Has anyone here ever heard PM Carney speak french at all? According to the rules of the political game, all PM's of Canada must be bilingual. I have never heard carney speak any french at all. Has anyone here heard Carney speak french? Just wondering. 🤔

Yes, he's bilingual. His french isn't great but he does speak it and he's been working on it.  So he falls into the "good enough" category

When Carney first ran for federal Liberal, his French was weird, shakey.

I am impressed with his recent French. His accent is now intelligent Canadian English-speaker; he has the vocabulary.

I conclude that Carney is a very ambitious guy.

What rock are you living under?  He speaks French in literally every public appearance since his public debut earlier this year including a French language debate and responding to reporters’ French questions in French. Seriously, what a question.

That said it’s long been known and admitted by him that his French is not great and people including him generally rate it a 6/10. He’s able to understand and be understood, with some small grammatical errors and heavy anglo accent. But Harper’s French was similarly not great at first and it improved over time. Ive already noticed Carney’s French has improved somewhat.

There's little doubt he'll have an expert working with him to polish that. It was noted in a recent article that he speaks way more english than french at his pressers and he got a little heat for it but honestly i don't think anyone cares that much and it's obviously 'good enough' and getting better.

I only asked the question because i have not heard him speak french yet. I know that he does not speak french when he visits Trump like that other french azz hole before him who kept trying to push his slang french wherever he has gone in any of his speeches. French should only be spoken in separatist Quebec where it belongs because the fench despise English and are trying to get rid of English. The Bloc french separatists should not be allowed to speak in french in parliament. If they do not English in Quebec, than there should be no french spoken it parliament. Tit for tat.

The rock that you think that i am living in has a roof, a floor and four walls surrounding my home. It is lieberals like you that are working very hard to try and get all Canadians to lose their homes and who will then be forced to have to live under a rock. It's the Marxist french elite from Quebec that did not want Canadians to own property. If i am not mistaken, it was old man Turdeau the commie that left out private property rights in Canada for Canadians.

Only one official language for Canada. ENGLISH. Works well for me. LOL.

Taxme, have you ever been around competitive guys?

There's a difference between competition and ambition.

true.  Ambitious people say "i want to win". Competitive people say "And i want you to lose,"

Trump is both.  Carney is neither comptetative NOR ambitious.  He's an opportunist.  An opportunist says "what can i steal for myself today without too much work, and then ''ll be gone tomorrow"

It is very evident you have never heard him speak at any time. He always speaks french in every public address.

Yeah well, Canada has 2 official languages...English and French. Officially bilingual.

You are entitled to your opinion, but you are not entitled to tell me what mine should be.

Disagree, sorta.

Competitive people always want to be first - they are zero-sum thinkers. Ambitious people eye the situation. They are positive-sum thinkers.

Opportunist? Neither Carney nor Trump is an opportunist.

An opportunist is a negative-sum thinker. They break your $100 window to steal your $20 toaster.

That is what i said. They don't care about the target as long as they're first.

That is also pretty much what i said. They generally have a goal or a target and are focused on reaching that rather than just beating someone else.

You suck at disagreeing.

Carney is absolutely an opportunist.  100 percent.  Trump not quite so much ( more of a narcissist) but he has that element too.

an opportunist is neither negative nor positive. They don't care if they break your window or not, they just want the easy 20.  If they can get it by opening the window they probably will.

But the big difference is they didn't think about that 20 until they saw it in front of them. The Opportunist saw opportunity and took it.  Whereas the othet two had something they were actively working towards.

Carney wasn't thinking about being prime minister 10 years go, or even 5 years ago. He never ran for office, he never announced intent, Some liberals talked about recruiting him but it never went anywhere, and then he saw the perfect opportunity to try. So him and freeland set up a fake 'leadership race'. If that opportunity hadn't been there he never would have bothered.

Trump had a goal. He was bound and determined to run again and win at any cost. Spent 4 years working towards that.  not an opportunist.

Wow? You keep saying stupid things yourself here all the time. No Canadian was ever asked if Canada should become a bilingual country. Bilingualism was forced on English Canada by that old man french Marxist Turdeau. The Turd also gave us multiculturalism and metric and massive 3rd world invasion which no Canadian ever asked for. Those alone have destroyed this once great English speaking country and turned into a multicultural non-white hell hole. I think that the best part of you dripped down your old mans leg. Just saying. 🤪

They certainly did. Canada has called for immigrants many many times. Where the hell did you grow up?

And as for me personally and my descendants we were born here. I'm every bit as native as anyone else

Another dumb ass reply coming from a dumb ass lieberal. No one asked your family to come here either. Fyi, I am not an immigrant. i was born in Canada. Why don't you get down on your knees and knell down in front of some door knob and wait for someone to come along and open the door. Then maybe that doorknob will hit you in that broken brain head of yours which then might just knock some common sense in you head, stunned.

Carney speaks a bit of French. He’s better at it than I am so I shouldn’t be too critical. 5/10 perhaps? Maybe 6. This would be on a fluency scale where Jean Charest in English is a 10. Has any anglophone politician ever reached Charest’s level in English when they are speaking French? Don’t ask me.
