It destroys everything it touches. Party first. Ideology second. When someone comes along and says country first and means it.... well that's kind of special. And as voters we should demand it. Quote

When someone comes along and says country first and means it.... well that's kind of special. And as voters we should demand it. The problem IS the voters. Unfortunately politics often becomes something akin to sports, where people have "their teams" and they put that ahead of canada. Or to be more accurate, they think "i like my team the best. I like Canada. Therfore the team i like the best is the best team for canada". And they become blind to the problems with that team. The liberals are the worst. Conservatives have both provincially and federally completely wiped out their party when they've seen it become corrupt. The federal PC for example are no more. The ndp have wiped out provincial go'ts for corruption and incompetence, and they just pretty much destroyed the ndp federally after Jagger's corrupt performance holding out for his pension and propping up the liberals. But liberal voters will accept and even Reward virtually any amount of corruption from their party. And that's a problem because it becomes a race to the bottom as others give up civility knowing that there's no benefit to it Quote There are two types of people in this world: Those who can extrapolate from incomplete data
Chrissy1979 Posted May 6 Report Posted May 6 No, the worst are people who cheer on Trump and celebrate his raping of women because he’s on their team (and he’s not s Black woman). Quote

SpankyMcFarland Posted May 6 Report Posted May 6 Trump was grotesque today, unable to resist talking about the 51st state ‘idea’ again. At least his tone was closer to the minimum expected between allies. The sooner talks can start with rational American officials the better. Quote

She wrote a book that was released about a week before the election, describing her meteoric rise to being "First Lady of Canada". That should help. August1991 Posted May 7 Author Report Posted May 7 Trump dominates the meeting: https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/livestory/recap-everything-that-happened-during-carney-s-visit-to-washington-to-meet-trump-9.6749638 From the start, Carney should have corrected. ===== Carney laughs, sad. Quote
August1991 Posted May 7 Author Report Posted May 7 Total f-up. ===== Trump made it plain: let's get along. Any normal Canadian would have said, let's agree. Carney? He said nothing. Quote
August1991 Posted May 7 Author Report Posted May 7 Ego. Imagine a guy like Trudeau Snr or Mulroney in the room. Stand up. Agree, disagree! Quote
August1991 Posted May 7 Author Report Posted May 7 Around the 29 min mark in the CBC video, you will see our current PM. And I frankly that you will see his true self - he is a bureaucrat. Ambitious. ==== Carney agrees with those above, a bully to those below. Quote
CdnFox Posted May 7 Report Posted May 7 It wasn't great but what do you expect. Honestly I don't think he should have gone down there in the first place. Trudeau ran as soon as trump called and trump really mocked him for it, Carney ran down there as soon as he was elected And trump will look at it more or less the same way. In the meantime he didn't get a single thing, and obviously trump just dismissed him and forgot he was there at one point and just started rambling on about everything else. Carney looked uncomfortable and while the left is trying to spin it as much as possible I have a tough time calling this a successful trip. He should have waited till trump was up here at the G7 and then met with him. That way it looked more like trump was coming to him and not that he was running like a panting puppy after him. Or he could have done the gracious thing and go personally make Trump feel welcome and to share his views with the whole G7 gang. No doubt they'll be on the edge of their seats too... likely fit to be tied. Quote A government without public oversight is like a nuclear plant without lead shielding.

No, trump already knows these people. Carney would be the newcomer. But I'm sure there would have been plenty of opportunities for the two of them to have a quick sit-down chat or at least get to know each other along with the other leaders Quote No doubt they'll be on the edge of their seats too... likely fit to be tied. Perhaps but why do we really give a crap about them? Carney was not hired to make them feel comfortable. Carney was hired to move forward Canada's interests. His first step out of the gate was a misstep so we have to hope he figures that out and learns to do better quickly Quote There are two types of people in this world: Those who can extrapolate from incomplete data
