And on the other hand, if he's not insured, it's unbelievably stupid to forego fire insurance on a property in that area. There are big burns every year. Such a stupid decision. -- He's going to have to dig down deep into his surplus of "personal responsibility" and own the consequences.

the fire hydrants in Los Angeles ran dry because the reservoir was empty

America will have to annex Canada as the "51st State"

just to acquire the bulk water resources therein

I am aware of this, and he talked about how many folks in his neighborhood had their insurance canceled a few months ago... but I don't see where he has ever said he didn't have any.

And what about how California's own regulations (you love all of the regulations!) have driven insurance out of the market?

Many of these folks didn't forgo insurance because they wanted to, its because no one will sell them a policy.

that the insurance companies cancelled his insurance four months ago

NO EVIDENCE for ^this OPINION. In FACT insurance companies are withdrawing services due to massive losses from climate change induced DROUGHT. In San Diego, we haven't had any rain since last spring..
