Canada going downhill in every major category

Recommended Posts

Part of the dangerous slide downhill is the extreme governmental control and regulation of everything.

A prime example of this is the B.C. Freshwater Fishing Regulations.

Freshwater fishing regulations in B.C. - Province of British Columbia (gov.bc.ca)

It is full of unbelievable regulations that make no sense at all.

A major part of it is of course to collect more fees from sport's fisherman for everything anyone could imagine.

But it has made life very difficult.  You almost have to take a lengthy course of instruction to know all the regulation and be studying them continually to know what to do or not to do.

That has really made sport fishing a painful endeavour and actually wrecked it in many areas.

Here is one small example out of hundreds.

On page 14 Region 1 - Vancouver Island, there is a river named Ahnuhati River.  It is regulated yet it is a  river that very few if anybody would ever go to because it is located in the remote wilderness on the mainland east of the north coast of Vancouver Island.  There are no roads up there.  It is a mountainous wilderness with coastal islands and inlets.  Very remote.  The only way a person could get there would be by chartering a good-sized cabin cruiser or hiring a seaplane.  How many people are going to do that?

I could not even find it in a Vancouver Island backroad mapbook.  It is designated as Class II water April 1 to Oct.31 and steelhead stamp is mandatory Apr 1 to June 30.   This is of course just an excuse to collect extra fees as you require a special licence or permit for these things.

This is the case for countless rivers in B.C.  The whole thing is just a bureaucratic money grab. That is part of Socialist ideology.

I could go through the regulations and write a book on all the extreme regulations  used to make fishing unpleasant and add costs.

Lots of work for bureaucrats and conservation officers.

In meantime you clowns are citing Satan. Lol.

I get it.  You can go in that lake with a Kayak, rowboat and oars, but don't put a plastic propeller in the water which is driven by a little electric motor outside the water.  It might be contaminated with some disease.  Maybe I could clean the propeller end with an alcohol swab first.  Do you think they would accept that?

Apparently in some jurisdictions cleaning your equipment is an acceptable remedy.

What did the local authorities tell when you asked? Is there no phone number on the signage you can call? Around here they usually post signs at public boat launches and docks and I've seen similar notices at the bulletin board at the post office.

If they all just refer to Satan it's quite amazing no one's heard a thing about it in the news.

If you study the extreme regulation of BC freshwater sport fishing it can lead to another subject of heavy regulation of remote areas of the province.  That is all the areas the B.C. government has designated as Conservancy areas or preserved areas.  An examination of the government's information on this seems to show at least part of this was done as reconciliation with aboriginals even thou very few or nobody is even living in the areas.  Here is an example.

"

Nature and culture

Cultural Heritage

The Hunwadi/Ahnuhati-Bald Conservancy is within the traditional territory of the Da’naxda’xw Awaetlala First Nation. A number of cultural features in the area provide a strong indication of the historic occupation and presence of the Da’naxda’xw Awaetlala First Nation in the area now covered by the conservancy.

Wildlife

The intact nature of the two main watersheds in the conservancy makes it particularly important from an ecological perspective. The conservancy supports old-growth forests with healthy populations of salmon, grizzly bears and marbled murrelets, among other species.

Reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples

BC Parks honours Indigenous Peoples’ connection to the land and respects the importance of their diverse teachings, traditions, and practices within these territories. This park webpage may not adequately represent the full history of this park and the connection of Indigenous Peoples to this land. We are working in partnership with Indigenous Peoples to update our websites so that they better reflect the history and cultures of these special places."

Hunwadi/Ahnuhati – Bald Conservancy | BC Parks

It this really all necessary to burden taxpayers with a bureaucracy to create and enforce these kinds of conservancies?  Also, it is a great make-work project for government employees who will be faithful to the Socialists in return.

I am not that dumb to spend my time trying to talk to a bureaucrat.  You should know better and have more sense to know it is a waste of time.

I doubt if they created a special bureaucracy for this. BC Parks have plenty of staff to cover it. Around here First Nations are entering into management and employment agreements with the province for Parks within their territory.

Oh well at least you have the sense to just comply with the bureaucrats and their rules anyway.

Good on you.

Is it really the Christianity in you that compels your compliance? It's good for something after all.

No but who would have thought they could leave you feeling so triggered. It's not Christianity that makes you hard-boiled conservatives crazy it's the other way around.

Sure - because pointing out that an invasive illness isn't transmitted by battery powered propulsion systems is pretty much the same thing as invoking satan :)   Stupidicus 7 specifically says "Nor shall thou employ aquatic conveyances containing attached locomotion instruments powered by god's own lightning, for they are the devil's windmills!" :)

Put the joint down hippie - you done smoked yourself retarded :)

Nobody would have.  And nobody does.  That's just you spouting bullshit to try to cover up for your lying. And i'm not a christian.

Here's the thing. You make shit up and then get called on it all the time. And people see that.  And they know you're not honest, and that when you get called out you go to pieces faster than a hand grenade. And THAT'S why people call you a liar.

Just start telling the truth. It really doesn't take much more effort.

Some brains just aren't wired properly, whatever they read something else imprints. A positive is dismissed as leftism, socialist. Touting the glories of the market knowing SFA about it, never even having tried. White is seen as black, night as day.

Never attribute to maliciousness what is usually stupidity.
Or undiagnosed brain damage.

It's not only that Canadians are overtaxed, but what those taxes are doing for them. Canadians get a substandard, at best struggling to be on par but that's an exception now service from their federal and other governments than most or all of the developed world. In other, market analogy, we get mediocre product for an outrageous price, with no competition other than taking our custom to another town.

The cause of that is easy to see. The country is run by bureaucracies with no competition and about zero incentives to improve and being effective and efficient. The governments can tell them where to spend public cash but that's about it: the quality of the product isn't at all assured, not even its existence. And then they do what what they know best and still: spending the cash on itself. What? You can't get it anywhere else so pay up and no thanks. Unless you do find where you could spend it better.
