  1. The anti-immigrant sentiment has always been there through many waves of newcomers, but it is more viral and more virulent and does seem more manufactured now. I'm not really sure whose purposes it serves ... but I think it's very sad that some people spend their lives trying to make up reasons to hate other human beings. Hark! Here's one now. Lol

  2. I prefer hard working janitors and uber drivers than those who feel superior and full of air looking down at others who may not be as fortunate. As for drug dealers it is pure nonsense without a shred of evidence and fact. Lies and false allegations.I see hard working immigrants in my every day life. There are some portion who turn criminals or involved in criminal activities but by far a tiny minority.

  3. We are 'importing' tradesmen through the immigration program. We are also 'importing' people in other sectors that are desperately needed in Canada. There is ample evidence that we have labour shortage and this labour shortage is affecting businesses in a negative way. Stop denying facts: No one said they stop paying taxes. What was said was that the retired don't pay enough towards social services to make up for what they're costing social services. Thanks for the 2014 article. The article says that there are areas that there is a shortage of skilled workers. Really? You're so desperate in trying to cover the misinformation you're trying to spread in regards to immigration, that you've gone as low as finding some opinion piece that misrepresents the reality? Shame on you. This opinion piece, devoid of any reference to statistics is from someone who is probably in his 80s or maybe even 90s. This is a guy who defended Slobodan Milošević. The total number admitted through the economic category was 155,994, which is majority of the immigrants coming to Canada. This whole thing about "everyone in the family must be assessed for language" is not going to fly. It's about whether or not an immigrant can become economically established and how well they will do in the long run, including their children. As I have shown you repeatedly, the children of immigrants end up doing quite well in education and filling skilled jobs. They do better than non-immigrants. Especially those from China, India and the Middle East. Here are the statistics in regards to the immigrants admitted into Canada, including those coming in under the Economic programs - This information, which confirms what I have said, which is majority of immigrants who come to Canada, come through the Economic category. The few who are coming in, who fall under what you're describing end up having children who do well, as I keep showing you and as you keep disregarding. Calm down Trump. How about I am going to continue to live in Canada, while promoting real Canadian values, and you can go and isolate yourself, repeating misinformation, avoiding reality in your bubble of ignorance and bigotry.

  4. You continue to try and find some evil group responsible for making Canadians unhappy with immigration, and all you demonstrate is how out of touch with reality you are. Corporate Canada is and has always been enthusiastic supporters of wide open immigration. They're the ones who benefit from it, after all.

  5. No, it's just the same old prejudice, in particular anti-Muslim prejudice now, and business leaders stirring up those prejudices among people who are fearful for their jobs. Keeps them subservient so they don't ask for raises, and if they lose their job, they'll blame 'the immigrants' instead of their bosses. Lol

  6. I have read before that a lot of the motivation among young Hong Kong residents is their lack of hope for the future even as it is. The costs of living there are enormous, and their chances of ever having enough money to even rent their own place is slim. Harsh working conditions, poor wages for most, and no hope for the future makes young people willing to do just about anything.

  7. "One would assume" incorrectly. The NDP's record on the environment is not much different from that of other parties.

  8. Nationalism does not imply racism. Wanting to protect your country's culture, values and beliefs is not racist. Nor is there any evidence that countries which do so suffer from any sort of condemnation.

  10. There is no labour shortage, as attested to by the parliamentary budget office, except in areas like agriculture and fisheries, because people don't want to go to those places and do manual labour - not when they have pogey to fall back on. Other shortages are fleeting, or based on the growing habit of business to refuse to pay reasonable wages, and to instead whine to the government so they can hire TFWs. 65% of graduating computer engineers left Canada last year. Meanwhile, technology companies whined to government about labour shortages, and imported thousands and thousands of workers from India and China willing to work cheap. Also, your Wall-O-Pictograms impress no one but the weak minded, and make it difficult to respond to your posts. The only additional social services they use are health care. And clearly that isn't an issue for a government intent on bringing hundreds of thousands of elderly immigrants to Canada in the coming years. Yes, but that number includes both the principal applicant, ie, the skilled person, and his wife and children. Therefore the actual number of skilled people who come in is only 17%, as written by the cite I posted - by a former head of Immigration Canada. It's about how well they do NOW, not how their children do. If it was about their kids then we'd have no need of a points system since we could just bring in anyone, knowing their kids would perform well here. So then why have a points system at all? Why not just open the borders and let anyone in? Why? I mean that honestly. You clearly don't like Canadians. You don't know, respect or share Canadian values. Your belief any but a minority agree with your eagerness to drown this country in ever larger numbers of immigrants only demonstrates that further.

  11. I watched the video, if that's what you mean. Is that good enough? Seinfeld and Rock are number one in their field. These people are at the top of the media food chain, commanding TV air time, movies etc. You know that. I could find more people saying this if it helps. I didn't say that now, you're putting words in my mouth etc. We are threatened by it, but I was discussing a particular aspect of the problem. You conflate this with blanket dismissal. This is off topic now, no connection to thread. Besides, it seems you are n a bad mood today, after I dissed your favourite comedian. Terribly sorry

  12. 1. Did you go to see this person's achievements ? 2. 'Professional comedians' ? I'm a professional comedian. Seinfeld and Rock have their opinions, and I respect them but 'free speech under threat' is a horseshit meme. You want to tell us that saying we're threatened by climate change is a 'lie', then apply the same metric for 'truth' to what you post.

  13. You are spreading false information. No pilot I have spoken to has been anything less than over the top enthusiastic about the game changing nature of F-35, including an ex-RCAF CF-18 pilot who lives just down the street from me here, and Lockheed Martin test pilot Billie Flynn who is the most combat experienced CF-18 pilot of them all. Its has nothing to do with arrogance, it's like going from Flip phone to iPhone and complaining that is doesn't flip anymore, which you might be doing, but which the pilots do not do. The pilots more than anyone understand how to exploit the technology, and this is a young force, these are Millennial pilots now, so it works the way they are used to working. Unlike a 4th generation fighter, there are no blind spots on the jet at all, it's staring IRST hemispheric coverage out to beyond visual range. The jet is looking in all directions, you don't need a bubble canopy anymore, because nobody can sneak past the infrared all seeing eye, it detects other fighters before they are in visual range with the naked eye.

  14. 1. That's horseshit. We are expressing more opinions than ever and discussing more than ever. Even this meme, which is essentially a FOX News talking point, is free speech 2. I disagree. But it's off-topic. Suffice it to say that this person was featured on the radio 'this week, in Islam'.

  17. Pointing out that our points system prioritizes economic advantages for Canada, also. Side note: you have done a great job of backing up your points. People who claim that there's not enough dialogue on immigration pretty much always side with low-information emotive arguments. And then they claim that people 'shut down' the arguments. Well, make one then.

  18. The increasing anger towards heavy immigration has nothing to do with conservative politicians, since all conservative politicians have always been enthusiastic supporters of mass immigration up until this year when Maxine Bernier became the first to call for lowering immigration. It has to do with ever increasing numbers of immigrants in Canadian communities, ever increasing numbers coming in, and a deliberate attempt by those on the Left, especially Justin Trudeau, to play identity politics.

  20. This is all due to institutional Inertia. DND never thinks outside of its box. DND simply tries to rebuild itself in its own Cold War image as the Government tries to dismantle. The vast majority of Canadians haven't got a clue about the big picture, to include those who are serving in the CF, most pers in the CF actually drink most of the Kool-Aid which comes down from NDHQ. Even in the case of throwing Mark Norman under the bus, DND pers rallied around the CDS, cronyism is rampant in the CF.

  21. Panther is better than Viper, but Viper is still way better than Super Hornet. Super Hornet is an orphaned fleet already, to go with Super Honet, Canada would be making the exact same mistake twice in a row. Which is typical Canada, once a warrior nation perhaps, however it is the arguably most unmartial country in the history of the world now.

  22. That being said, Viper is the Lawn Dart. The reason why Eagle Drivers call it that, is that if you go into the teeth of the advesary with Viper alone, you are going to suffer more attrition. But I don't take Lawn Dart as an insult, it's a badge of honor, reason being that Viper is meant to be affordable, best value, but not a replacement for Eagle. Viper is the lo asset in the hi-lo mix. Panther can do it all, Viper can't, but Viper can still do better than Super Hornet, Super Hornet is not junk, but Viper is still better for cheaper.

  23. LockMart is not offering the F-16 Block 70's for Canada's tender, as this would undermine F-35 JSF program sales. Canada is a dues paying, Tier 3 member of the F-35 JSF program...since 1997.

  24. Canada is such a vast country that I guess that it is not uncommon for many people in Toronto or Vancouver never even have visited the other city let alone live there. I think Toronto and Montreal know each other well and Vancouver and... Seattle on the other side of the national border know each other well.

  25. I would have believed that 20 years ago, but not now. Buying new aircraft and smart munitions is only part of the puzzle, as Canada lacks several other logistical capabilities and power projection autonomy. Basically, Canada is now incapable of independent strike missions abroad. Canada is no longer a military middle power.

  26. Canada would still be dependent on the Americans and more capable allies to achieve air superiority first...and at these force numbers we're talking one or maybe two squadrons of six at the most for NATO bullying (rest stay home for NORAD). Canada has never had the best tactical aircraft....the history is well documented....and yes...pilots and their families paid the price. Also, Canada's CF-18s never made it to A-stan...it was a war too far. Politically, it may just be a question of what kind of crow the Liberals want to eat, assuming they prevail in the next election.

  27. The Advanced Super Hornet will be more expensive than F-35 in the end. The "Advanced" aspect is that Boeing is loading technology into the Super Hornet to try to close the gap with F-35 It doesn't actually do that, it's not stealth, it does not include sensor fusion which is the heart of what makes the F-35 revolutionary. The kit Boeing is putting on the SH is still expensive, driving the price up, when combined with the lack of scale, puts it over the price of the F-35 Alpha Panther. Canada would be paying more for less, with no ability to upgrade later, other than adding F-35 to the Advanced Super Hornet in a hi-lo mix, in which the F-35 would be the hi asset. F-35 AN/ASQ-239 Barracuda Integrated Electronic Warfare suite, stealth is not just about being hard to detect, it is also about detecting the adversary radars to find out where the gaps are to then exploit those vectors for infil and exfil.
