The US is like every other country, but on steroids. Gang violence, narcotics, prescription drug abuse, alcoholism, combat sports, steroid usage, muscle cars, even football.... all done on a different level in the US than anywhere else in the world.  

Basically anything you can do that damages brain cells is like a religion in the US. 

Mass murders are hugely popular in the ME, much moreso than in the US. It's so common that you don't hear about the killing of a mere 7 people.

Charles Whitman killed 14 & wounded 31 in 96 minutes

his primary weapon was a Remington Model 700 bolt action with a five round magazine

hence why he's called the "Texas Tower Sniper"

That was 57 years ago and he was in the tower for more than 90 minutes.

which is to pin people down over a vast area from the high ground

preventing their escape until he could pick them off

one tenth the population of America, yet one third as likely to be killed

so having a smaller population does mean the death rate will be higher per se

so gun control does not reduce the death rate per se

In the 26 years since Australia banned auto and semi auto weapons, instituted a registry, a 28 day waiting period and a buy back program after the Port Arthur massacre in 1996 , it has had one shooting involving 5 or more people, a murder suicide involving a single family.

In the 18 years  before 1996 there were 13 mass shootings involving 5 or more

No you aren't. 77 of Norway's victims where in a single attack in 2011.
