This is a screenshot of Yahoo's "News" page from 1 minute ago:

The gist of that story is that the "Friends of India" accused Poilievre of racism for cancelling the Diwali festival in Ottawa.

Only problem is, he isn't hosting that event, and the event isn't cancelled, as the link to Yahoo's article, pictured above, plainly states

Listen to this hate speech/drivel from the Indo-Canadian hate group known as "The Overseas Friends of India Canada"...

Members of the Overseas Friends of India Canada group say they were taken aback on learning that Opposition and Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre allegedly cancelled the annual event and accused politicians of “racism” and “systemic biases” against Canadians of Indian heritage in their grievance letter to the opposition leader.

“This is not just about a cancelled Diwali event or an event where the politicians decide to re-engage on their commitment to attend; it is about a much deeper, more insidious problem. Racism and discrimination are thriving in Canada, and this latest development has laid bare the systemic biases that still exist,” event organizers Overseas Friends of India Canada shared in a statement.

“Our politicians, by recusing themselves from these cultural celebrations, have sent a message—intentionally or not—that we, as Canadians of Indian heritage are not fully part of this nation, that we are somehow less Canadian because of our ancestral ties to India,” they added.

So this hate group runs out and makes these wildly inaccurate and libellous claims, and even worse, Yahoo News makes headlines of that slander, puts Poilievre's face right beside it, and throws it at Canadians.

Yahoo's lying doesn't stop there...

  • Pierre Poilievre's team confirmed that the event was never cancelled by the Opposition leader

The event wasn't cancelled... by anyone at all... it wasn't even cancelled. You have to read further to find that out though.

  • "This event has always been hosted by a member of the Conservative Caucus, this year being MP Doherty, and has never been organized by the Leader of the Opposition or his office. While there have been changes to the location and timing, MP Doherty will still be hosting an event to celebrate Diwali and Bandi Chor Divas in Ottawa with members of the South Asian community and Conservative Caucus."

"Mr. Poilievre looks forward to celebrating these important cultural and religious occasions with Canadians in the coming days," Poilievre's spokesperson added.

Have the NDP and Liberals managed to turn a large chunk of the Sikh community into a racist voting bloc, like the Dems did for so long with the blacks?

Sorry, the link is here.

What Yahoo News did with that story was disgusting.

They know that most people won't click on that link to find out that the whole story was just hate-mongering from a racist Sikh group.

"Racism and discrimination are thriving in Canada" says the Overseas friends of India.

The fact that there are huge numbers of people from India coming to live in Canada blows that narrative up.

Yahoo News didn't claim the CPC cancelled the event, they reported on a claim made by someone else and tried to follow it up, as they should.

You're missing the whole point.

Most people won't even bother to read the article, they'll just see this:

ScreenShot2024-11-01at9_15_06AM.thumb.png.ad6f33a6101cfefe39a76de36c50dad9.png

and carry on.

  1. Does the article prove that something racist happened, or not at all?
  2. Did Poilievre do something racist, or is he not even accused?
  3. Was the event cancelled, or just moved to a different venue?
  4. The complainant obviously lied several times there, so why are we to take his word that he wasn't notified that the event was moved elsewhere?

That looks like something that robo would post. It's 90% lies and disinformation.

There's no way that a company like Yahoo should be posting vile filth like that.

So you read the article and I read the article so why do you assume no one else did?

I agree, it looks like much ado about nothing.

I still don't know why you think  claims like this shouldn't be reported and followed up.

So how do you take what's in the article and sum it up thusly:

PP wasn't ever in charge of that event, it wasn't cancelled - it was just moved to a different venue, and there is no hint of racism involved in it, etc...

Can you describe the serious level of racism uncovered in that article that warranted that picture, Aristedes? I'm telling you, it's not in that article. Find me the quote.

That isn't in the link of the article you posted. That's why I question whether you had even read it.

That was the link to the article on the Yahoo News page.

I.e., when you landed on the Yahoo page, which I frequently do because we have some email accts there, you'd see that picture, and when you click on it, you see a story that doesn't prove racism on any level.

Maybe they changed that picture now. I sent a few complaints to various places.

Because this will be the narrative portrayed by the mainstream media for the next few weeks and a month from now, you'll be stating Polievre cancelled Diwali because he's a racist.

Do a google lens search on the picture of Poilievre and you find both the Globe and the Star used the same picture in stories on housing affordability.

The news ecosystem is a collage of images and stories pasted together in ways that start resembling this.

Politicians themselves need to take more personal responsibility for being misrepresented so sloppily by the media They should wear cameras and wire themselves up to live news feeds so the public can get it straight from the horse's ass itself.  This Yahoo news story is just as easily helping Poilievre by lighting up overly sensitive partisan hacks.

In the meantime the word racism, like woke, means everything and nothing at the same time, especially to the partisan hacks who throw them around with abandon. At least that's what my bullshit filter tells me.

It's just another burnt yet undercooked nothing burger.

Yeah it is.

The photo that I screenshotted and put in the OP was a hotlink that took you to that exact page.

That's why I said that Yahoo News is vile filth... the photo in the OP is unsupported by the content of the article.

What part of that don't you understand?

It's interesting that:

  1. you aren't concerned by that ultra-low standard of reporting
  2. instead of just ignoring that appalling display you start calling people names like a petulant child

No it isn't. There's entire political movements built on things like two kids somewhere who want you to say 'they said' instead of 'he said' or 'she said'.

Not from someone who's standard is the likes of FOX,  Newsmax and X.

1) Fox News is exceptional compared to Yahoo.

Can you find an example of Fox News going off and calling someone a racist like that, or some other equally serious slander, and then not even trying to substantiate their claim?

2) I don't even know what Newsmax is. I don't think we get that in Canada.

3) So funny that you had nothing bad to say about Twitter back when they were banning people for telling the truth about the BSL4 lab or the Hunter laptop, but now that they cleared off the fake "like" bots and aren't allergic to facts you hate it.

You've got a huge appetite for disinformation and a strong aversion to facts. You could win the nomination for the Dems or LPOC if you just wore some nice socks.

Aristedes, I'm still waiting for you to find an article on Fox that's as slanderous and unsupported as that Yahoo Drivel page was...
