betsy
Trump makes trouble by making demands at NATO summit! Trump is not a team player. How dare Trump bring up deadbeat and free-loading at this summit of friends and allies. That's how Canadian media want to spin it. AND YET, the same Canadian media say something like: "Oh there's nothing new about letters being sent to countries about meeting the agreed stipulation of how much each should contribute. The same complaint has been sent by previous Presidents. " So......what do you do when everybody just keep ignoring those letters? Trump knows what to do. You get in their face and say it bluntly: stop being a deadbeat! Do your share! Isn't that how it's done when you're being a deadbeat in our everyday life? You get a friendly reminder. Then you get an official letter. Then you get a threatening letter - pay up or else. Then you get someone calling - pay up or else. Then you're taken to court! So, why is the media so surprised and aghast by Trump's method?
betsy
And then they go rallying behind our Trudeau.....making it seem like he's leading! Leading the deadbeat - is that something to crow about? Well, his pathetic excuse - and excessive use of the terms, "friends" and "allies" - makes Canada look like a sleaze trying to squirm anyway she can to avoid meeting her OBLIGATION! Did we, or did we not agree...... and signed up for that? Do you have your friends pick the tab up for you every time? And when you do contribute.....do you grudgingly HAGGLE about it? We've got money coming out of our yin-yang.......just look at the spendings this Trudea does. And yet, he makes us look pathetic before the world. HAGGLING about quality and quantity! And he dare bring up the terms "friends" and "allies." Here. See for yourselves. Source: NATO https://www.defensenews.com/global/europe/2018/03/10/how-much-do-nato-member-nations-spend-on-defense/ GREECE can meet her obligation. Why can't we? betsy
So Trump points out, "Germany is captive by Russia." 70% of Germany's gas comes from Russia - that makes her dependent on Russia, doesn't it? How does that play with negotiations??? A pundit says, "well.....what he's saying is actually true......but you don't say that in public." Yoo hoo? What happened to TRANSPARENCY? GostHacked
If the USA wants to lead the war on terror, there is no obligation for NATO to be part of that effort. Since it is not about defence, there is no reason for ANY NATO member to step up.

That's what I hear.

Queenmandy85
Betsy, to meet President Trump's request for 4% right away, we have to increase our Defence budget from $25 billion to $60 billion, and increase of 35 billion. That breaks down to an average increase of $1350 per tax payer. Can you afford that?

So, why is the media so surprised and aghast by Trump's method? Anyone in their right mind does not listen to the Canadian left wing liberal news media anymore. They like to lie and spread bull chit. Trump wants to be a team leader and Trump knows how to be a leader, and get in other leaders faces and make them squirm, and is nowhere near our dead beat feminist leader of a prime mistake is. Imagine this dead beat leader of ours leading the charge into a battle? Okay troops you go forward and I will go backwards. Good luck to all. Fight for me. I will wait to hear from you in the Cantina sipping on a foreign beer. Trudeau appears to forget that America is the elephant and Canada is the mouse and if that elephant steps on our mouse head we are squashed and finished. Trump is right and the Canadian liberal media snowflakes know it to be true. The CBC is the worse for promoting Trump hatred. Our liberal CBC lame duck media cannot even mind their own business when it comes to Trump and his pick for the Supreme Court. They have to give their two cents worth on it. As if Trump cares about what they have to say about his pick. The CBC is such a joke.

I recently read an article indicating that U.S. military spending, which is currently about 3.2% of U.S. GDP, is set to fall to below 3% of GDP over the next few years. So, where is his 4% demand coming from? As a columnist, for the NY Times I believe, recently noted, Trump's strategy appears to be to set outrageous expectations and then declare that alliances and institutions he clearly detests have failed when America's allies reject his demands.
