Trump is an expert at trying to change the narrative

All I'm seeing on Social Media, in regards to US politics, is Trump deciding to federalize DC policing and banning the homeless. This comes at a convenient time where the July inflation figure are set to come out tomorrow. 

I'm of the opinion, that if anything can sink Trump, it's not Epstein or his Authoritarian instincts. It's ruining the economy. 

Should inflation continue to move up ahead of most of the true damage of his tariff yet to come, That's what will turn the nation and MAGA specifically against him. 

Inflation was what caused Biden to be so unpopular. And adding import taxes to basically everything the US uses is going to be extraordinarily inflationary. 

So let's make DC a militarized dystopia, so maybe people will talk about that instead.

DC has the fourth highest murder rate in the country. It is the only city Trump can federalize. What he is doing is not a distraction, it is a much needed policy that will demonstrate just how feckless liberal policies are, on crime.

No doubt he was behind the violent attacks in DC over the last few months.  Probably false flags to set up this action.

Biden just made things worse, and Harris would've been a f*cking disaster.

There's lots of crime elsewhere but the president can't nationalize the police force.  DC isn't a state.  Regardless, nationalizing the police in DC has nothing to do with the military.  You sound like a crazy person.

As well as the risk if isolating the US from its allies. You see what's happening with US tourism across the board. No one really want to visit the US. Trump tries to get people to buy US goods abroad but his rhetoric is leading to boycotts.

I do think he's very good at politics, but maybe because he buys into the same myths that followers do. 

And there's a limit. The experts were talking about how great the economy was under Biden, but somehow the voters felt differently. 

I agree that it's the economy stupid... As James Carville used to say.  And since presumably most of us here are in the top half, we may not be aware of how Trump is playing out.

Good point.  It's difficult to reconcile Trump as some kind of evil genius, but at the same time, being very dumb, which Boges seems to be suggesting.  But we'll have wait and see about the tariffs.  I think some targeted tariffs aren't inherently bad, depending on circumstances, but I agree that his broad approach is not great policy.

It was a perfect storm of increased demand because tourism and entertainment were banned led people to spend their money on actual stuff and improvement to their homes and a lack of supply from countries that reduced output because of COVID restrictions.

Sure, but that's not what caused the inflation. Supply chain disruption caused by stuff not being able to get to where it was in demand caused inflation. 

BTW Trump was as much of a RINO on this as any world leader.
