  3. The effectiveness of vaccines cannot be proven with more virtual data. If they are effective, in fact and in reality, and with confidence then there's neither ground no reason to continue uniform, mandatory restrictions. Really, it's down to one or the other, credibility of the effectiveness claims, or restrictions. Both and at the same time are not consistent, logically.

  4. But the exit was already in motion in spring 2020. Afghan forces fell apart then. (See extended timeline thread below.)

  5. BTW Citizen I see I cornered you into admitting there might be a problem giving the mRNA shot to children under 12. Why is that? They recommend the first polio vaccine at 2 months.

  6. At this point there’s no excuse for not making it to the vaccine clinic unless you’ve made the conscious choice not to, in which case you’re counting on your natural immunity and/or personal protection such as PPE and social distancing. There’s no need to maintain restrictions to protect these people. Unvaccinated children face more risk from flu. There has to be a firm end date to the masking madness. I can’t even get seen in person by a doctor. I brought my daughter to the hospital and waited six hours to get antibiotics because no doctors turned up until morning and the one who did took two minutes to diagnose her. Covid-19 has become an excuse to dodge work and healthy social interactions. It’s destroying the economy, mental health, and non-COVID-19 health outcomes. This madness needs to stop. We’re destroying society to eliminate the small risk of serious illness from one ailment. I don’t respect our health authority or government for maintaining this sham. I don’t respect the petty fear mongers and sucks who don’t understand that living entails a certain amount of risk and bravery is required to have a life worth living.

  7. An example for all- Today we hear that in various colleges and universities and in all federal workplaces, vaccination will be mandatory. For schools that means all students, staff and visitors as well. But are they going to allow in-class attendance at these facilities? Answer is No. Despite that every person is vaccinated, in-class learning will still be restricted to the minimal amount that is necessary, in which case everyone must still wear masks and social distance. Keep in mind the absurdity of this position- you aren't allowed to attend our college unless fully vaccinated, and then you must stay home for most if not all courses. This is especially true for any college course and for undergrad courses at universities where there is no lab work involved.

  8. If the restrictions persist I think we may need to divide society into the ignorant and well-informed. The ignorant can hide and live in fear according to fascist dictates. The well-informed can live free normal lives.

  9. Quick question: how would you change the system without amending the Constitution? You are clearly very passionate about changing the system so it is even more important to act on it. Just don’t expect to see instant success. It has evolved over 800 years and we don’t want to wind up with a disfunctional system like the US.

  10. This was inevitable once the Republicans latched on to the "Democrats and their endless wars" talking point. If the GOP wasn't going to stand behind the war they started, no one could expect the Democrats to.

  11. To become an mp, you first need to be nominated. That process alone is going to set you back a few grand. Then, if you are good enough to win the nomination there is the election. If you are elected, you will need a second home in Ottawa. The subsidies don’t cover all that. Then while all this has been going on, you have had no income for a year or 18 months. As an mp, you tour your riding meeting various groups from seniors to students in the university. You are expected to pay for everyone’s coffee and you would be staggered to know how many groups you visit that have a 50-50 contest, so you drop $50 or $100 at each one and if you happen to win, you are expected to donate the lot to the organization. The expenses add up. Everyone has their hand out because they are your boss and you make that obscene salary. Never mind that that salary is much less than you made at the job you had before you ran just as you were about to enter your prime earning years. Then there is the loss of family time because you work 16 hours a day 6days a week and are away much of the time. To top it off, everyone is your boss and they think they could do a better job than you and they all think you are a crook. When their government cheque goes missing, you get it fixed for them but they still call you a thief. years ago, I worked for a major bank and it was scary how many former cabinet ministers carried around incredible debt loads. Show these people some appreciation because they are not serving you for money or your gratitude.

  12. I could see the NDP gaining another 2-3% during the campaign, at the expense of the Liberals. Especially since they’ve already begun to attack Trudeau over choosing an election during a pandemic.

  14. Why? Trump is gone. What did Trump offer the Taliban in return? A meeting. Are they going to have a meeting with Trump now? How about a meeting with Joe Biden, do you think that is reasonable? Of course the Taliban are not going to reach out and try to take over the world, but they are going to take over Afghanistan. Why? Because they can...

  15. I'm reminded of Hemingway's response to Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald: "Rich people are different from you and me." Hemingway: "Yes. They have more money."
