September 18, 2025: Why Jimmy Kimmel’s show was yanked off the air | CNN Business Looks pretty canceled to me. They're saying they're going to put something else in that slot as well so it doesn't sound like a temporary suspension I was clear in another post that I'm a little uncomfortable with this. I feel his comments were horrible taste but I don't feel they crossed the line into actually suggesting that the killing was okay, unlike we've seen with most of the others who even if they say the killing was wrong then go on to explain why it's great that he's dead. I do feel it cross the line of good taste and if the parent company wants to fire him over that I guess that's their right. I'd be more against it if he had said it on his own time and he was getting fired for it but he did say it on their dime and they have to wear the backlash so maybe this wasn't the right moment to try and paint everyone who disagreed with this killing as some sort of terrible monster. But any either case he appears to have been fired. 35 minutes ago, Chrissy1979 said: The second amendment, which defines free speech, is specifically about government censorship—-not private companies responding to public demands. SpankyMcFarland Posted September 20, 2025 Report Posted September 20, 2025 (edited) So any posters here ready to defend American nincompoop Pete Hoekstra, also an ambassador apparently, who blames Canada - yes, you’re reading that right - for the tension between our countries these days? Quote The U.S. ambassador to Canada is expressing frustration over the anti-American sentiment he sees in this country, including from politicians, after U.S. President Donald Trump hit most of the world with tariffs. Asked what surprised him about Canada since starting his new role in April, Pete Hoekstra said Thursday that what's most "unexpected" is the country's feelings about the U.S. "I'm disappointed that I came to Canada — a Canada that it is very, very difficult to find Canadians who are passionate about the American-Canadian relationship," Hoekstra said at an event hosted by the Halifax Chamber of Commerce. "You ran a campaign where it was anti-American, elbows up, me too. You know, that was an anti-American campaign. That has continued. That's disappointing." https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/us-ambassador-to-canada-disappointed-anti-american-campaign-1.7637534 Edited September 20, 2025 by SpankyMcFarland Quote ‘How small we make our worlds. I didn’t take him for a libertarian or someone bothered by principles too much. He was willing to join the dots and call out the reality of an implicit threat made by a powerful person which is exactly what organized crime does; if you know who I am I don’t have to spell it out and incriminate myself, do I? We know what we’re talking about here. Of course, he’ll take a lot of heat for this from the Trump mob. The campaign line that Trump is not a politician has some truth in it. Yes, he’s a brilliant salesman who can flog his line to people but he didn’t learn to respect the rules of the democratic game over decades, in particular what you can’t do when in office. What Cruz doesn't seem to appreciate is that Trump and those who do his thinking for him have no intention of letting their authoritarian moves be bad for conservatives because they don’t intend to ever give Democrats the opportunity run the country again.
