Why would they go with that bobblehead when they already have a perfectly good dead-eyed Peter Thiel puppet in the JD Vance?

Gimme a break, every time JD Vance burps, you run to the bomb shelter.

No it's corporations that want the low-paid workforce and average Americans who want the cheap treats their labour provides. If it was up to me all those folks would be made citizens and paid a living wage.

You keep repeating this stupid shit without addressing the obvious fact that they actually won't do that work for the wages offered at present. If you want a domestic workforce to do that shit grunt jobs, you'll need to pay them more and guess what that means?

I don't really care about that couchf*cker, his career is doomed. No one who gets into Trump's inner circle stays there long and emerges unscathed.

Ok. I don't know what you want me to say. This isn't an airport. You don't have to announce your departures.

But I gave you a long and detailed response to your fascism thread with a whole crap ton of questions. Why didn't you answer?

We were talking about mass deportations of people who've been here for decades and contribute to the U.S. economy through their labour, taxes etc.

You keep repeating it because your brain is 90% plaque at this point. The U.S. unemployment rate is 4% which is basically full employment. Basically everyone who can work and wants to work is working. The idea that a massive number of vacancies at the bottom end of the labour pool will easily be filled by people who are already working in better jobs is utterly stupid.

1. Low attention to detail, seems to be the issue here.  Yes, "illegals" will be deported including people who are essential to the US economy.  Those guys who you hire out of the Home Depot parking lot to mow your lawn will be back in Honduras.

By your logic, if a home gets squatters while someone is on vacation, the squatters should be able to keep the home. Breaking the law for a long time is nit justification for breaking the law. Itnis justification for severe penalties.

The unemployment rate is misleading. The workforce participation rate helps color the unemployment rate:

https://www.bls.gov/charts/employment-situation/civilian-labor-force-participation-rate.htm

We have lost workers under Biden and that's a trend going back to before Trump. In large part, that's because we have had millions of baby boomers retiring. A 4% unemployment rate is based on a smaller number of workers.

Now look at this table:

https://www.bls.gov/emp/tables/civilian-labor-force-participation-rate.htm

16-24 year old aren't getting jobs at the same rate that they used to. The why is that the minimum wage has driven them out of the market in favor of blackmarket labor, aka illegal aliens. If you look even deeper into the graph, you'll see the men have lost far more jobs than the women. That's because the low skill labor jobs used to go to boys. Now they go to illegal aliens.

Right wingers' stubborn refusal to see the world as it is is baffling. Things are the way they are and the plan to depot 11 million people will not be consequence free. Contend with that instead of abstractions.

That doesn't change anything unless you expect Baby Boomers to come out of retirement to pick fruit. The labour pool is small, opening up more vacancies will just mean higher unemployment.

Again: you're expecting prime college-aged people to become fruit pickers, day labourers etc for the same wages that are currently being paid to immigrants.

I love how you try to claim I'm not viewing the world as it is when I literally gave you factual data, from government source, confirming reality. I do expect college aged people to accept those jobs because they haven't been able to get those jobs.

You should also know that seasonal agricultural jobs are qualified for a special, temporary work visa that legalizes migrant employment. But, employers then have to pay taxes, fill out paper work, etc. They end up just hiring illegal aliens. We need to reform that process and exempt seasonal employment from tax withholding and reduce paper work so that US citizens are easier to higher.

We should also expand that migrant visa scope to cover jobs illegal aliens currently hold. This would help us staff the positions you think would be left vacant.

However, we should never reward people that have knowingly violated the law for many length of time just because it is easier. The consequences of that are higher unemployment for our youth. But it goes farther than that. Those jobs that are stolen by illegal aliens would have taught our youth how to be an employee. A skill that employers are reporting is lacking in the younger generations: https://www.forbes.com/sites/markcperna/2024/02/20/gen-zs-painful-etiquette-gap-and-how-to-bridge-it/

Again: the assumption that these same youth are chomping at the bit to do the shittiest jobs in society for peanuts is farcical.

You want to fill those jobs with American kids, you're going to have to significantly increase wages and benefits, something Republicans and their business cronies usually oppose on the grounds that it would have a significant inflationary affect.

Yes, they are. I worked for $7.25/hr as a construction labor during summers in high school. At my school, there were guys that worked after school during harvest season, mowed lawns, fast food, delivered packages for ups or FedEx, etc. I absolutely do know they will do it.

Well, I mean, good for them, I guess.

But, honestly, could there possibly be anything in that report that is disqualifying. Republicans ran a sex abuser/rapist for the presidency and for unfathomable reasons, Americans elected him.

Now we're going to pretend that prostitution or statutory rape or sex trafficking is disqualifying to the AG?

I mean, of course it SHOULD be disqualifying, but this is not that America anymore.

Illegal immigrants aren't doing these jobs on a temporary part time basis. For many if not most, these are there primary occupations, not summer jobs.
