We all saw the news, Alberta separatists have 300,00 signatures, well surpassing the required 168,000. Given the sample size and demographic, it appears that Canada is in for more interesting times. Thoughts?

Mine is that there's a chance it could happen, but the fed will surely start making some big-money moves to quell the rebel uprising. Big promises and big funds.

The fed will do what it did with Quebec in 1995, hoping that once the payola starts rolling in, separatists will be ignored. On the other hand, real ideologues can't be easily bought.

And plus, I smell US meddling. When Uncle Sam sees a weakness, that's where they start to move in. And they know how to handle these things. Alberta the 51st state, with a pipeline all the way to Miami.

You all get to be Americans . Not just Alberta is the takeaway. As soon as Alberta leaves the entire make believe country of Canada crumbles.

Huh? I was not born in August 1991.

====

Quebec had two referendums (votes) on its participation in Canada.

Albertans (Canadians) have no idea what will happen next.

Canada has abused Alberta and Saskatchewan way too many times for there to be any trust. Especially with the Liberals.

I hope Canada can be saved but, I have my doubts.

I see a lot of comments online about "If Alberta separates, I'm moving there."

Nope.

When Alberta is gone, there will no longer be a Conservative party.  The rest of you will have Liberal governments in perpetuity.  You will continue to be taxed into oblivion, only for that money to go overseas to gender-sensitive rice farmers in Viet Nam and tranny bean farmers in the Congo and to Ukraine.  You will continue to pour money into Carney's Net Zero agenda, long abandoned by the rest of the world.

We don't want your sorry a$$es, save yourselves like we had to do.

The October referendum - it's not just about separation, a lot of questions about immigration.

Nope.  Not taking in charity cases who rob us blind any more.

Albertans don't see Canada getting better, only worse.  We stand a better shot on our own, come what may.

............... really don't see any geo-strategic value in Alberta............ in that respect I'd take Manitoba / B.C.?

Panhandle  makes B.C. particularly attractive.

How can a region with  limited population ......... no large cities; per se, zero ocean  access and a one horse pony re: revenue,  ever succeed as a country?

what am i missing?

Arguably worse would be Sask.

Alberta has more resources than just oil.

And we would have the freedom to develop them better.

Canada is signed on to the UN Convention on Transit Trade of Land-Locked Countries, wherein it is mandated that land-locked countries have the right to transit goods across the territories of transit states to or from a coastal port.

........... UN Convention?

So-called, transit states would hold Alberta at a negotiated disadvantage. (kitchen sink  negotiantion)

The only thing that makes sense is a move towards becoming a territory of the U.S.

Gotta wonder if that is not the 'play' .......... a stalking horse using Nationalism as the enticement.

Why not?

Canada doesn't want to be great.  Canada just wants to help every other country besides their own.

When this fails, can we count on you getting the hell out of Canada for good?

Why won't you answer the question?   I'd certainly hope you sorry ásses will leave when this fails.  Maybe that should be part of the referendum... 👍

And why would I leave, I'm proud to be a Canadian.

I suspect that the feds may make all kinds of announcements designed to appease the separatists but I suspect they're going to miss judge things a bit. And they certainly won't intend on following through very much of it

I  doubt the Americans care enough to participate. The realities were not actually talking about true separation here. He is unlikely that Alberta would actually become its own independent nation or break off to join the Americans. At best they would Negotiate some sort of sovereignty association agreement where they had much more independence in autonomy while still remaining part of Canada

One of the sponsors of the Alberta foreign interference report that came out yesterday, and that the media are now running with, is the Canadian Digital Media Research Network.

Guess who sponsors them? The Government of Canada.

Enjoy your PSYOP.
