No cultural principles. Cultural principal A: Women are equal and must be treated equally. Cultural principal B: Women must be subservient to men, and cannot be treated equally. How do you negotiate between these two basic cultural principles without simply choosing the one you like - which will be based on your own cultural principle. I might choose the first, but my Egyptian neighbour would definitely choose the second.1 point

I know who it was, I can read and comprehend. His response was an answer to your question, and not actually about you. Let me help you a little... The nature of domestic violence (in Iran) is complicated by both a national culture and authoritative state that support control, oppression and violence against women. Domestic Violence in Iran It's the same patriarchy that exists, culturally and legally, across the whole Middle East. You have tried to disassociate the two, and by this post are proven to have utterly failed. There is no disconnect between a culture and a law.1 point

Agreed. Not every target is defended by SAMs and AAA. Stealth is essential when facing multiple SAM threats from rigs like the S-300/S-400...if those beasts can't see you....gold. And they are fairly effective...beasts.1 point

There is a an paved airstrip in yellowknife with military air force presence, meaning refueling assets etc....along with other airstrips in the north that can be used year round and could be used as FOB's for jet aircraft. CFS Alert is one, there are others.1 point

Plenty of things can happen immediately, like the stock market, investors moving their funds to a different place, employers making announcements that what they're doing is in support of the new administration's direction. Confidence alone can accomplish quite a lot. But there is more than just simply confident reactions happening. One of Trumps primary themes is to get manufacturers to move jobs back to America. Several companies came forward with announcements to that effect. Example- The chief executive of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles said his company could quickly move production of Ram heavy-duty pickup trucks to Michigan from Mexico if President Donald J. Trump's "America First" economic plan provides enough incentives. "Properly motivated, it could be executed very quickly by FCA," possibly by 2019 or 2020, Sergio Marchionne told analysts during a conference call to discuss the company's record financial results for 2016. Simple question- If the past two months had been a complete shit-show for the economy, would the news be otherwise? Would that be considered the fault of Donald Trump? Why yes. Yes it would.1 point

Yes it would but there are plenty of situations when stealth is not the prime consideration.1 point

When you come from a culture that chops people's heads off in public stadiums, or right in the streets, for committing perceived "moral offences" against Allah, it's not an excuse. Whenever executions are carried out publicly in Iran, children are often among the spectators. Iranian journalist Mokhtar Khandani said, "In Kermanshah, where I reside, I see in many places that street executions are carried out. At such venues, unfortunately I see a lot of children who are there and witness the scene. In the eyes of some children, it might seem like a game." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_executions_in_Iran This is a culture where brutality is completely normalized. You are however free to make excuses for them...1 point

Thats ok, when the Christian god made females from one of Adams ribs he made them ready to get #$%ked and make a baby at age 10-13. Not surprising that the three Abrahamic religions are so disgusting - that despicable maggot Abraham was going to casually burn his son to death because voices in his head told him to.1 point

Good article. Not entirely convincing on every point, but certainly thought-provoking (I've read Guns Germs and Steel but that was ~20 years ago). One point in particular that I find not very convincing is his claim that the spread of domestic animals was limited in the Americas because of the long north-south extent of the Americas but relatively short east-west extent, as compared to Eurasia. At their wider points, both north and south America are 2000-3000 miles wide, allowing horizontal ranges for domesticated animals that would allow their spread among dozens if not hundreds of separate societies, just as in Eurasia.1 point

That isn't an apt saying, nor is it correct. The test isn't that there are evil Democrats, there are. The test is that Trump maintains a moral standard and the frequent times he hasn't he has and will be called on it.1 point

No he doesn't/isn't...President Trump can do whatever the hell he wants to do short of breaking the law. The world sure as hell isn't going to turn to Justin Trudeau to be the "leader of the free world". Clinton and Obama blamed Bush for their troubles too....big deal. But I do agree with you....the business of Americans is for Americans....not wannabes in the peanut gallery. Canadian illegals shouldn't be voting in U.S. elections...hell...they shouldn't even be in the damn country.1 point

I already provided the facts...a Canadian illegal was arrested and charged for voting in many U.S. elections.1 point

I think there already was a defence which has performed well over the past decade. They weren't calling for the increases they received, at the expense of the poor and elderly. Don't you think the rich could have shouldered some of that burden if it were necessary, or do you approve of their extreme tax cuts in favour of cutting Meals on Wheels?1 point

You moderators just refuse to get it, this thread like hundreds of others in this forum are mere asides to the unresolved unmitigated core of the topic which of course is the Wests violent and abusive interference in the ME. Its exactly like sexual abuse in a family, Until such time as that core problem of abuse is resolved and mitigated the dysfunction it's caused will never go away. Ever. Get used to it.1 point

Trump’s Second Bid at Travel Ban Knocked Down by Two U.S. Judges https://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2017-03-15/trump-s-second-travel-ban-is-blocked-by-u-s-judge-j0bk602s What is so ridiculous about this ban is that it uses ordinary genuine immigrants as hostage under the pre-text of security whilst neglecting the real factors...Now the Courts in Hawaii and Maryland halt revised executive order1 point

If you don't get this simple fact then there's no point to discuss this with further with you. Better still if you want to stick to your one liner slandering better not waste my time...1 point

People seem to think the F-35 is the only fighter ever built with one engine. But going against 5th gen fighters, it does not matter how many engines the hornets have.1 point
-
And more than 4 engines. Not far from my abode is a B-36 wreck that went down due to icing of the engine carb intake ducts...three iced-up and then caused fires. Nice ol' reliable piston engines...as opposed to jets. Having the other three working didn't help... Moral of Story: Aircraft are built to certain specs...if it comes with two engines...it needs two engines.1 point

Conservatives lost because it was about that time, because people were tired of their alleged meanness, because the left hated Harper so much they abandoned the NDP to ensure he lost, because the economy took a temporary downward tilt, because Trudeau seemed young and handsome and pleasant, and because he promised them what his dad did, lots of free government services. That last played especially well in the Maritimes.1 point

They're children who are being abused... the state should take them away and find parents for them... not leave them with a pedophile because they're "married". ETA: And the "husband" (pedophile) should be immediately jailed and then deported.1 point

It is a tough situation. It reminds me of a tribe I read about many years ago in New Guinea (I think) in which 12-year-old boys were selected by older males. The boys lived with the men, including having sexual relations with them, until they were of marriage age, when they married females. Sounds horrific, but it seems the boys not chosen were devastated and it affected their standing in the tribe thereafter. The boys who were chosen seemed to suffer no ill-effect and were considered better marriage material. Things like this makes immorality such a context-specific word. I don't agree that very young people should have to get married, but in that specific context, perhaps it was absolutely the best and most moral thing for them. Perhaps ensuring they now have the choice and support to leave or stay is the most moral way forward.1 point
