Wow, you must be a goddam genius. Someone tell the British. Oh wait... too late.

We knew, it was mentioned in the act of parliament which brought the referendum into being.

It's just that David Cameron promised to enforce the result of the referendum which ever way it went no matter how tiny the winning margin.

Of course, he stepped down the day after the referendum and has pretty much been in hiding ever since.

Given the majority result that answered it clearly, there should be no more need for any moaning or hand-wringing. By now one would think David Cameron is a national hero.

He freed her from the shackles of the dreaded Euros, and the globalists. That is what this is about, those countries that are still able, seek to make their own determination. The UK has now said they choose to side with the United States. The Euros meanwhile continue to side with their very own enemies, China (trade), Russia (energy), Iran (energy). Then complain when their virtue is challenged.

Indeed Brexit must break the very heart of the left, in what it implies. We are a people, we have a heritage and a past. We identify ourselves by it, and most importantly, we seek to preserve it, protect it. Must... protect...

You miss the whole point of the EU. It is not there to talk about ''enemies'' it is for the mutual benefit of its member states.

It seeks to abandon the outdated ideas of ''us and them''. It has brought unprecidented levels of peace and prosperity in Europe.

The UK was known as the sick man of Europe before it joined and the benefits gained from membership brought it up to the position of 4th largest GDP in the world. Along with those economic benefits it brought advances in worker's rights, environmental regulations and shared ideals.

As for your last paragraph, opposing the poison of identity politics and shallow nationalistic ideals are why it came into being in the first place. The second world war and its racial purity horrors should never be repeated and cooperation and mutual advancement are what the union strives for.

The EU was created primarily to contain Germany.  There was question as to whether Germany should be allowed to exist as a nation after the war.

It was formed to include Germany not simply contain it. The first move was the  European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) agreed between France and West Germany in 1951.

It then progressed to the Treaty Of Rome in 1957 between France, West Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg in order to reduce the economicaly harmful isolation caused by archaic trade laws which left Europe weak against the huge trade block of the United States. The European Economic Comunity (EEC) also known as the common market followed a year later in 1958.

The collapse of trade with Britain's former Empire left the UK isolated and economically weak. The UK was desperate to join the Common Market but was blocked by France under De Gaulle in the 60's. By the time we were allowed to join in the early 70's Britain was an economic basket case.

That is the economic history lesson that the petty, nationalistic, Little Englanders refuse to acknowledge with their desire to return to a sovereignty which was never actually lost.

Britain joined the EEC, the former version of the EU, in 1973 just to gain access to the single-market. They never wanted ti be a part of some European superstate.

In fact, when Britain joined the EEC it had a very damaging effect on many of its fellow Commonwealth-members.

I guess it wasn't a big deal in Canada but it was a huge deal for New Zealand whose agriculture depended heavily on exporting its products to Britain. With Britsin joining the EEC that was no longer possible.

Cameron made a big boo-boo big having a referendum on Brexit. He did not expect what the result was going to end up being. Now Brexit is here. Good for the pro-Brexit people who have finally won and who have had enough of the EU butting in and controlling their political affairs. I think that immigration had a lot to do with people voting for Brexit.

It's too bad that here in Canada we cannot have a referendum as to whether we want to allow the UN to continue to control our daily lives. The UN is destroying this once great nation. The EU and the UN are all full of unelected bureaucrats who are only put in there by the globalist elite to pretty much screw up every country on earth. My opinion.

I don't know where you get your facts but New Zealand exports huge quantities of their main agricultural products (Lamb) and butter to the UK. Australia only has to comply with regulations against injecting hormones and they could export their beef to us. We buy vast quantities of Canadian wheat to make bread as our climate does not produce wheat with high enough gluten content for the purpose.

In fact, the UK imports 20% of the food it consumes from non-EU countries compared with 30% from the EU and 50% home produced. Since the EU is right on our doorstep it makes perfect sense that more of our food comes from there rather than further abroad.

Trade with Commonwealth nations was already in decline long before we joined the Common Market mainly as a result of geographical proximity.

I'm afraid that you have fallen for one of the myths of the Brexit movement.

Yes, and we know what they say about opinions and arseholes...

Far better to deal in facts.

Facts such as no EU regulations have been imposed on the UK without the approval of the UK parliament.

The dependence on others is the very reason they wanted Brexit. They are willing to pay that price.

What are they going to get for that price? It’s an awful lot of hassle to go through, involving the expenditure of large numbers of civil servant years of work, to get back to where they were essentially. Both the EU and UK are weakened as political entities given that Scotland and NI voted Remain by clear margins. At least Putin is pleased.

Yes we can all read Wikipedia.  Germany almost didn't exist as a country after the war.  Containing it within a federation was one of the options under consideration.  Scroll down to the section "Impact of the Second World War": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ideas_of_European_unity_before_1945

A UK parliament did and agreed and was expected to go along with the rules and regulations required by the EU. What is the point of being in a union with other countries where one country can do whatever it wants too, while another country can do whatever it wants too? What is the point to a union then? There pretty much must be uniformity. The UK pretty much had to abide by what the EU or Brussels dictated to them. Obviously, the British people did not like being told what to do anymore, and having EU regulations imposed on them, and thus the Brits wanted out, and are now free to do their own thing without having to deal and consent to the will and regulations of the EU anymore. Now that is a fact.

So, just what are we supposed to know about what they say about "opinions" and "arseholes"? Just curious. ;)

Apparently, millions of British Brexiters did not want to have to give up their freedoms to the EU controlling their lives anymore. They must have all wanted to get out of the EU for some good reason. Yes/no? Or are you just one of those people who thinks that those Brexiters were a bunch of dummies and are clueless now to what they have just done? Are you a sore loser by chance?

The only one here who appears to have fallen for the myth that the sky will come falling down because of Brexit is you. Nothing will change. The sky will still be up there. Just a few words on some contract or agreement that will be needed to be rewritten and that is about it. The trading deals will still go on because they all still need one another for their business and themselves to survive. The only countries that benefit from being part of the EU are the poor non-productive ones who will benefit more from being a part of the EU. It's kind of like socialism. One country has to try and prop up the other. Socialists believe that the money made by the rich or middle class should be shared with the poor. Soon, then everybody is broke and poor.

Trade between countries will never go away. It is here to stay. We even have trade between western free capitalist countries and communists countries. Go figure, eh? ;)

Yes that's why we were forced to use the Euro and become part of the Schengen zone.

Oh wait...

Well, now there will be no need to be worried about ever having to use the Euro someday nor have to maybe one day be forced to open the British border for all of Europe to just walk right on in. No border anymore. Hey, you never know now that Brexit is now in place.

So, just what is your problem with Britain leaving the EU? How will this Brexit impact your life and way of living? Are you now going to be out of a job because of Brexit? What are the bad sides to this Brexit that you appear to be quite concerned over? Just curious. I await your reply. ;)

There never was any worry of being forced to use the Euro or join Schengen. That's the thing about the supremacy of Parliament, it gives ultimate sovereignty to the UK  government.

On a personal level, Brexit will mean that I can no longer drive my food truck to an EU country and trade without having to apply for permission which I was previously able to do when I catered at a juggling festival in the Republic of Ireland. I may no longer be able to retire to my house in France as I had planned to do.

In general terms the UK economy is predicted to shrink as restriction free trade with our major trading partners is disrupted. Inflation is set to rise as the pound falls and possible tariffs on imports will exacerbate this particularly on food products. The Union between England and Scotland is likely to end after more than 300 years. The division in society caused by Brexit will take a long time to heal. The value of the pound has already suffered along with overseas investment in British industry. Labour shortages in the NHS and other industries such as agriculture will get worse as EU immigrants continue leave the country in large numbers. Britain will be isolated and lengthy trade negotiations will have to be entered into with not only the EU but also 70 other countries which we previously had trade deals with as a member of the EU.

No doubt you will continue to disregard these concerns as simply ''project fear'' without providing any evidence and will reject any links I provide to examples of some of them already happening as fake news from the liberal media.

I have no illusions about convincing you as I have already seen how you operate and am aware of your trolling and petty nationalistic attitudes.

You are not even in any jeopardy if your ill informed opinions turn out to be completely wrong as you don't live in the UK as I do.

In fact, I don't really know why I'm even bothering to take the time to reply to you. There are many far better informed and less entrenched people here to converse with.

Have a nice day.

Quit with your trolling bs, will you. Why is it when some people like you do not like what others have to say you like to label them as trolls? Maybe you are the troll here, eh? Touche! I guess in this case it is all just about you, hmmm? Just wondering.

True, it's not my azz that has to deal with Brexit. But apparently, the millions of Brits who did vote for Brexit were not concerned about it. They must have seen more benefit to leaving the EU than maybe you do? There will be winners and losers because of Brexit but that is democracy. The majority spoke, and now people like yourself will have to deal with it. Imagine if that majority had ended up being in the minority, and there was no Brexit? Then they would have to live with your love for being in the EU, and no doubt they would not be all too happy with having to stay in the EU. It works both ways, fella. They won and you lost. Life must and will go on. Who knows, it may work out better for you in the end. Hey, you never know. I have listened to Nigel Farage many times, and he is quite convinced that Britain would be far better off being out of the EU. You should talk to Farage and find out as to why he thought it was better for Britain to be out of the EU. I think that he knows a lot more about the EU than you do. You also have an immigration problem that is costing you hundreds of millions of pounds every year to look after illegals. Your tax dollars are being blown on foreigners just like is done in Canada. You would have more dollars in your wallet if it were not for legal and  illegal refugees. Just saying.

Anyway, all countries and their economies are expected to shrink at one time or another. But in many instances they usually bounce back. It's all just the doom and gloom people who make lot's of money from trying to terrorize the people into believing that something drastic is about to happen because of Brexit. Try living in Canada with our Canadian dollar(peso). For Canadians to want to go to Britain or America for a vacation it costs us approx.30% to 35% more to go to those countries. Britain will do just fine without being in the EU, and so will you. Just a few minor changes for you to have to accept and deal with.

It's no sweat off my thingy's if you think that others here are more to your liking. Have fun talking with them. Have a nice Brexit day. ;)

I think you are kind calling his ideology nationalist. Its not. His concept as explained on this forum excludes anyone from nationality who is not defined by him as his version of what a white Christian should be. Its got nothing to do with nationality.  Its just an exclusive bigoted category he places himself in and likes to exclude others from. I appreciated your perspective. You are directly impacted so I prefer to hear from people like you for that reason. Thank you.

Many Brits were concerned about their country's lack of control over immigration. That was most say the primary factor for their wanting out. How much of that fear was based on the same kind of ideology you spout is another story. Also the concerns I stated are view points of someone directly impacted by the Brexit. He is entitled to his opinions which are not based on defining people as you do by whether they fit your preconceived notions of what a white Christian should be.

As soon as you start talking about illegals it becomes clear that your arguments have nothing to do with Brexit.

Thanks to its island status the UK has very few illegal immigrants. EU workers come here perfectly legally and pay taxes just like everyone else.

Also the fact that you think it will be just a few minor changes shows your ignorance and unwillingness to understand the consequences of leaving the world's largest trade block.

You are not alone, even people in this country ignored those consequences and listened to xenophobes like Farage.
