Everything makes carbon. Every move you make. Every breath you take. Gee, maybe you're the problem... -
How Electric Cars Save The Planet
OftenWrong replied to reason10's topic in Health, Science and Technology
Come on taxme, everyone can afford a $150k electric truck. Makes for a great tool when you're workin with it on the job site all day. Oh wait, maybe not... oh yeah not too mention the electrical upgrade to your house, which won't even be possible if everyone had an ev, there's not enough power around. Lots and lots of work to do, and things to build in order to switch to all ev's. Will cost a shitload, plus the carbon cost incurred for the changover. Everything makes carbon. Result: will only increase CO2, not lower it. -
They have recently revised expectations as to the date it will be ready to work. I say it will never work, will have immense maintenance issues and costs. So far they actually have nothing. The goal is to produce a few hundred MW for a duration of 40 seconds, to give an idea of where they are at. This is, literally, a high-level smoke and mirrors game. I'm putting my bets on Star Trek "transporter beam" technology myself. That'll solve everything.

Should Hamas support rallies in Canada be stopped?

It's true that most of the major social reforms in the west have come about only recently. Not even a century ago women weren't allowed to vote or work in certain professions. It was immoral for a woman to show her ankles in public. Gay rights? You would be drummed out of town at the mere mention of it. This attitude has changed just in my lifetime alone. Canadians don't understand how different it can be in other countries, we are always safe and prosperous, we always have good food and medicine, police and judicial system. We take these things for granted. Meanwhile in some of these middle east countries you show your face in public, they may chop your head off. -
Alberta breaking up AHS, creating new agencies in health care overhaul.
Sounds like the right move. Go after the real heart of the problem. Totally dismantle the existing health care bureaucracy and start over.

I know, because I support conservatives and you want to cover the damage being done by Liberals. What scale. The economy? Environment, Foreign affairs? All failures of this government. Did Chretien and Harper have to do their job? Yes. Or be dismissed at the next election. That's how it works, not, just shrug and say "oh well anyway..." I see no reason to pick through that list. What you wrote is exactly what I expected. There is nothing in that list that is atypical of issues for government to work on. Trudeau has not worked on those items in your list to the point of being successful, otherwise we wouldn't be talking about him as we are. When I say Poilievre is a career politician with years of working experience compared to Trudeau, that is a fact not opinion. My "opinion" as you call it doesn't need to be backed by links. It is simple common sense, backed by the facts in reality we have today. You wish Poilievre good luck but say you are not confident he can fix the issues. Sounds like you are excusing Trudeau by saying it's not his fault, because no one can fix these brand-new major challenges.

None of those things are any different than the usual problems that any government will face. That's why we have a government, to do their job. Poilievre is a career politician so no doubt has many accomplishments under his belt over the years. Who is Justin Trudeau? What skills, knowledge, experience did he bring? Answer none. There is no reason any longer to believe he has the ability to lead. You should really be asking why this man got elected in the first place. And then... re-elected. We deserve this, thanks to stupidity in the electorate. And now you're in here like, "Well, Poilievre can't do anything about it either." No, basic fact is Trudeau's incompetent.
