Yer a commie Grand Mal. I like yer name. I have political seizures myself all the time. Now mind you I hate Trudeau with a passion but I have a different perspective on native rights to access to land than many on this board based on legal doctrine I believe allows natives to make the arguments they are now making and I think some people under-estimate the legal application of the Charter or Rights and certain legal doctrine in regards to native rights if this goes to court. I think this issue needs calmness regardless of who handles it and I think it will be settled. This issue is a symptom of a larger constellation of underlying legal issues that have never been resolved with the indigenous and festers like a rotting wound.2 points

Betsy, if the End of Days are nigh too isn't all this political stuff really neither here nor there in the bigger scheme of things you believe in? Why in Heaven's name do you care in the least little bit about all this worldly nonsense?2 points

To some of us, this is just another footnote in history, but to my darling wife, it is a sad reminder of what one of her beloved aunts survived. She also suffered serious health problems directly as a result of her time there, as no doubt many others did. Sometimes I worry that the constant and consistent rehash of the Holocaust risks fomenting the anger of the skinhead types, and that is no doubt true. But, if you have EVER heard first hand accounts of the Nazi death camps or for that matter the Japanese occupation of China (as I have), then you know that these stories really MUST be told.1 point

People are losing jobs. Commodities aren't being delivered. Prices will go up - supply and demand. Propane is being rationed. We might even have a shortage of clean water. And yet, Trudeau wouldn't make any decisive decisions. Our national security is at stake - this could descend into chaos! Let's face it: Trudeau is a deer caught in the headlights. He's frozen stiff! It's the same thing that happened over his slow response to Canadians in Wuhan. It seems he's so afraid to make any decisions. Can the Opposition get together and boot out Trudeau over this blockade crisis? Can they cite non-confidence over his non-existing leadership?1 point

I think that if this opens up any can of worms it will be whether we, as a country, deal with hereditary chiefs at all or if we just deal with the elected first nations leaders. These hereditary chiefs might actually be screwing their progeny several generations worth of cushy jobs if it turns out they're going against the will of the vast majority of their people and the collective good of the tribes. We'll see if tribes want hereditary chiefs at all or if they want some democracy of their own. I know that I don't want the monarchy calling all the shots for Canada and I don't think Brits want that either.1 point

I freely admit to being conservative. Which is why I don't like Trump.1 point

And why would that be? Because of the amazing competence the Liberals have displayed thus far?1 point

Oh, too bad . Guess I'll go hang myself in the barn. Canada, by any standards, is one of the best places in the world to live. So much so that a case could be made that anyone who doesn't like living here probably wouldn't like living anywhere. That said, better a sister in a whore-house than a brother in the Conservative Party.1 point

All the parties are broke from the last election, so none of them are prepared for another election right now. An election being the only outcome, since the Conservatives can never be part of the Supreme Soviet with the NDP & Greens1 point

Yes, you are correct, they're not participating in the Paris Accord, their successful reductions in emissions has been done on their own. So what? Are you interested in real results, or to just demagogue the issue?1 point

Also true. So maybe lay off shaming people who comment on this thread. Since you're here returning to the "vomit" as well.1 point

Not true at all. You just pick your battles very poorly when it comes to Trump and Bojo and you don't like that I call you out on it. When you pick your battles better, I give you credit for it, when you don't, I don't give you credit for a thing you didn't do.1 point

I agree. Stop repeating false facts, and start repeating current, true facts. Yes, The U.S. Leads All Countries In Reducing Carbon Emissions https://www.forbes.com/sites/rrapier/2017/10/24/yes-the-u-s-leads-all-countries-in-reducing-carbon-emissions/#25afd33535581 point

There were no conflicting eyewitness accounts. Also the arguments you make do not mean he did not do what he did they simply raise legal procedural issues that nullify his conviction not that he threw the grenade. The fact is the trajectory was proven. It could not have come from anyone else and there were no other witnesses who said it was thrown by someone else. You missed the point and evidence with due respect and the exercise of defining Kadr as a victimized child is romantic but does not explain why today he profits from what he did and has not seen fit as a true Muslim to evidence repentance and provide money to the widow and not profit personally from the death of another. You can romanticize and turn Kadr into a martyr but the fact remains he is an unrepentant Muslim and using the faith doctrine he claims to follow he is a bad Muslim. Intteresting. There are some on this form who claim Islam is peaceful and does not condone terrorism but do not point out why Islam would not condone what Kadr did and is doing. I do. I am trying to be consistent and show Muslim terrorists like Kadr use Islam to be terrorist and then Westerners make apologies for this bastardization of Islam and look the other way. I repeat again Islam does not condone terrorism or profiting from the death of another and it requires repentance for the killing of another, all things Kadr violated and in his religion he claims to follow he has no excuses for his life today based on blood money and refusing to acknowledge what he did. I argue Kadr shows no repentance because he is a sociopath. His lack of emotions and rehearsed answers all these years later show a manipulative, cold blooded individual. In the future Kadr will snap. It will happen one day at his wife, at one of his children, at a stranger but its only a matter of time until he snaps and rages. Been there done that. He's know cuddly puppy. He is a wild animal. You do not take wild animals home as pets.1 point

He threw it in the heat of the moment but there was no doubt from the trajectory it could only have been from him. No one contested that. Its a fact that spoke for itself and could not be denied. The arguments used to get him off were based on is testimony coming from forced confession and a fa failure to properly disclose evidence to him used against him two violations of his rights under the US constitution. The entire argument of those who now lionize Kadr is that he was a victimized brainwashed child. He is now an adult, 10 million in his pocket and still as unrepentant as ever profiting from the terrorism he engaged in.1 point

Trump bangs porn stars and uses campaign money to try and shut them up. Jim Bakker is a devout evangelical and he too bangs porn stars and uses contributions to his church to shut them up. Trump is therefore a Christian.1 point

Can you imagine the screaming you'd have been be engaged in if our puny capacity to contribute to the cause was cited as an excuse for not fighting Hitler? In any case if China and India aren't pulling their weight we have no business selling them the means to to pull it even less. Speaking of tyrants no one seems to be very keen on addressing how it is after sacrificing trillions of dollars and millions of lives trying to keep oil out of the hands of communist dictatorships people can't get it into their hands fast enough. What's with that anyway?1 point

Also this is more about politics and issues between the various Chiefs.. read this...https://www.jlsreport.com/.../16/wolves-in-fancy-blankets/ Terri Tiljoe I see all these posts supporting a few OW Hereditary Chiefs but what I don't see is the Wetsuweten people speaking up about how this office operates. I get it though, I live on Westbank First Nation, I see exactly how opportunities are disbursed based on whether you are "one of them" or "one of us". Luckily, I also lived up in Houston BC and know first hand about the motives of some of the OW Hereditary Chiefs. My husband is the late Larry Tiljoe, a member of the Witset Band, Gilseyhu Clan and Unistoten "family" line. The Tiljoe family have lived and worked, off reserve, in the Houston area their entire lives. Larry's father is Russell Tiljoe, Russell's father was Alex Tiljoe, the late Chief Namox. Larry's mother Elsie, is the granddaughter of Christine Holland, the late Chief Knedebeas. Elsie and Larry both hold trapline rights along the pipeline within Knedebeas territory and the family has a long standing and significant connection to the land in and around Houston and the Knedebeas territories. In 1993, we started a silviculture business, Nadina Mountain Contracting, located within the Morice Forest District. Our goal was to become a sustainable First Nation contractor who harvested, replanted and rejuvenated the areas we harvested. We managed our contracts and ensured their successful completion and established solid working relationships with local forestry industry key players. We employed many people from Moricetown to Burns Lake, both Native and non-Native. We were employed full time managing the land and forest health, building our business. Then the Office of the Wetsuweten of the Hereditary Chiefs came along. cont...1 point

Trudeau delivers more meaningless platitudes about dialogue and sharing while the protestors give him the middle finger. Even the Mohawk chief has said the blockade should end, but those boys are having fun and they've got Trudeau in a box. No doubt they think they can squeeze a few million out of him to let the trains go on. Trudeau's words later were kind of indicative of his personality when he decided to hold a meeting with opposition leaders - but not Andrew Scheer, the leader of the opposition. He said Scheer disqualified himself because of his 'unacceptable speech'. I know Trudeau deeply admires China's basic dictatorship but he doesn't get to say anyone's speech is unacceptable because it isn't up to him to accept it or not. https://nationalpost.com/news/politics/trudeau-on-the-blockades-we-need-to-find-a-solution-and-we-need-to-find-it-now?video_autoplay=true1 point

My understanding is that the grenade was thrown after the American troops could safely approach the building to determine is there were any terrorists left alive. Khadr was the only one alive - logically, it was only he who could have thrown it. This makes sense because Speers was a medic and would not have been approaching the building at any other time except after the firefight. EDIT: No, I'm mistaken, I was thinking of another case. Nevermind.1 point

Religion is truly for fools who cannot stand up on their own two feet. Religion has become a crutch for those weak minded people. I remember working with a woman who tried to convince me that there is a God. I asked her as to how she would know that there is a God? All I got from her was "well, I just know". I said that is it? She just smiled back, and took off. Aw well.1 point

You have to be joking... alleged gossip !! This is part of the problem deflection, denial and coverups allowed this all to go on for years While it is a narrative it's a real one, confirmed over and over again by reports, the first from Rotherham. This is nothing but an attempt to deflect from the atrocities and horrors of 'Asian grooming gangs'... a name also meant to deflect from reality, so let's call them what they are, mostly Muslim rape gangs. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-459188451 point

In regards to the first paragraph the sites you refer to are run by neo Nazi holocaust deniers and were clearly proven false. In regards to the second paragraph the role of Japan and Italy has clearly been covered in history. Your subjective ontention it has not is contradicted by public archives. Your ignorance of those discussion does not mean they do not exist but do evidence you are ignorant of them and again are only to happy to illustrate your ignorance. Your last paragraph is classic holocaust denial and trivialization and you again refer to yourself as a "we" thinking this makes your opinions shared and therefore more credible. You are no we. Your words are your own and simply reflect your neo Nazi agenda. You came on this this thread to hijack it and deny the holocaust and trivialize it. Y Your hijacking has nothing to do with the topic. Go start a thread denying the holocaust.1 point

Not on the horizon, the substitute is right here right now. Electric technology is advancing at a geometric rate. Electric planes, ships, buses, all are either commercially viable right now or just on the doorstep. Of course it won't happen overnight and of course there'll always be a need for oil products but not all oil products are fuel.1 point
