Zeitgeist Posted November 20, 2021 Report Posted November 20, 2021 (edited) We live under fascist rule by the public health authorities. If you think restrictions are going away even as hospitalizations and deaths due to Covid fall and the pandemic ends, think again. We’re transitioning out of public health fascism to green fascism. If you can find your way to Texas or Florida, you might be able to live out your days with some semblance of pre-pandemic living standards and the American Dream. Alberta’s government caved to international and national pressure. Climate change is the next excuse to crush you with restrictions on your movements and crippling fuel and food prices due to carbon taxes. myata Posted November 20, 2021 Report Posted November 20, 2021 (edited) Covid cases, Norway: 2,400 vs Ontario: 700 Covid fatalities, Norway: 3 (1 : 800 cases) vs Ontario: 5 (just under 1 : 100 cases) Covid restrictions, Norway: almost none vs Ontario: never ended from March 2020. You local exspert in plain numbers and visible results. Only 30K monthly (plus benefits) straight out of your pocket and hello "our frontline heroes". Is effective management of the disease the same as stricter restrictions on the society and skyrocketing to obscenity compensations of management and exsperts? Sure, only what you paid for. myata Posted November 21, 2021 Report Posted November 21, 2021 The main problem with the health-authoritarian strategy is that there's no clear exit. Just none, period. Mandatory, by hook or by crook mRNA boosting every six month plus exsperts waving hands and crying for a new lockdown every time cases hit certain watermark. For the foreseeable future, as the virus isn't going anywhere but new variants, including resistant ones, are certainly possible. How's that for the bright new dawn? myata Posted November 21, 2021 Report Posted November 21, 2021 Health-authoritarianism is also a dead end in the longer perspective because with each cycle of arbitrary restrictions by top-down autocratic management, the resistance in the society would increase and voluntary participation, wane. Protests in Europe now, whatever one may think about them are nothing like in the first phase, and the next time around continuation of the same may cause a complete loss of credibility. I don't know which is better between clueless and wasteful bureaucratic authocratism and populism, and don't even care to think about it. Quite possibly they are just a part of the same dumb cycle, constantly spawning and recreating each other in a society that wouldn't care to think and take responsibility. They are moving away from all that comes with living in the city, leaving it all behind for the rural life. Some of the cons, is having all those city dwellers , moving out to the country, They sure like to complain a lot about the lack of services, night clubs, entertainment, etc they complain about almost everything... and as the frosting on all of it...they are very vocal about how Ontario is much better, ya they are very vocal to anyone that will listen...What has added salt to those wounds is they have made some big purchases in moving here bought all the toys, and now don't have the funds to move back, or pay the down payment on a new house in Ontario. I know i can't make this stuff up... I think you Ontarians should do some crowd funding for them.. and save them... Not all of them, most love it here and have fit in well. and have adjusted to being a rednecks nicely. Here in NB 60 % of our new incoming population is from Ontario, and now our housing prices are getting out of control, flush with cash for the sale of their over priced homes, their is no outbidding them... they are now invading. Yeah the problem with moving out of Southern Ontario is that it’s a one-way ticket because you won’t be able to afford to move back down the road unless you downsize. I even saw it with friends who moved back from Chicago to Toronto. Chicago and most US cities are cheap compared to Toronto and Vancouver. You have to be happy with moving out of the Big Smoke. I have to admit that when I moved to England for a while it seemed pretty sleepy compared to the GTA, including in bigger English cities. Once the fast pace here is in your blood, it’s hard to give it up, much as we complain about it. I did really enjoy NB and the Maritimes when I visited: St. Andrew’s by the Sea, Bay of Fundy, lobster… Edited November 21, 2021 by Zeitgeist 1 Quote
myata Posted November 22, 2021 Report Posted November 22, 2021 (edited) Without a reasonable explanation and justification one is fully in their right to consider it just another bureaucratic cost, an overhead to living in this country. Why annual license renewal should go from $70 to $120 in less than a decade? Why the cost of every public service is edging up year on year? And now we have an entry tax. OK whatever just take it and get lost. The country's bureaucracy is on the leading edge globally, and this is hardly new or of any surprise. Will it get any better, everyone can guess. blackbird Posted November 23, 2021 Report Posted November 23, 2021 Glad the government is going to bring in a law making harassment of health care workers a criminal offence. Long overdue. Quote
myata Posted November 23, 2021 Report Posted November 23, 2021 Did you notice how the country is becoming an accomplished formal bureaucracy? Just write it on the paper. Mandate and prescribe; make a criminal offense; decriminalize. Allocate and spend XYZ public billions. And that's all. And no other ideas, approaches and instruments. Is it going to work?
