The Slow Painful Death of the Trump Administration

It's not outdated, it served a purpose then, it serves a purpose now. People being aware of what's happening in Washington has nothing to do with the Electoral College. It's purpose is so that people in major cities can't so easily drown out the voices of those who live in more rural areas as they would under a popular vote. The entire point of the EC is that the founders didn't want a popular vote to decide who gets to be President. The President is supposed to be the President of all Americans, not just the President of the majority of voters in the big cities, who can easily ignore the needs of people in flyover country.

It is outdated but more importantly is is fixed in favor of Republicans. If they want to keep it they should square it up. With Trump in power that's not likely to happen now is it.

It is not fixed in favor of Republicans. The Republicans used to do well in cities, and the EC played to Democrats advantage when the South was their stronghold. The Democrats have simply decided they'd now rather do well in the cities, then exploit the fact that winning more rural states is a more efficient way of winning the EC, and Republicans adopted the Democrats old strategy.

Nothing is stopping Republicans or Democrats from changing strategies to exploit rural voters punching above their weight in the EC, in fact it has happened in the past. Both parties know the rules, crying when one side loses by claiming they won a metric that doesn't matter, is just being a sore loser. The EC isn't broken, but the butthurt losers who want to change the system, every time a Republican POTUS doesn't win the popular vote, they are broken.

You think it's "butthurt" to want to allow the majority of the people have their say? I suggest you go live in Afghanistan.

Doesn't apply in the EC. You are talking about house districts, which aren't part of the EC.

Yes it does. When you can redraw borders that will favor your party thats called gerrymandering, and it has been shown to work well.

The state borders haven't been redrawn in quite a while, by Democrats or Republicans. You don't know what you are talking about. The last time the state borders were redrawn, I'm pretty sure the Democrats were the one benefiting from the EC anyway, not Republicans, but that can change over time, and it hasn't had anything to do with gerrymandering.

Nothing to do with state borders. Voting districts. Apparently you are the one lacking knowledge of the issue.

The EC has everything to do with state borders. Voting districts do not impact the EC, they impact the house of representatives, and they aren't the same thing.

Doesn't even know what the EC is, but is sure it serves no purpose anymore and has to go. Not atypical of most EC haters.

Agreed...he doesn't understand what the EC is, the 12th Amendment that changed it after the 1800 election, or why it was created in the first place.
