Ginsy, to clarify,  why should any Canadian taxpayer pay any money for "this matter"?

Make no mistake: Justin Trudeau is using other people's credit cards to buy votes.

But Justin Trudeau, like his mom, is bad at math.

To clarify, I don't wholly agree that a taxpayer should pay for this matter. But I do think the apology was deeply needed. The thing is, I'm not entirely sure Trudeau's compensation is genuinely rooted in his care for the LGBT community or his care for his public image!

I think what one might say in defence of Canadian taxpayer money going towards this matter is that we all work towards the interests of our fellow nationals, including our LGBT members who were wronged by their employers, so some of our taxes are going to be used to help compensate for their loss. Now, that's just one possibility, and I'm sure someone with a more knowledgable perspective may have better reasoning than I do.

You know, you can take whatever stance you would like to on this issue, or any issue for that matter, but it definitely helps to do so in a mature and reasonable way. As someone who agrees with the government on this matter, I'd be a lot more open to hearing your side of the debate if you presented your argument in a way that is actually respectable. Jumping to ad hominem without any justifications for your point really tarnishes its credibility. Try again maybe?

Yes you can start a topic about it and we can share any informations about the issue. Currently I am not interested with that but still I will share info from time to time. We have discussed that before in another topic.

Okay I am starting a topic in my club to prevent troll posts.

In your post you sarcastically indicated that people a part of the LGBT community are perverts, and then implied that they are not on the same spectrum as "normal people". Yet, you haven't explained why. So, why?

Here I started this topic over your interests to talk about the issue. You can post there.

Of course Trudeau's financial compensation is not tied to this one issue, but the future of the Liberal Party of Canada certainly is.  Since no sane, logical and informed person could possibly vote for the Liberals as this administration has presented themselves, they have desparately sought out new sources of support - paying for such idiocy with our tax/debt money.  Can you not see the pattern?  Minority whines, Liberals give them not only what they want, but MILLIONS of times more than any sane person could ever consider.  Think of the aborigianl situation, the "refugee" immigration nonsense, Khadr "millions for murder" scandal - the list is endless, and the bill is in the many BILLION$$ - all just do buy votes.

If ANY alphabet soup of minorities has been wronged by their employer, it is up to their employer to compensate for their loss, NOT my grandchildren.

Ok, let's break down your assessment of the Liberals' strategy.  You think they are planning to buy the election by settling lawsuits by disadvantaged groups.  I guess that could make sense as a strategy if deployed carefully.  I don't think that it is a winning strategy, though, if everything else is ignored.  It just won't work.

Also you pepper your posts with hyperbolic and hysterical exclamations like this:
"MILLIONS of times more than any sane person could ever consider.  "  ( This means you think the settlement for wronged individuals should have been less by a factor of 2 million or more, which is to say you think the government should have offered them, as a group, $50. )

"If ANY alphabet soup of minorities has been wronged by their employer, it is up to their employer to compensate for their loss, NOT my grandchildren."  You missed the point hugely, as the subtitle of the article is "
Compensation comes after former federal government employees launched class-action lawsuit".  The government WAS their employer, so the government has to compensate them.

Mine isn't.  I m thinking about buying a handgun, maybe a really big one.  And no-one can stop me.

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhahahahahahahaha

The liberals have and still are trying to make it very difficult for people like you to own a gun. In their opinion you may be wanting to buy a gun and go out there and start shooting up people. You are not to be trusted. HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA.

What enemy are you talking about? Clarify.

The only enemy and non-patriotic people that I know of in Canada are the liberals.

Hey, look at that, you're smarter than appearances would suggest.

So what are you waiting for, permission?

Too late for me! I have my permit.  I'm just wondering about things like calibre, and the whole composite vs metal thing.

I haven't decided what I'm going to shoot yet.  I suppose it depends on how I feel at the time...

Nope, just waiting for you to clarify or are you just all talk as usual?  Simple question. Go ahead, make your day.

Where do we draw the line, one must admit that this Liberal government has issued a lot of apologies lately. Is this the current governments mandate to correct all of CANADA'S mistakes and how far do we go.....it seems that our governments have not shown very good judgement in the past.....or perhaps different times different judgement processes, but why now ? why do we have to correct them now....

We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have now done so much for so long with so little, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.

Well, let's just hope that you don't go and start shooting a bunch of innocent people who did nothing bad or wrong to you. If you want to commit suicide then go attack some army barracks or cop shop. They will put you out of your misery. Just saying.

Trudeau wants to get elected the next time around. What better way to try and get elected than to grovel at all the crybabies out there. The liberals could careless about those whiners. The liberals just want their votes using your tax dollars and blowing those tax dollars on those hurt feelings people. Liberals are never healthy for any society. They just create more sickness and depression, and laugh all the way to the bank. I wonder which group will be next?

My opinion.

I know what you mean but I wouldn't put a limit on how much an individual should apologize for misdeeds so why put it on a country?

Michael, you really seemed to miss the point.  There is not compensation of $50 due, nor $0.50.  There should be NO compensation whatsoever paid by our tax bill on behalf of anyone.  Appologies...go for it.  Money - screw off.

But you yourself said that the employer should pay.

Yes, employers who have wronged employees and caused damages based on the reality of the day.  TODAY it might be objectionable, but not that many years ago, it would be normal even for a government job to dismiss people for all kinds of reasons that political correctness has changed today.  The standard of the day was NOT to do so, and I don't believe it is right to roll back the calendar.  This also applies to residential schools.

Fine.  Well you saved your argument by changing it, which is sneaky but at least it implies that you had other factors in mind when you made the statement.  Whatever.

The courts would probably not agree, for whatever reason, so there is still something to settling claims but I acknowledge that Trudeau makes political hay out of it when he can.
