Considering all the negative posts today about Isam, I thought I'd post something pretty hilarious. It is a common theme around women's hygiene products (that they are a secret that no man likes to purchase for their female partners). I never understood that.

I won't post the texts here as there are too many but it is truly a laugh.

I agree - not a big deal.

It's like the attitudes are straight out of the '80's or something.

Some of us old timers were schooled on feminine hygiene products as children, when there was a much simpler approach. You had your basic "Kotex" "maxi" pad that came in a large box, complete with discrete disposal bags. Would make a nice pillow for a squirrel. I bought them on errand for me mum at the corner store, along with dog food. The tubing from a big red douche bag hanging on the hook in the bathroom was great for making slingshots.

Minis, tampons, panty liners, odor sprays (once named "Sprunt" by George Carlin), etc.,...came much later.

...no big deal.

Why do feminists say stuff like this? I've bought them for my wife and daughter. This whole embarrassment or shame thing is so overplayed, i've never shied away from buying those products and i'm not sure i know any men who have shied away from it.

At 13, the kid can use and spell "big" words (like patriarchy)........is impressive!

Feminists don't say it, advertisers do. It's designed to give the potential shopper an affinity with the manufacturer. It's the same when drug companies use the "Man whining for his mommy" theme when trying to sell cold remedies.

Edit> It also happens in sitcoms.

Yeah or it's totally fake. Which I think it likely is.

I think so too.

I don't text. Do you spell out words in full, like that, when you text?

Do you even know what Islam says about women and our cycles?? It's not pretty. The only solution is the FINAL solution.

I'd say it's actually more uncomfortable for us to purchase them. I always feel like I'm making a "you better back off if you know what's good for you" announcement when I have them in my basket.

My hubby... obviously they're not for him so I don't see why he'd be embarrassed.

The thread of those texts confirms that ignorance, stupidity and the reinforcement of false attributes to genders is not limited to men alone. Nice job, Mum.

Science too hard for you? Try religion!

I don't know where the secrecy angle comes from...such products are openly advertised in print and on television. Anybody old enough will remember the huge problem with early tampons and "toxic shock" syndrome with all the media attention that entailed. The "secret" was out.

Tampons also added small cardboard or plastic tubes to the litter waste stream, begging for an answer to "what is that?" Far from being embarrassed, most males are curious about the products and their biological application. I still haven't figured out how women avoid urinating on "the string"...must be a learned skill.

Women think that their hygiene products are taboo, but most women don't even know that most men use dick-wipes, we just don't tell you, nor do you know where we buy them or store them in the house.
