Fastest growing industry since Carney’s been PM.  Lobbying.

There could have been a law but...oh well.  Maybe next time. If at first you don't succeed try try again.

Meanwhile...

Pierre Poilievre has faced criticism for continuing to interact with lobbyists despite his public declarations, such as his March 8, 2024, speech calling them "utterly useless" and his May 2024 memo advising CEOs to "fire your lobbyist".

Following these comments, documented interactions include:

Office Communications: A review of federal lobbying records found that Poilievre or his staff communicated with oil and gas industry lobbyists 46 times in the year ending June 2024.

Direct Meetings: As of May 2024, registry searches showed Poilievre had personally met with lobbyists 26 times over the preceding 12 months, including interactions that occurred shortly after his initial "useless" remarks in March.

Fundraising Events: Poilievre headlined roughly 50 private fundraisers between becoming leader in 2022 and May 2024. Investigations revealed that 29 out of 35 examined events were attended by at least one active or recent lobbyist. More than 100 active or recent lobbyists attended these "cash-for-access" events during his leadership.

Immediate Post-Speech Activity: Just days after his March 2024 speech, his staff participated in a "Hill Day" arranged by a lobby group—an event type Poilievre had specifically criticized.

While Poilievre maintains that he does not "need" lobbyists to understand Canadian interests, his office and party continue to engage with them through official registry reports and high-priced fundraising events.

Lol, meanwhile, what about Pierre! 🤣

What about the guy that has no legislative power, and hasn’t since 2014!  Classic whataboutism.  Keeping giving a pass to the Liberal government, now in power for going on 11 years.  But yeah, whatabout Pierre! 😂😂😂

No, what about decades and decades of anyone being able to do anything to make lobbying more transparent and accountable?  You don't think there should or could be a law that does that? Correct me if I'm wrong but weren't you more concerned about lobbying than Carney when you posted about communicating with lobbyists above?

What about him? I thought he was spot on when on March 8 2024 he said lobbyists were useless, CEOs should fire them and pitch their asks directly to Canadians themselves, didn't you?

What sort of pause to consider did you give afterwards however when it was reported he or his staff communicated with oil and gas industry lobbyists 46 times in the year ending June 2024?

Just days after his March 2024 speech, his staff participated in a "Hill Day" arranged by a lobby group—an event type Poilievre had specifically criticized.

What do you say to these in light of Poilievre's scathing criticism of lobbying and lobbyists?

I mean sure I get it the Liberals were probably being treated to hookers and coke by lobbyists all the while but... seriously?

You lickspittles can't see or accept there are times when whattaboutisms are entirely appropriate?

It really isn't. Democracies kind of a tried and true concept. It only falls apart when the electors fail to do their job.

Which is why you're out there trying desperately to convince everyone they should fail to do their job :)

Oh we will, but it would sure be nice if people like you stopped voting in favor of corruption and the destruction of our society. :)

In any case as long as you're voting for it as you do you certainly can't complain about it

If you people would stop screwing the pooch it wouldn't matter who anyone voted for. I mean okay, notwithstanding the possibility some political party won after campaigning that politicians and governments should have the right to break the law when it suits them.

Oh how shocking, you're calling for the end of democracy again. We should all just vote for your guys blah blah blah🙄🙄🙄

If you keep supporting corruption then all you're going to get is corruption. I'm the liberals are corrupt, the more you vote for them the more corrupt they become

You're an embarrassment to your children that you allegedly have. Start caring about your country for a change, the voters are serious things get better

Foreign aid looks like an area with lots of waste. Many programs that have closed don't have any information as to the actual results from the project. So Canadians have no way of knowing if the money is well spent.

No surprise, our government gives a lot of money to dictatorships, countries capable of building nuclear weapons and space programs.

Certainly the foreign aid budget is something to think about when Canada has pretty serious domestic problems which are not being addressed.

Beware the Brookfield industrial complex...

Describing something isn't the same as calling for it. Stop being such a dunce.

Sure kid, that's just a sense of Dunning–Kruger's effect that you're experiencing. You're not educated enough to know how much you still need to learn.
