Actually most countries weapons are fairly well documented. Numerous comppanies or orgs keep fairly close track, such as Janes.  I'm sure there's some secret stuff and things like 'how many tanks are operational' may be secret or not readily available but the size and hardware of most nations are pretty well known.

The Cold War lasted over 40 years and I was around for all of it. I was a teenager during the Cuban Missile Crisis. I think you are the one who has no clue.

Was anybody killed or anything destroyed by the Cold War?  Why would anyone in their right mind want a nuclear war and perhaps destroy mankind as we know it?

Did you know NATO and the U.S. is not allowing Ukraine to do whatever it wants against Russia?  Do you know why?

MAD ensured there was no nuclear war, not knuckling under whenever a dictator threatened to use it in order to get whatever they wanted. NATO and the US are lifting their restrictions when it comes to attacking Russian military assets inside Russia. Handcuffing them by not allowing it is what has caused more deaths and lengthened the war. Like Vietnam where the US handcuffed itself by imposing restrictions that ensured its own defeat. If there is a nuclear war over Ukraine, it will be 100% Putin's doing, not NATO's.

The big players are still discussing lifting the restrictions...Some Nato countries have already given permission...but most of NATO are still on the fence...NATO is famous for talking and taking their time to deliver desperately needed war materials. which has lead to the lengthening the war...
