  1. I can't buy into your tinfoil hat conspiracy theories, but you DO hit on one key point quite accurately Canada is stuck in the no-man's land between the "everything is business" neighbour to the South and Uncle Karl;s "means of production" all belonging "to the people. But, being in that position, we need to learn what should be business and what should be public and social service. Sick care and health care are two of those that really need to be seen for what they are (or SHOULD be) - social service. This is a unique opportunity, since we can look at what others have done and choose to emulate success rather than failure. If you think back a bit, you might remember when Chairman Mao mouthed your words and tried to save his food supply system from exploitation of those horrible capitalistic farmers, so he nationaiized all of the land - and 100,000,000 or so Chinese starved to death. You see: very few governments EVER could organize a piss-up at a brewery. You might have noticed that the UK went through this pandemic by NOT relying on big Euro government - that pretty much screwed up totally - but took the national position of co-operating between business and government to develop its own vaccine technology AND production. The US went 90% business. BITH got the vaccine job done....the US at about $20 a dose and the UK at $2. Even China (who I can guarantee you has no desire or need to engage with Pfizer) used its Facist tactcics to exploit business to get the job done. We have VIDO, and they are a great resource - but we need to think the whole thing through to get the right balance between state and citizen to make it work.

  2. Brace yourself! A recent Bloomberg opinion piece by Andreas Kluth throws shade on the notions that are continually recirculated that yes, Covid-19 is bad, but don't worry, it will be over soon and then we can go back to normal. BECAUSE: With coronavirus mutations pitted against vaccinations in a global arms race, we may never go back to normal. Conservatives and rightwingers of all stripes hate change, but no matter how much conservatives cry and throw tantrums, along with throwing their toys at us for being in the way or perceived to be in the way of what they want, the world isn't going back to the way it was in 2019! Anyway, back to Bloomberg:

  3. For some reason satire and sarcasm seems to escape you people. He wasn't being serious, he was making a point. A series of points. Specifically referencing incidents in the past, like when reporters asked Ted Cruz, who's fully vaccinated, to wear a mask while speaking to them, because he made them uncomfortable. Even though they were also dozens of feet away. You people just don't get it. You never do. It's entertaining as hell though!

  4. Now he's telling people to tell other people wearing masks to take them off because they masks make them feel uncomfortable. What a bunch of pansies. He also telling people to accuse parents of kids wearing masks of child abuse. The guy is an absolute menace.

  5. Complete nonsense. There will be no permanent pandemic. This is panic porn at it's best. The world is already going to back to pre-covid days. Take a look at Britain, Israel and the United States for example.

  6. Diseases impose rules, they always have. Modern medicine and hygiene has just made humans complacent. Because we haven't seen anything like this people don't believe it can happen. 300 years ago pandemics were a fact of life.

  8. I haven't seen the documentary for some reason...even though it's still available for free on Youtube! But the title "Michael Moore Presents" is a clue that very little of the actual work is from the mind of Michael Moore .... which may be a good thing. The actual producer, director and writer - Jeff Gibbs, making Moore the backseat driver - executive producer. I'm sure they thought that would help promote the film, but Michael Moore doesn't have firsthand knowledge of climate issues, so when he was later confronted by media attacks and bought and paid for environment experts like Mr. 350 - Bill McKibben, he ran, and didn't want to do many public appearances...likely for the first time in his life! Maybe the reason why I haven't been in too big of a hurry to watch the whole movie is because, from what I've seen of it in clips and the first 10 or 15 minutes, I was already familiar with the main theme that pours cold water on notions that global warming can be fixed by techno-solutions: windmills, solar panels and especially building millions of electric cars, since one of the main experts is Australian environmentalist - Ozzie Zehner, a long time critic of big green capitalists like McKibben who took off when Al Gore recreated himself as an environment hero 20 years ago. Zehner's book Green Illusions gave me answers I wanted and apparently a lot of other people needed 8 or 9 years ago, when we first started topping the dreaded 400 ppm carbon threshold, and Mr. 350 and friends were still spinning their wheels about the need to act quickly. When green tech partnered with bankers and created green investments and green industries, then it became obvious they were pedaling bullshit for money. When Bill McKibben buys a big, multimillion dollar mansion in upstate Vermont. Simple, unavoidable truth is ensuring a livable climate for future generations is going to require a whole range of changes in the way we do business today.

  11. And yet, Canada is begging for covid vaccines from other nations, including the U.S. and India, because it did not develop, test, or manufacture covid vaccine domestically, or maintain the capability to do so. Economics 101.
