betsy Posted February 12, 2017 Author Report Posted February 12, 2017 The more I think about it, I don't think there'll be any real negotiations happening between Trudeau and Trump on Monday. The fact that Trudeau's meeting was just sort of squeezed in at the last minute between two important meetings with Japan and Israel - both of whom had been planned in advance - seems to suggest that Trump already know what to say to Trudeau. Trump is unlike other US Presidents in the past. Quote Trump says he’s meeting with Trudeau to talk trade “We’re going to start some negotiations having to do with NAFTA. . . . I ran a campaign somewhat based on NAFTA,” Trump told an audience of administration staff. “We’re going to start renegotiating on NAFTA, on immigration and on security at the border,” Trump said. https://www.thestar.com/news/world/2017/01/22/trump-to-begin-talks-on-renegotiating-nafta.html Edited February 12, 2017 by betsy Quote

betsy Posted February 12, 2017 Author Report Posted February 12, 2017 (edited) It's not Trump who'll pay homage to the likes of Trudeau - who's nothing but a shill for Obama's vision! Bucking at tradition is a way of knocking Trudeau down a peg or two. "You need something? You come to me." Trump was vocal during his rallies in saying he's also inspired by Reagan. Trudeau Sr and Reagan had a frosty relationship. Edited February 12, 2017 by betsy Quote
bush_cheney2004 Posted February 13, 2017 Report Posted February 13, 2017 Never before has so much been written before the meeting of a Canadian PM and a U.S. president. It's like Canadian media are preparing for the worst but hoping for the best...as in nothing happens to infuriate President Trump. No biggee...it wouldn't be the first time that a U.S. president clashed with a Canadian PM. JFK famously called Diefenbaker a "boring son-of-a-bitch". 1 1 Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

betsy Posted February 13, 2017 Author Report Posted February 13, 2017 Oh dear....maybe it ain't so bad, after all. Who knows, maybe Trump will be magnanimous enough and forgive all the potshots done by Trudeau. Maybe Trump will take him under his wing and end up indoctrinating Trudeau! Quote
