I like it too for the most part but I do agree about someone continually cluttering threads with nutwing conspiracy theories but the worst part is the name calling. I don't know why people give him the time of day or respond to anything. Ignore is best IMO.2 points

As been said before, Trudeau didn't want the details coming out in court. When he says he had "no choice", he was right - in a way, just not in the way that you liberals believe. he was faced with exposing Chretien, Martin and his new poster boy Khadr for what they are. Fact is; Khadr had Trudeau over a barrel, not legally, but politically.2 points

That's because this thread is worth less than zilch commenting on.1 point

President Trump is not an ideology but rather a symptom and reflexive rejection of Liberal and globalist ideologies. Trump's impact and domination of the political space in Canada is a longstanding dominance and neurosis irrespective of ideology or political party. Trump is the president of a foreign country who dares to confront radical Islam for what it is and has been long before he was elected. The Canadian political framework is not robust enough to handle such political extremes because it is balanced far to the left.1 point

I have, what I believe, is a commonsense, realist view of things. I could support a Trump, but only if he had some intelligence and integrity (he doesn't), and the policies he called for made sense and would benefit the country and society (his don't). No one who argues politics with any degree of passion doesn't 'care'. And as a realist I pay attention to the evidence and not absurd theories. Ditto. There is a place for progressives, but only under the jaundiced eye of conservatives to make sure they don't do too many bloody silly things too damned often. We built this country and we don't want you wrecking it. And in my view it has, in many ways, done just that. And certainly with regard to the topic of this thread, with regard to Immigration, who gets to come to Canada and live here, and why and how many, it has.1 point

If a poster is "cluttering" threads with, say, conspiracy theories - you know Charles would just tell you to "ignore and report". For the longer term members, think back on your time here....there have been so many people like this on here over the years that you can't count them all.... Lictor666 - everything was "why whites are superior" Norman Chateau - everything was "Harper is evil" The "Mohawk Warrior" guy - everything was "Mohawks of Six Nations will take back their land" MikeDavid (and all of his subsequent incarnations) - everything was "don't Tax Me" and "homosexuals are what's wrong with this country" Me! - everything is "Alberta rocks - everything else sucks, especially Notley and Trudeau" I know the best way to "deal with" posters like this are to completely ignore them, but even if everyone did, they would just come back in one form or another. It can be too much fun poking the bear in these cases - I just try not to do it too much. And are these people really breaking any forum rules (any more than the rest of us)? If someone calls a past US politician a war criminal, is that technically incorrect? Imagine if you were living in the country where the "war action" took place - maybe they DO refer to that person as a war criminal.1 point

Do you think those children come up with the idea of amputating their fingers alone, or do you think their parents came up with that idea and did that for them? You have no legal grounds for demanding that a kid 'escape' from their parents. That's ridiculous. Omar wasn't a crazed jihadist seeking death. He was trying hard to live. Your verbal gymnastics are impressive only because they are completely nonsensical, outlandish and entirely irrelevant.1 point

Can tell you have probably had NO exposure to young offenders either before or in those years right after their coming of age. Secondly: to a jihadist, death is the reward, not the punishment. So you are saying it was one thing for him to do what he did because he should have feared death, but what he was trained and compelled to do was 100% likely to result in his death and that was obviously NOT a deterrent to his criminal activity. In my interesting times, I have had the tremendous privilege and pleasure of getting to know many Vietnamese refugees who came to Canada three + decades ago. A child raised under war conditions does not mature at the same rate that a molly-coddled suburbanite who's greatest fear is losing his cell phone text privileges for a day. It was common practice for Vietnamese boys EXACTLY at the age of Omar to amputate their own trigger finger to avoid conscription and thus being forced to kill their countrymen. IF Khadr had any moral compass at all, he probably had many opportunities to escape from his situation, but he did not. He instead by all reports enthusiastically went forward to potentially kill his countrymen and fellow citizens.1 point
-
And isn't that convenient for the Conservative party who push the lie that Khadr is being rewarded for being a terrorist instead of the truth ... Which is that Canada - led by Chretien and then Harper - screwed up, and now we're paying that piper.1 point

Again crap. What laws. There are no laws as to how to treat terrorists while they are overseas engaging in terrorism. Thus the vacuum that led to the attempt by Bush to create a law to address that vacuum that was found unconstitutional by the US Supreme Court. Had there been an international convention as to how to treat terrorists none of this would have happened. The reason none exists internationally has nothing to do with our government. It has to do with the member nations of the UN the majority of which engage in human rights violations. Canada has an existing framework of criminal law regarding treason and Trudeau has chosen not to charge Kadr with treason because he is considered a "youth" at the time of such crimes. The Youth Offender laws did not contemplate and were never drafted for terrorist behaviour and treason, Sow hat friggin law do you refer to or is this another one of your fabricated legal concepts? Various governments. Yah spit it out. Iran? Afghanistan? Iraq? The entire UN has failed to address terrorism because its corrupted by human rights violating regimes. In the interim with this legal vacuum of NON EXISTING LAWS which created this current fiasco, we have a genius who when not marching in pride parades and posing for feel good photo ops sets a precedent that terrorists can rely on our Charter of Rights to get compensation when they are apprehended. Oh Canada WE stand on guard for terrorists. True Patriot Love in All Our Terrorists' demands. With cowardly hearts WE see thee cower.. etc.1 point

Hmmm. you mean he was held for about the same length of time many residential school victims were subject to physical and mental abuse while forcibly removed from their homes and family? IMHO, that has already set a precedent of how much award should be - around $25,000 IIRC. Where this whole affair is so far off track, is that anyone with any sense at all can see what the Kadhr family was...and probably IS to this very day. Omar wasn't plucked out of his peaceful, safe home by the government and spirited away to a church, he was taken BY HIS PARENTS into the darkest place on Earth these days. The reason we are having this discussion is that our government let them stay here when they had already become widely known as actively and deeply involved in funding, promoting and prosecuting terrorism. Giving him a pass because he was a dependent minor might have flown with Canadians, but rewarding him for what he did to such a ridiculous extent is so far over the top - it clearly demonstrates just how broken our government and our courts have become. Yes, lest anyone else wants to go there: David Milgaard received $10mm for being wrongfully imprisoned for 23 years - but let's make this one thing very, very clear: Milgaard was completely innocent of any wrongdoing - whereas Kadhr had already been training and preparing to be a terrorist and acting out fully the crimes of same potentially against Canadian citizens (who were in Afganistan of course). If nothing else, Kadhr should be compensating Canada and the USA for removing him from his parents' influence that would likely have resulted in a far worse outcome for him and his victims. Take a look at reality: he is a free man enjoying the benefits of living in the greatest country on Earth. Do you think he would enjoy this status if left to his parents until he was 18?????1 point

See I told you I'd have to explain it again. Fine don't take my word for it, but that will at least give you a reason to bleat and moan about everything I post and call me names. That's pretty low , even for you Rue. See ?? Hey Moderation, this is why we can't have nice thing here. I post something then get called an anti-semite. What gives? I mean this has been going on for years now where I always have to explain to Rue and to Doggy that I am no jew hater. But no matter how many times I stress that and correct their errors, I am still called the jew hater.1 point

Sorry to disappoint you but I do not love Henry but not for the reasons you think. I don't love Henry because being Canadian my focus is on my country's politics. You're all over the map which may explain why you don't make much sense on either subject.1 point

You think the Conservatives are going to try to drag their racist nonsense all the way through the next election? https://www.thebeaverton.com/2017/07/tories-offer-omar-khadr-10-5-million-stay-news-next-election/ Hahahaha! Surely to goodness even Conservative Canadians will see through that gutter dog whistle politics by then! Don't you get tired of jumping and barking every time they blow the race whistle at you?1 point

I'm not happy at all about the out of court secretive deal hatched by Trudeau. I would have loved to have this matter drag on in the courts just for everyone to hear a recounting in a court setting about how Khadr Junior gleefully built bombs and, fought against Canada and her allies (which may have cost more lives than the hapless US medic he killed with a grenade}. And loved to hear aloud about his family and their treasonous actions against our country over many years; said testimony recorded for future repeating and the object of case studies in universities. Hell, Trudeau spends our tax money like a drunken sailor so what's a few more million? An expenditure worthwhile to see him squirm as Chretien and Martin try to defend their actions in letting the traitor sit in Gizmo. Yes indeed money well spent for a change to have the Liberals in the hot seat again as with Adscam. Maybe Chretien has a few golf balls left over from that inquiry that he can pull out of a bag to try to change the channel and divert away from him. Bunch of posers the lot of them.1 point

Yes the law does say that governments are liable. What's the point of a Charter of Rights if we can't enforce it? Yes there were settlements paid to residential school victims too, whether enough remains debatable. The Catholics? The government isn't complicit in that.1 point

In Trudeau's case, his good looks ensure his ability to please just about everybody, especially milenials caught up in physical self beautification and selfies. I'm convinced his looks and the family name are the reasons he finds himself as PM. Case in point, he hasn't accomplished much in the way of governance since coming into power and in addition he's well on his way to bankrupting the country.1 point

I'm not at all surprised that you think McCain had a brain, nor am I surprised that you would support a vicious war criminal, liar, and genuinely despicable "human".1 point

You have bunched every group together like they're all the same. They're not. Regardless, you are wrong again. I don't support any of these groups. You, however, support a terrorist state.1 point

Don't get me wrong. I like the lack of moderation. However, I think it hurts the board when the post of someone bent on derailing a topic, is allowed to clutter the thread. It's up to the moderator to judge whether a post has to be removed, or moved where appropriate. What reader won't get fed up sifting and wading through pages of clutters? Especially when a poster keeps bringing up the same issue everywhere! How is this going to attract any new members? That's what they do in busy, high-traffic forums! They don't let loose "children" to have their fit however they please all over the board......mods guard the board so it won't eventually become dead!1 point

No laws were broken. They did not issue death threats, nor call for the death of any person or group. They didn't advocate violence in any form, unlike the reaction we've seen by some on the left.1 point

Interesting that the same ones who are "outraged" by this, have no problem with a terrorist and murderer.1 point

Hmm. What did they do? They sent a nasty note to some people. Is that illegal? They suggested they bury their 'dirty carcasses' at a hog farm. Rude, sure, insensitive, sure, insulting, sure. When has any of that been illegal? There was no threat involved, just rudeness. If rudeness was illegal everyone on this web site would be in jail.1 point
