Carney inherited a fiscal mess from Trudeau, and he is set to make it worse - The Globe and Mail

long story short, our books were in a mess and our country in trouble when carney took over, and he is on path to do even more damage than Trudeau did by overspending.

This is from the globe and mail, a source that is traditionally very friendly to the liberals and tends to look badly on conservatives. They're not afraid to take the odd poke at the liberals but  for them to just come out and say this is unusual.

I've noticed that the media is beginning to turn a little bit on Carney. That generally means that public opinion is beginning to twist and they are picking up on it. That can take a short while to show up in the actual polling, but I think in September when we start paying attention to politics again mr Carney may not like his report card. He will have to do some fancy dancing in the fall session or he's going to start to slip

If Poilievre was PM & he was implementing similar things Carney is, holding the same meetings, managing the same crisis the same way ..... what would his supporters be saying? I am sick of the comments that are clearly and purely intended to denigrate the man  under the guise of critiquing his performance. It's petty, stupid and shallow. Their inability to see past the "party" label & really consider the FACTS is disappointing & frustrating to say the least.

No he wouldn't. He would be managing the crisis in the way that carney claimed he was going to but then didn't.

Carney claimed he could handle trump. Carmi promised that he could get us back to a zero trump tariff state like we were before. You losers all suggested that for sure he had the experience!

Intelligent people such as myself pointed out that being a banker has nothing to do with being a diplomat or politician and he has no experience.

Now he's failing hard. And you're scrambling desperately for some sort of excuse to make that okay. Dude he lied to you for minute one and you laughed it up like a kitten drinking its milk, and now you're shocked and amazed that it turns out he lied about his skills.

And if poilievre had become Prime Minister and done the same things as carney after promising not to then we would be extremely critical of him. Conservatives have always been critical of their leaders when they fail, in fact the PC party was basically destroyed as a result of that and several provincial conservative parties have been wiped out for the same reasons.

It's only you liberals who have no values and no morals. Even the NDP had this common sense to wipe out their corrupt party when it became obvious it was nothing more then jag needs pension plan and libera yesboys

So funny that they talk about "Trudeau's fiscal mess" now but none of them could see it coming. Back in the day, everything that Trudeau said and did was dreamy, and it was what was best for all of Canada. They never saw any harm in anything that he ever did.

Honestly, when our MSM talks about a "fiscal mess", it's a fiscal mess that they all waved pom-poms for at every stage of the last 11 years or so.

Who are they to talk about whether or not Carney's economic plan is solid?

If Carney wants to stay PM for more than 6 months, he needs to stop talking about US trade deals and switch the topic to global warming every time the CBC puts a camera in his face. He'll rise to 60% popularity here. Libbies will walk across their starving children to vote hi back in.

We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have now done so much for so long with so little, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.

I don't know about that. Even before carney and trump people have moved away from global warming and it still pulls very lowly on their top lists. The top lists other than trump are still the economy and affordability. And unfortunately it's almost impossible to talk about those without trump sticking his head into the picture

I suspect if he doesn't have much of a deal by september when the house goes back he will definitely try to find something else to talk about. Before then because of that very reason. The absolute last thing he wants is to go into the fall and back to the house where every day he has to answer questions about our trade deal. He wants to do one now and then in the fall if someone asks he turns around and says we're past that yesterday's news we're not talking about that anymore.

Unfortunately for him trump also refused to negotiate NAFTA early, Or whatever they're calling it now. Which means even if he manages to get trump off the table this fall, trump is back on the table next year and the whole mess will be back in his face again

Whatever.

We in Canada are in good shape: Chretien/Martin fixed our budget. Harper maintained it.

Trudeau Jnr? True, he spent alot - alot - but we Canadians are still in good shape.

Oh I know the answer to this one.

We got:

People who sh1t in public.

Full hotels and motels...at the citizens' expense.

Killers and gang-bangers released back to the public.

Vancouver.

Little Potato.

Just how is Little Potato a local issue?

The only one on my list remotely local is Vancouver. It's a cesspool of gross proportions.

If Poilevre was set to announce a deficit approaching $100 billion, his supporters would be appalled.

And so far, meetings and mouthing are all he's done. I've seen no real action on anything at all.

Little Potato? I'm a federalist.

Trudeau Snr tried to create a federal Urban Affairs ministry. I note that Trump is eliminating the federal Education department.

Montreal, Vancouver are municipal issues.

Richer native chiefs. Richer African leaders counting their 'gender equality' money from Canada. Richer Liberal insiders with their cozy contracts. Happy Chinese government ministers who pulled strings to make Trudeau dance for them. Endless foreign demonstrations and protests on behalf of some shithole speck of dirt in the desert none of them have ever been to and never will. Lots of crime in the streets. A dysfunctional immigration system. A dysfunctional refugee system that is basically an open door to anyone who wants in. Greater division. Growing ethnic ghettos. A massive debt.

So, having a meltdown on me is misplaced....which is something you are getting quite good at :)

You also forget prior to Trudeau, we had Harper breaking down Canada for 10 years LOL

It doesn't really matter what they're asking Carney in Question Period if the MSM ignores it, which they will, just like they did with SNC Lavalin, the WE Scandal, etc.

They'll let Carney say "I signed the best deal I could for Canada", and Trump will say "He's a very tough negotiator, he fought really hard for Canada" because he says that about everyone he's negotiating with (incl. Putin, KJU and the Taliban) and the CBC will put the focus on fluff pieces and some other BS.

Why do you insist on lying?

Every single economist in the world is saying we're in trouble. Our own government is saying we're in trouble. We are in major trouble.

I mean they have math in Quebec right? Because if you do some you can see very quickly we're in trouble

The problem is if it's not a good deal for Canada our economy will take a major hit. And while the libs can lie to their hearts content but when people start to suffer they stop listening. We saw that with Trudeau

And right now things are already terrible for people. And a bad trump deal Will make things worse especially in Ontario. Quebec will take a hit too. And it's going to be very hard to stimulate the economy while we are still under the threat of inflation due to massive government spending. As of this moment canada is still bleeding investment badly and investment dollars are fleeing the country, and the liberals don't even have the ability to massively import numbers of people to cover things up as they have in the past because it would drive inflation.

Hey, it would be worth having to live with him for a few extra years to get a good deal for Canada and actually see progress to correct the problems of the past. But the problem is I do not believe for a moment that's going to happen based on his performance already.
