America under President Trump

Good for him. The players are the ones who invited politics into the game.

I'm sure you'd be A-OK with JT wasting a quarter of a mil to make a stupid political statement.

It's ironic how it is to make a protest about racial inequality all about your fake patriotism. Especially coming from Trump who's being bankrolled by Russia. He's not a patriot at all.

Bet you can't.

“I asked @VP Pence to leave stadium if any players kneeled, disrespecting our country,” Trump wrote. “I am proud of him and @SecondLady Karen.”

While the vice president portrayed his decision as a gesture of patriotic principle, it had the distinct appearance of a well-planned, if costly, political stunt. He doubled back from a trip to the West Coast to take a seat in the stands in Indianapolis, where the 49ers — the team most associated with the N.F.L. protest movement against racial injustice — were suiting up to play the Colts.

How many more would you like?

Classic obfuscation. Classic derangement syndrome. Classic dishonesty from the left.

As with Omni, no where does he gloat about this beibg a stunt.

And how you conclude I'm  happy JT wastes tax dollars is a mystery.

He instructed him to leave if a player kneeled. The odds of that happening was high. It's a stunt. They never planned on staying. And going to game between two crappy team on the taxpayer dime is a waste regardless.

As for JT, you wouldn't be happy. If you were a fiscal conservative in the US, you shouldn't be happy about this.

VP Pence's actions were no more a "stunt" than are the actions of "protesting" NFL players.

The NFL players say that they are using their status and media opportunities to make a statement about police brutality,  but two can play at that game.

And it looks like the Trump/Pence team is losing badly.

The "stunting" NFL players are getting more pushback after Pence's "stunt":

Quote

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said emphatically that his players will stand for the national anthem and not disrespect the flag, and if they do, the player or players will not play.

"If there's anything that is disrespectful to the flag, then we will not play," Jones said

http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/20961541/dallas-cowboys-owner-jerry-jones-says-player-disrespects-flag-play

Protesting NFL players may have to "stunt" protest on their own dime and time....because ticket sales and television revenue are more important than their "stunts".

Colin Kaepernick is still an NFL free agent = unemployed

Prove causation instead of correlation.

I guess in Trump's world, you don't have to.

More and more people watch football via illegal streaming.

All sports and media, for that matter, are facing this. The idea of Neilson ratings are pretty primative actually.

As for Jones, lets see what happens if a star player had to sit because of this decision.

Sure, they'll just walk down the block and hire a few more NFL quality players.:P

Mr. Pence as an elected official was wise not to give credence to disrespect against the very country he works for.

Then don't go to the game. Are you really gullible enough to believe he planned to see the entire game?

If anything, what Pence did was super disrespectful to Peyton Manning, who was being honoured that game.

This LA Chargers photo does not lie....tickets sales are down for lots of reasons, including "stunting" players:

As for illegal streaming, Canadians are actually fighting for better Sunday Ticket access by canceling subscriptions to bad service from DAZN UK.

Gotta agree with the last 2 posts of Bush. That said I think had Trump not shot his mouth off against the kneeling it woulkd have run its course. I think he deliberatelyl used it as a distraction to other on-going issues and it galvanized his base of supporters. He knows how to wind up his followers make no mistake. He's playing the same game in reverse.

I don't consider kneeling a big deal. Turning your back on the flag, giving it a finger, refusing to come out for the anthem, maybe. Kneeling is actually a way to make a point without being too disrespectful, Its not a fist which some know doubt would have had a field day with.

That said it will spread to basketball, hockey and baseball if its not resolved and people like Trump don't lead they exploit divisions. He's a demagogue.

Again prove causation. The LA Chargers got moved to LA because the owner wanted San Diego to pay for a stadium and they wouldn't. There's no fan base in LA.

Of course what the players are doing is a stunt.

And taxpayers are funding their stunt with taxpayer funding for stadiums.

Stephen Ross renovated Hard Rock Stadium in Miami with his own money.

Some stadiums have received public funding some haven't. Not particularly relevant to this debate.
