Thing is, the Avs didn't actually play bad, they were out shooting the Loafs two to one, Steddie Freddie just had a good night.

Yeah Freddie held the Leafs in it until the PP sleeping giant finally awoke, and that was the game.

Leafs had the razzle dazzle going, hard to beat them when they move the puck like that,  neither Varlamov nor Grubauer had much of a chance on those power play goals,

Nanny State Warriors in action, tic-tac-toe.

At this point the Avs biggest miss is taking Makar ahead of Pettersson, Makar is going to have to turn out to be one heck of a player for that not to be a big time miss.

Yeah Makar better be the s**t, or the Avs f***ed up real bad on that one.

It's not that he's not doing well in college, he's a candidate for the Hobey Baker.  On the other hand so was Tyler Bozak.

Auston Matthews power play goal, let's go baybee! 3-2 Loafs.

Even if he gets hurt for half the year, every year, from here on out, the scoring that he does when he's healthy will be worth the price tag, especially if he's healthy when it matters, in the playoffs. Not too many players in the league that you could say that about either.

Problem is he gets rocked in the playoffs too, Matthews is sort of oblivious to incoming contact, there's just not the same kind of hitting in the USHL

Even Nylander  is a master of getting out of the trolly tracks, and Marner is like spiderman, while Matthews' kryptonite is lollygagging into the blindside.
