The nonsense about millenials and boomers is just that.

You're right, Millennials and Boomers don't really exist. Everybody was born at the same time, right?

Quote

All of them are loyal Canadians and millenials are the ones not codgery enough to pretend they're dying of oppression. Samrt enough to know the govt isn't going to build them a single family house on a cul de sac like PP's pretentious promises.

If you're going to talk about how smart you are, maybe don't spell it "samrt".

In reality, it was mostly the Millennials and teens still living at home who couldn't work a summer job because of c0v1d that bilked the CERB program to the tune of $3 billion in wrongful payments, so......

Liberals didn't give a rat's patootie if claims were legit and mostly refused to recoup from people who cheated the system, so now everybody pays.

HOLY 💩!!

While Parliament is dissolved, Carney - the unelected 10-day old caretaker PM - just unilaterally declared that Canada's 157-year long relationship with the US is.......OVER.

Did you know the US declared that they want to make Canada the 51st state?

That seems to be a reasonable assessment.

Congress has to OK invading Canada.  That's not going to happen.

Then the US military also has to follow an order to invade Canada.  Also not going to happen.

The Us citizens would not allow an invasion of Canada.

As I've said before, I take Trump seriously, but not literally.

What he actually said is;

“The old relationship we had with the United States, based on deepening integration of our economies and tight security and military cooperation, is over,”

So, now we'll start a new relationship based on less integration and cooperation.

It's apparently what Americans voted for.

They're free to do so.

In the meantime I'm glad to see Europe is happy we're planning on integrating and cooperating with them instead.

He has no mandate to unilaterally make this decision.

He's not in a boardroom talking about a corporate takeover, where it's only dollars & cents at stake.  What politicians say affects the stock market.

Has he not seen the state of our military?  We barely have one.

And why should he care?  He moved all his money out right before this.

Just so we're clear - Carney has not even talked to Trump yet.  And he just declared it OVER.  At a time when the Americans have been very concerned about Canada's ties to China, He just told Trump that Canada is not an ally anymore.

This guy is a lunatic.

How a caretaker government functions in the middle of a trade war | CBC News

In the Westminster parliamentary system used in Canada, the legitimacy of an elected government hinges on its ability to command the confidence of the House of Commons. During an election period, the House is shut and so the prime minister cannot seek approval from the elected chamber.

Because of that, the prime minister and cabinet are directed by the convention to act with restraint, which means they shouldn't introduce big, new things or make changes that would be onerous for the next government to roll back.

There are also some guidelines for how government advertising and communicating takes place. The central principle is that all communication should be non-partisan, and be limited to messages about public health, safety or urgent business.

Carney is not elected and with one statement he's trying to change the entire course of the North American geopolitical relationship that's been in place for over 80 years.

This is exactly what Polievre has been warning about him.

He wasn't laying out a policy he was merely reiterating the way things are and echoing the majority point of view of premiers he'd just met with. Trump has been burning bridges and upending relationships for several weeks now, where the hell have you been?

Even Poilievre says America will have lost a friend and ally after he's been elected.

So, rather than speak to Trump and work on new trade agreements, it's better to cut off the Americans and no longer be an ally?

Burn all the bridges?

That's the solution?

Gawd, Liberals are always so EXTREME.

I'm surprisednotsurprised that so many Lib supporters don't recognize the same "instill fear and conquer" diversionary tactics that were used during c0v1d.

Trump & the tariffs, while important, pales in comparison to Canada's stagnation for the last 10 years. And the Lib progressive policies that have created social chaos in the form of a divided society, lax judiciary, widespread drug use and homelessness, rampant mass immigration, healthcare crises......

Carney keeps hammering Trump!, Trump!, Trump! with very little about the problems that will still be around long after the tariffs are dealt with.

I hear vague promises about "building back our economy".  With what??  Libs have stymied any growth for 10 years.  We are missing pipelines and entire industries.

Doug Ford say ‘Maximize the pain for Americans’.

If we jacked oil cost up to 25% Trump would cave as soon as gas went up at the pump.

Trump is the one burning bridges here, fùck him.

They're also always liars. If he wins the election you can bet you'll be picking up the phone, and his own staff said that he had tried to call trump but trump didn't take his call.

Or turn off the oil that flows into Quebec in Ontario.

Whether you like it or not we are actually extremely dependent on the US and while we can hurt them they can hurt us worse.

Now that may not be a horrible thing and worth suffering to a degree, because I don't believe the Americans have the tolerance for pain that we do either. But if you go straight to a nuclear option then the repercussions may be more than we can handle.

Doug ford backed the F off almost immediately when the Americans came back and told him to

It's strange that you  have election days on Mondays. Do you have some early-voting opportunities in case you can't go to vote on a Monday because of work?

On the other hand, American elections are always on a Tuesday.

As you have a similar electoral-system as the UK is it possible in your country that if there's an election today and the opposition wins the opposition-leader becomes PM tomorrow? In this case on April 29th?

Sure, in fact voting is technically open now.  And they''ll set up some actual advanced polling stations as well.

The law requires you be given time off work to vote.

And if you're going to be away you can request a mail in ballot. they won't just send one out but if you call and ask for one no problem.

If you don't vote it' s because you really weren't bothering.

If the government changes, it takes a couple weeks to change over.
