to decrim narcotics. Toronto will likely have a Chinese mayor, and she says she will do this. Coming your way. It's being done in Vancouver and there are reports that it has only worsened the problem. Surprise surprise. I predict will be a social disaster that will fail and be rolled back. Also see one up.
