"Dear Republicans, I’ve been wondering... if there was literally anything that your party could do" that is too far over the line?

“Dear Republicans,
I’ve been wondering the last several days if there was literally anything that your party could do before you finally stopped and said to yourself, ‘this is just too far for me, I am leaving the party.'?
Steve Schmidt, Nicole Wallace, George Will, David Frum and a who’s who of former star Republicans got to that point. So what does it take before you abandon all the lies and the cognitive dissonance but more importantly, the insanity that has spread like the Delta strain within your party?
You probably did not hear about this since Fox does not have any interest in reporting facts but Jesse Benton got indicted two years ago, again.
Don’t remember him? Let me help.
Jesse Benton was pardoned by Trump after he was convicted in another scheme to bribe a notable official in Iowa to get his endorsement for Ron Paul. You probably don’t remember that either.
So Trump pardoned him for that because cheating in elections has become common practice for you all these days and you obviously no longer care about the rule of law since you were all so conspicuously silent about Trump pardoning so many of his cronies.
Yet you were so very loud when Clinton pardoned Marc Rich. So you are only outraged when Democrats do something you don’t like but when your guy does it, that’s okay. How does that hypocrisy feel coursing through your veins?
Do you remember the nauseating nattering you all were doing when you were saying, ‘the Russia hoax’? The thing about that was that you all said that there was ‘no collusion.’ Well I guess we have come to the point where you all no longer care about the definition of words anymore huh?
There was oodles of collusion with Russians.
Jesse Benton was a campaign advisor first for Ron Paul, then he went to help Rand Paul and then he ran Mitch McConnell’s campaign so he’s kind of a big deal Republican operative.
What Jesse got indicted for was for laundering money for a Russian oligarch into the Trump campaign. It’s almost as if the Russians wanted to get Trump elected. Wonder why that was?
Oh that’s right, Trump said Russia is our friend now and that he has a personal relationship with Putin even before the campaign. I guess that is why he wanted to meet with him privately without even State Department officials present which had never happened before because he was making a deal and stuff.
Then he said nobody was tougher on Russian than him. I dunno, seems like Hillary was awful tough on Putin but somehow Putin wanted to get someone even harder on him because that makes sense doesn’t it?
So why did Trump say that Putin didn’t pay bounties for American soldiers to the Taliban when every single intelligence agency had the verifiable proof that Putin had paid those bounties? Was he trying to protect Putin for helping him win his election?
We’re wondering what the hell happened to you all because you used to be Ronald-Reagan-tough on Russia but not anymore. Why the ginormous flip-flop with you guys?
Is it the enemy of your enemy is your friend? With Democrats being your enemy and the enemy of Russia? You don’t have to answer, the rest of the country knows that the hypocrisy that courses through your veins is equaled only by the dishonesty and treason.
Another thing that you all missed was the revelation that inside the White House, officials confirmed that Smartmatic was not owned by or have anything to do with Venezuela or machines that tallied ballots in foreign countries. That was just something Sydney Powell and Rudy Giuliani thought you all were dumb enough to believe and guess what? You did.
Did you ever stop and think about why Mark Twain said, ‘it’s easier to fool a fool than convince them they were fooled’?
That’s rather important because it appears now that the only elections that you think are legitimate are the ones you win.
I know that’s pissing into a hurricane but now that you all have become ‘fiscal hawks’ again after adding more to the national debt in history, we are now on the precipice of you all doing something completely asinine by playing debt-ceiling roulette where you all try to inflict even more damage on the country simply to ‘own the libs.’
My friends think I am completely insane to think maybe some of you might read this and come to the realization that you all have become a cancer on our Republic and maybe they’re right.
So I ask again, what would your party have to do for you to abandon it like so many other notable Republicans have?
Because at this point, you are behaving like a death cult bent on destroying our democracy because you cannot adjust your ideology.
Right now your elected leaders are trying to suicide our Republic by playing a dangerous game of brinksmanship with the full faith and credit of the United States which will have consequences that your grandchildren will be dealing with.
I think I can speak for all of us in saying that we sure wish you all would start acting like responsible citizens instead of petulant children.”

Putting up a fake leader who's actually got demenia and pretending he's actually in charge while having a shadow group run the gov't unelected, and then swapping them out for a complete ditz with no credentials who was not elected to lead the party and can only giggle and call everyone nazis should do the trick.

So the question then becomes what the hell would the Democrats have to do to get you to stop voting for THEM?

oh look, the leftie democrat wants to censor people ;)   How shocking.  I'm shocked. Were you shocked? I was shocked :)

The point, unless you missed it robodunce, Is that your question is moot until the democrats have an option that doesn't look worse.

In other words if America has two choices and one is a minus 10 but the other is a minus 15, no matter how bad minus 10 is that's what they're going to go for.

So if you're not prepared to put something better forward, you'll have to live with those who went for the best option they have

Now, I get that we cross your lines every f*cking minute of every f*ckng day. Being white crosses a line, so you fascists are hardly barometer administrators, you know what I mean? ;)

You really have no valid reason for making such a stupid thread.

I'm not sure that a band aid is the hygene product he needs for his bleeding in this case.

They start with a presupposition that is a blatant lie and then try to shame us into believing it.

And don't we see that all the time. They can't argue with what we say because it's true, so they create something we didn't say and then demand that we argue with that. It's like lefty 101.

The line is wherever Trump says it is. If you told these people in 2024 that Trump was going to do these things if elected they would have screamed they you’re a liar and that their great dear leader would never do such a thing.

What Trump supporters are doing isn’t so different. Trump is clearly unstable corrupt and incompetent and so are nearly all of the unqualified hacks he’s appointed to office. Yet Trump supporters not only claim they’re up to the job but “the greatest ever” even as all signs of reality point to the truth.

And while Biden was clearly no longer sharp and quick-witted Republicans exaggerate his supposed “dementia”. He could no longer verbally spar with people and increasingly stumbled over his words when speaking off-the-cuff in those “quick think” situations. But he could still think clearly and deliver speeches clearly.

OMG, the irony, as you are here crying about how the right acts while you completely downplay what happened with Biden as if he was just not sharp or quick-witted anymore.

If there was an award for someone on this forum who exemplified complete 100% partisan hackery, it would be you that won.

No, that's your bias opinion. Biden was demonstrably mentally incompetent, and it came out he had been for at least three years. And someone else was largely in control during that time and we don't know who.  Why was his wife with him in so many meetings? She was never elected to anything that i  know about.

No, he has classic dementia and it's painfully obvious.  Let me be blunt - there is no exaggerating that and even trying to say he doesn't REALLY have it invalidates everything you say and makes you nothing more than a cult worshipper.  He's got dementia and it's pretty strong and we now know the white house knew it and was actively covering it up for at least 3 years. He also had parkinsons.

There's no shame in the elderly getting dementia, but there is in pretending he didn't to prop him up as a puppet for political gain.

No,  He could not.  At least not most of the time. He may have lucid moments but this is NOT debatable, mentally he was completely incompetent for the job. Period. And they knew that.

When they called the debate so early my first post here was "they're trying him out to see if he's still fit enough to get through an election campaign and they'll replace him if they don't like what they see".  They knew there was no hiding it. They knew it was over for him long ago.

The democrats deliberately propped up a person with failing mental health to pretend to be president while others called the shots for at least 3 years instead of doing the right thing. That's the way that went.

THe dems need to own that, apologize for it, and give people reason to believe that it can't happen again and that the people responsible are gone and start to rebuild that trust. Because that trust is broken.

Trump may be an !diot, and he may be a complete narcissistic sociopath. But he isn't mentally incompetent yet and fact is his economy is doing surprisingly well. If the next quarter finishes the way this quarter did then people are going to start having to admit that his policies are working.

So no it's not the same thing and the sooner democrats admit that and come right out and address it the sooner the healing can begin. But as far as voters are concerned right now democrats are like a husband who got caught on top of a naked woman banging the crap out of her and is still trying to tell the wife she didn't see what she saw and it never happened. And the wife just isn't stupid enough to fall for that

Not to mention that he openly floated the idea of just blatantly stacking the SC by adding 4 new SCJ's.

That's basically saying: "Should we just put the final nail in the coffin of democracy?"

Nope.  I just don’t pay a lot of attention to what he says, and I don’t care if he’s an a-hole.  Same with Pierre, I don’t need a nice feel good personality.  I need someone to implement good policy.  Policy trumps personality.  Anyone that puts personality before policy is a child.  In Canada we have very childish voters, that continue to put in nice feel good politicians in office that make their lives worse.  I applaud American voters for holding their nose and voting for Trump because of policy issues, not personality.  It’s grown up voting.

This fundamentally true. I don't need to like my plumber, I need my pipes to stop leaking. I don't need to like my electrician, I need my lights to turn on. Etc etc

Results are always more important than personalities. What is your policy, are you able to enact your policy? Carney had fine policies but she stole from Poilievre, but he doesn't have the skill to actually implement any of them
