So, Trudeau majority or minority?

Make your friendly bets on this, oh so close, election that is coming. (sarcasm, it's going to be a landslide for Trudeau)

50/50.  I say that because calling an election will be seen as cynical, and David Peterson-like.

Like a contributor from another forum said to me in French, Tories can be stupid enough to shoot themselves in the foot optically speaking, and get too gnarly against COVID restrictions and passports come election time.

The bureaucracy in this country takes for granted that Canadians  will set the checkmark of legitimacy on its near-unlimited rule. The only chance it would notice the citizens any other time is if voter participation would drop below 30% or better 20%. But what would be the chance of that? Nothing any longer matters. This makes no difference to me and for me.

According to reliable projections on a proven model, Libs are at 36%, Tories 29%, NDP 19%.

170 seats needed for a majority, Libs are projected to win 173.

Canada deserves everything Justin throws at them, not once not twice but this will be 3 time he will get a win... you just can't beat stupid...And if he gets a majority he will finish burning this nation to the ground.

We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have now done so much for so long with so little, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.

After everything Justin has done to date ,do you really think calling an election during a pandemic is going to stick, I'd bet a full months paycheck that Justin could take a dump on a liberals voters doorstep, run naked through parliament, do one more black face, and dance at the gay pride parade in a toto. And still get a majority.

I don't support Trudeau, I'm hesitating between Conservatives and BQ... and I think History will tell Tories went crazy about the fact Trudeau won so many times and said doom was coming everytime he won. So dramatic, man.

That's food for thoughts on our side.

That's a fair point. Bureaucracy could be minimalized by improving government processes/cutting some administrative work, get rid of the Governor General, get rid of half the Senate, hiring less for the State, but no one is talking about it. Even the 'lower the taxes' party, the CPC, doesn't talk about that issue.

Sure, how can one unaccountable, not transparent, without any meaningful checks and balances and independent oversight and with near dictatorial powers between elections, government be worse than the other? Oats or porridge dear, porridge or oats? That simple song stops working with an average human child around the age of three, but have worked flawlessly in this country for well over a century.

Here's more arrogance and hate towards Ontario from guess where.

I maintain that I never hear Torontonians disparage the other parts of the Canada.

Someone from Toronto  whining about arrogance . . . . that's a good one Michael.

Again, you're confusing yourself and trying to diffuse your misconceptions to other Canadians , , , eg:  Using the harsh word 'hate' when the proper reference would be 'contempt' . . . . .

The democracy in the country is in the dire state. The most problematic is that there's neither avenues nor working mechanisms to bring it up to date and renew it. This condition is worrying and at some point can become scary.

Once again, what is the impending doom you guys are always talking about?

Debt? We've got through much worse in the 90s.

Security? Immigration? Foreign invasion?

Interesting. The country is run top down by hand as in the 18th and 19th centuries, without transparency; responsibility and accountability while the challenges of this century like climate change, economy, housing, overpopulation and others are just ahead. And there's no way to change anything, one tiny thing, "Senate reform", "election reform" no no all has to remain exactly as it was back in 1867. Is it a good plan? If nothing happened in so many years does it mean that one could sail forever oblivious of the reality. All good questions, but who answers?

Oh! . . . I didn't know that Quebec had joined Canada.  When did that happen?  Yet, Quebec is receiving huge sums of money from the real Canada.

Quebec is Canada's tapeworm.  Time to take the medicine and rid ourselves of this parasite . . . .

Climate change is not a threat to Canada. It could be a blessing for us actually.

Economically speaking, we're a first world country and I don't see any indications we're heading to thirld world status.

Housing is getting expensive, but is not scarce. It's a bubble.

Overpopulation..? We have the 2nd biggest country on Earth with tons of water.

Can't you see we have it good?

That made me laugh, because I think Alberta is now the net recipient of subsidies and publicly funded projects.

I try to see with my eyes, not ears. Won't repeat here all over again but in one of the threads there's a calculation of expenses for a median family (before taxes just under 90K) and with the prices of the day it's barely enough for daily expenses.

It is not possible to study full time and earn living for an average student without going into deep debt. Prices have doubled or more in a generation, while salaries, at the same level, barely moved for most people, except MP and GG. One has to win a lottery to apply for a govt job.

So I guess the question is, who is "we" and what do we compare with? With Venezuela, sure better still, but with the dynamics what and where will it be for a median family, in another generation?

Here in 'socialist Québec' we don't get in debt for our education for example, because we have college that is very affordable. Maybe if the rest of Canada could increase their province taxes a bit like we do here for publicly funded programs, maybe the working class would get a bit more. You are right about the fact the working class are having it difficult, and it is hard to figure out what to do about the complex problems such as the lack of employment. But saying that because Liberals are elected the country will burst into flames or resemble Venezuela is totally hysterical. It is a corrupt party with lots of flaws. The leader is not bright and lacks diplomatic tact. He is taken very lightly internationally, and the public finances are not well managed. But it's not like we have a Maduro leading us. That's why Tories are laughed at right now by regular, unpolitical folks. You are a bunch of nuts who think the sky will fall on Canada because Justin Trudeau cried in a speech and wore Chewbacca socks. Get the f'ck over it.

That was never said, a pure fantasy. What was said, is systemic problems in the country do have relation to the quality of management of the public matters and if it remains on the level of sophistication of centuries back it will not get better any time soon. Worse, possible and even likely.

Comparing it to Venezuela is exactly what I portrayed you doomsaying about.

No guarantees that at some point it would not achieve that level too, if there's no change. In evolution there's no guarantees and dinosaurs have learned that the hard way.
