GostHacked Posted May 17, 2015 Report Posted May 17, 2015 They are adults so I take them at their word and the words they are using are sexist and insulting. You can cut them slack if you want. I won't. You must get offended every time you are out in the public then. It's not something I would do, but then again throw a few drinks in me and well, those social safety switches turn off and I can (and have) been obnoxious. These are mostly DRUNKS that seem to be doing this. AFTER sports games. What comes out of politicians mouths offend me more than this. I hope South Park grabs a hold of this one. Would be a good one for them. Quote
Wilber Posted May 17, 2015 Report Posted May 17, 2015 Does intent not matter anymore? What does the person being victimized care about your intent? All you are trying to do is justify abuse. Quote "Never trust a man who has not a single redeeming vice". WSC

It was my decision to drink so I am responsible, not the booze. Drunkeness is not a defence under the law and it shouldn't be for anything else.In an interview, Hunt said she has even got this from guys in business suits. What the hell is the matter with you people? Have you no standards at all? This is just the monthly 'YOU KNOW WHAT REALLY GRIND MY GEARS? (insert social issue here)..' meme. Next month you will have something else to complain about with social behaviour. This FHRITP meme has been going on for a long time, and all of a sudden NOW people are offended? Only because it is getting more publicity? Otherwise you would not know about it and even care less about it. The more you get offended, the funnier this becomes to me. Lighten up, loosen up, stuff happens. Again, no one is being hurt, no cars are being trashed, no windows broken. Shrug it off and move on. I'll use the trolling analogy rules here, report it and don't respond to it. And well, this should be interesting to note if true .. it was a young news reporter that started the whole thing. Something something, irony. http://fhritp.com/about-fhritp/ *.* HER RIGHT IN THE *.* started on January 4th 2014 when a young reporter didn’t know that he was LIVE on the air when he told the camera man what he would do to a 20 year old missing woman if they ever found her as seen here. The reporter (John Cain) was fired as a result and the station was embarrassed. Video as evidence. A reporter started the meme, and now people get offended when it happens to reporters. Gotcha. Wilber Posted May 17, 2015 Report Posted May 17, 2015 Now they do know about it and they are saying they do care. You don't give a shit. I get that. Thanks for answering my question. Quote "Never trust a man who has not a single redeeming vice". WSC

You are right, I DON'T care nor give a shit. I look at it as public trolling and only the suckers are biting the bait. Quote

Wilber Posted May 17, 2015 Report Posted May 17, 2015 BTW. You should look up the definition of trolling. It isn't walking up to someone and shouting obscenities in their face. If you want to relate it to anything on the internet, flaming would be more accurate. Quote "Never trust a man who has not a single redeeming vice". WSC
GostHacked Posted May 17, 2015 Report Posted May 17, 2015 So short of torching cars and breaking windows you have no standards of public behaviour. Thanks. Actually my personal standards are quite high in regards to how I behave in public. I personally would not be partaking in this. I am not offended, nor will I be doing it in public. I am more offended when innocent people are injured and or killed via police brutality. And just as offended with people who excuse their behaviour. Quote
cybercoma Posted May 17, 2015 Report Posted May 17, 2015 What a ridiculous cliche! Sure , I think the dude making the vibrator comment should've been fired, but just because we don't get our panties in a knot overtime some screams "sexism", doesn't mean we are the problem. I place this in the category of "1st world problems". You don't "get your panties in a knot" because the sexism isn't directed at you, but the fact that you don't care and make excuses for this kind of boorish behaviour shows a blatant disregard for the well-being of the women in your life. GostHacked Posted May 17, 2015 Report Posted May 17, 2015 If your standards are so high, why are you such an apologist for those who do? Overall this is a non-concern to me. It's a petty issue. Just another social experiment to get people talking, or in this case, 'debating'. Things go viral fast with the Internet age. And I think that is the only real reason anyone is hearing about this. We get so offended by what drunk people say (usually most apologize for their rudeness of the night before once they realize what a jackass they were...). Yes I know you believe that being drunk is no excuse, but please tell me if you have not done anything remotely stupid while intoxicated. I can list a whole whack of stupid things I did when drunk out in public. And well, that's why I tend to not drink in public anymore! ... Seriously, we've all done things when we get a few drinks or 'other' in us that we are embarrassed about. Learn and move on. My standards seem low to you perhaps, maybe because I shrug this kind of thing off. Only some egos are being hurt with a few words directed at the audience without any real context of sexism. It's a non-issue in my view. I guess the term overall is not that offensive to me. Considering people could say something way more terrible on live TV, I am surprised (well not really) that this story is getting exposure from the likes of CBC. .... Now, I'll even support your part of the argument (since it seems that it was missed). That is was a reporter who started it AND with the context of finding a missing woman (possibly dead), in which he replies with ... So NOW you have some real context as to why this could be misogynist, sexist, whatever. However those who are blurting out the phrase on live TV are doing so without really knowing the context that brings to life this meme. Have you ever repeated anything that you did not know the context was? Quote
Wilber Posted May 17, 2015 Report Posted May 17, 2015 So where do you think this will lead? Do you really think this will end here? That the people pushing the limits with this won't push them even harder with their next stunt if people like you just shrug this off? Where is your limit? Is it really torchng cars and breaking widows? Quote "Never trust a man who has not a single redeeming vice". WSC

Did I really make make excuses? Or...did I just listen to what they said in the interview, and ask Wilbur if he did the same? I was interested in the "why", but you guys seem to be willfully ignorant. Quote The trouble with our liberal friends is not that they're ignorant; it's just that they know so much that isn't so. - Ronald Reagan I have said that the Western world is just as violent as the Islamic world - Dialamah Europe seems to excel at fooling people to immigrate there from the ME only to chew them up and spit them back. - Eyeball Unfortunately our policies have contributed to retarding and limiting their (Muslim's) society's natural progression towards the same enlightened state we take for granted. - Eyeball

Smallc Posted May 17, 2015 Report Posted May 17, 2015 So where do you think this will lead? Do you really think this will end here? Nowhere, and yes. This isn't the first time people have offended, and it won't be the last. Quote
