“There's no water to take a bath, it's been four days since I've taken a bath,” Izquierdo said.

Izquierdo, who was arrested on battery and assault with a deadly weapon, said detainees are fed once a day with food that has “maggots” in it and are not provided toothpaste.

“They only brought a meal once a day and it has maggots, he added. “They never take of the lights for 24 hours. The mosquitoes are as big as elephants.”

Another detainee, an unnamed Colombian man, said his mental health was deteriorating without access to his medication and Bible.

“I'm on the edge of losing my mind. I've gone three days without taking my medicine," he told CBS. "It's impossible to sleep with this white light that's on all day."

"They took the Bible I had and they said here there is no right to religion. And my Bible is the one thing that keeps my faith, and now I'm losing my faith," he added."

"I don't know their motive for doing this, if it's a form of torture. A lot of us have our residency documents and we don't understand why we're here,” he added.

Izquierdo is among those with permanent residency in the United States, his girlfriend told NBC Miami. But after he was arrested, Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained him to determine whether or not he should be deported.

The charges he faces stem from a violent dispute with a tow company worker, wh was trying to repossess a jet ski, according to a police report seen by the outlet.

Human rights activists, such as the ACLU, have denounced Alligator Alcatraz and raised concerns about the inhuman conditions detainees could potentially face.

“This project dehumanizes people, strips them of their rights, and diverts public dollars from the services our communities need,” Bacardi Jackson, the executive director of the ACLU of Florida, said."

But Deluge will tell you they have AC in the tents while they're kept in their cages.
It may take a bit to recruit some inmates to play in a C&W band outside the showers.

No, Deluge will tell you that they still have a choice to self-deport. I wonder why they don't pounce on that option?

Comrade blackbird struggles with the concept of law and order - it's so restrictive and unbelievably fascist, right pervert?

Wow, people being detained are crying... *yawn* never heard that before.

Fire and paramedics are on site, according to officials. The facility, which has portable restrooms and showers, has power with backup generators in place.

We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have now done so much for so long with so little, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.

They have no idea.

The whole argument is just dishonest anyhow. It doesn't matter if we kept all illegal immigrants waiting for deportation at Disney Land at the 5 star resorts where they could go ride the rides all day long... they just don't support enforcing immigration law and deporting anyone.

Seriously, of course these people are going to complain say that it's inhumane. Their whole angle right now is to try and get public sympathy. That illegal standing so it's the last shot they've got. I understand that but I also have no sympathy for them. If you're in the country legally this can happen to you. You need to leave the country and try and work out any immigration issues from your country of origin

Did someone FORCE you to sign up for that duty? Or did you just imagine it was the best opportunity that YOU HAD?

Personally I never bought the idea that we needed to invade Afghanistan to make OBL pay for 9/11.

If we should have invaded any country, it was Saudi Arabia, since that was where the perpetrators and their funding was from.

I think it was very unfortunate that you were conned into invading the wrong country.

Most illegal aliens don't have to go to detention facilities, robowoke. They can self-deport. ;)

Not forced, i signed the dotted line to serve my nation many years before we went to Afghanistan, as did my father and his father before him....my government decided to send troops to afghanistan to hunt down and kill terrorist, I did not have a choice where i served....I grew up in a trailer park on the other side of the tracks in NB, i had just completed high school, and my parents could not afford college or university, So ya i had lots of choices .I choose the military, and i'm not ashamed of that fact, it gave me everything i have today...

Personally we all have opinions, none of them count for much, 24 Canadians died on 9/11, and almost 3000 Americans, Canada Stood up and answered the US call to arms, it might not have been a huge contribution but we went. nobody asked us if it was worth it, Nobody cared, our brothers and sister south of the border called we answered, that's all that mattered...

I think it was very unfortunate that you did not stand with your fellow Americans. You must have had your reasons or maybe you think soldiering is beneath you...

What I think is that the USA treats its soldiers like shit. You're lucky YOU didn't get cancer from the burn pits.

I know of servicemen who died from Agent Orange poisoning and a former co-worker who served in Nam died from colon cancer. 🤮

But thanks for your service, however ill advised it might have been.

What you think is clearly based on ignorance.

The US treats it's soldiers far better than Canadians do...I can tell you that...And i am lucky i did 3 tours there and lived through all of them, it cost me my hearing, my knees, and PTSD, when so many of my comrades' in arms came home in an flag draped aluminum casket, or would later commit suicide...So yes i was lucky.

I think we all know someone that has served that has paid a much greater price than i did....

Joining the service was the best thing i could have done, i meet so many of the bravest people on the planet, including US service members...Those were the people i served for, that i dedicated my life to , the men and women on the left and the right of me........i would go to war with any of them any day....

No need to thank me for my service, i didn't do it for , Canada or Canadians, i did it for the men and women in uniform and those that had served in the past.

I guess you would say the same thing about any prison anywhere.  Easy when you're not there.

Yes, duh. Prison, everywhere, is not supposed to be enjoyable or comfortable.
