Trump isn't going to last much longer.

Besides, what are Trudeau's options? How would you suggest he handle it differently?

I think the way Trudeau is handling it now is quite good.

  2. What is your concern about her? It's amazing they've made it as far as they did, given some of the ideas coming out from some members of the NDP. But voters barely know what they're voting for, in many cases. For some, a 30-second sound byte, a bit of hear-say and a cute poster shot is all they need to decide. I guess that about sums it up anyway. I suspect a certain number of those who jumped ship from Liberal to NDP had no idea what they were buying into, just as those who voted for Ford had no idea what he is going to do as Premier.
  3. Why would there be nowhere to go next? She's the leader of the opposition, a role that puts her in the spotlight. It gives her the opportunity to show her stuff. Considering that Liberals are now on their knees as a party, resigning at this point seems like a wrong move.
  4. Well you wish but I think in this case, 416 voted him in.
  5. I have little doubt that Ford will win. I support the PC party and want them to win, but not with Doug Ford. Just the principle- he's a total wild card. You pulled out the Joker. Again, what little we do know about him doesn't look too shit hot, wouldn't you agree? So there's a lot to be concerned about. But it seems that this is the writing on the wall- Doug Ford may well be the most powerful man in Ontario tomorrow, and only once removed from the office of the Prime Minister. Let's hope he surprises everybody with his leadership skills and political experience.
  6. He means socially conservative people, the most serious existential threat that exists to the left. That's why Stalin had them all rounded up immediately.
  7. There's little question this is where we are headed, but I cannot see Doug Ford as a vote for certainty. In fact to me he's the least certain of all 3 candidates, having little to no political history and no time to explain his vision as newly appointed leader of the PC Party, let alone what he will do as Premier, and how he intends to do it. He hasn't even had time to think about it himself. We know where Horwath stands, she is the devil incarnate. Voters have turned their backs on Wynne, she is political chandala. That's why I'm having a hard time understanding the rationale for the polls. Voters seem to be more affected by emotion and group think, than making an informed choice. Help, my faith in democracy is waning
  8. Sickening. That people would vote in such a reactionary way raises questions about the value of democracy as we know it. Thanks to the greedy, moronic leadership of the PC party we now face giving them a majority in this province, without a platform and with a premier who is totally unknown. Or rather, what little is known about him is hardly impressive, to say the least. PC party leadership thought they could pull a fast one. They knew the government would be theirs, and somebody wanted it to be someone other than Patrick Brown. Who that is, I don't know but I have my suspicions. Obviously they never expected that Doug Ford would step up to the podium, like a bogeyman coming out of the closet. Yet this, apparently, makes no difference to voters in Ontario according to the polls. Starting tomorrow, Ontarians venture into completely uncharted territory, adrift, without a plan and with no direction. And they will do it BY MAJORITY. I'd say an Andrea Horwath Ontario would be the most frightening. PC Majority follows a close second, if taken on a wing and a prayer. PC minority is not likely to stand. NDP most horrific, either as majority or minority. Not a done deal until tomorrow... no matter what, Ontario shall see a new dawn.
  9. Most certainly, the economy can be tanked by a mere word. And that word has not yet been spoken by Donald Trump. In fact, quite the contrary has happened, according to your graph.
  10. Trudeau turned down an offer to discuss bilateral trade with Donald Trump, even though that could be more beneficial for both Canada and the US in the long run than trilateral NAFTA. I fear his naivety and arrogance are clouding his judgement. He does not seem to understand that in terms of these negotiations, the US is holding all the cards.
  11. I know. It is an interesting graph, although I did not verify its authenticity. Let's say I accept it, which is fine... it indicates that the data continued along the same trend, as the situation in 2018 improved further.
  12. "If recent polls are correct, the Liberals look poised to drop from the governing party in Ontario to losing their official party status." Link Pretty shocking how far they've fallen. Final result of unfettered Liberalism...
  13. So what. I found this: Kevin Hassett, chairman of the White House Council of Economic Advisers, said the trend of low economic growth has been broken by President Donald Trump’s policies which are driving the U.S. economic rebound. “We’ve gone from a new normal of low growth to just normal which is the 3% growth that Americans are used to expect, ” Hassett told reporters on Tuesday. The White House summarized the state of the economy by looking at GDP growth over the previous year. Currently, the economy is growing at a rate of slightly under 3%, compared to the Obama administration which experienced growth of under 2%. And there are some forecasting that it will continue to rise beyond 4% in the coming year. But hey... Which data do you want to believe?
  14. The world sometimes learns, but it easily forgets. Just a generation or two of peace and prosperity is all it takes. Trees are an innovative, low-tech solution. Or perhaps other fast-growing crops. There should be an effort to re-plant some of the large deforested areas.
  15. That's exactly what I thought. Sunset clause at some point, not 5 years it's a little too soon. Can't really assess the impact of economics in that short a time anyway. But it does make sense to review and make corrections at some interval, in line with changes to the global economy. I think there was opportunity to keep the dialogue going but it seems like our PM lost his cool.
  16. What truth is that you are exactly referring to? I provided facts, you provide put downs.
  17. US Black unemployment rate hits a record low Black unemployment rate hits a record low The point of this post and the above is to demonstrate the obvious, and to challenge the notion the US is heading towards starvation, or going to be starving any time soon. Truth is in your face. But hey. Better for you to stick with the tabloid stories guys, they are less easy to disprove. Trump is Putin's lap-dog... Trump is hell bent on destroying America... Trump is a dangerous mad man...
  18. Economy booming in America under President Trump. https://www.google.ca/search?q=us+economy+booming Job growth surges in America... https://www.google.ca/search?q=us+job+growth+surges
  19. I think he made a mistake leaving Washington empty-handed, in a huff, and he is making a bigger mistake now. Economic retaliation against the US is like a fly trying to scare an elephant. Also, Justin Trudeau would do well to avoid mocking Donald Trump. Trudeau's recent sarcastic comments are not the kind of thing that impress Donald, and not conducive to serious negotiations at this stage. IE if Trudeau thinks he's funny, Trump's not laughing.
  20. Oh goody, I look forward to reading more put-downs.
  21. How you draw your conclusions sometimes is beyond me.
  22. That's right, as pointed out several times, the polls always showed at least 70% chance of majority, and now rebounding back up again. These are the weighted polls. Leftist propaganda? Sorry to disappoint, but the reason is far more mundane than a conspiracy. Leftist silliness comes to mind, or leftist stupidity. Lest we forget... these messages are brought to you courtesy of the people who add, when they should subtract.
  23. The trade model of the free world is built upon these international agreements, supported by consecutive governments, so making it into a conservative issue is nonsensical.
