Is it too late for predictions? (polls close in about 9 hours). NDP minority and both right wing parties form coalition to prevent the horrors of Alberta's first socialist regime - including the first opportunity to shine light under program rocks in 44 years, resulting in the need for several new white collar prisons.

Isn't democracy wonderful?

First? Hmm. I guess you're not big on history.

I love the rabid right wingers on this site predicting economic disaster for Alberta..... while ignoring that the PCs have given away the resources for nothing.

NDP should bring some balance to the severely skewed policies, if they win.

I wonder when the NDP will shut down the oil sands. The NDP always called them the tar sands. Will that stay the same?

Please provide a cite of the ALBERTA NDP referring to "tar sands".

I think in four years Alberta will not be able too afford a lot of things.

It'll be a long time before Alberta can cry 'poor':

http://www.workopolis.com/content/saskatchewan/article/how-much-canadians-are-earning-by-province/

Albertans are doing the best with a median family income of $92,300. Saskatchewan comes in second place with$77,300, followed by Ontario ($73,700) and British Columbia ($72,200). Families and individuals in Eastern Canada are earning much less ...

The Bob Rae years are not a stereotype. It was really a case of government killing business and over spending. These are facts.

No those are the myths.

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/second-reading/the-hidden-history-of-bob-raes-government-in-ontario/article1314254/?service=mobile

The considerable achievements of the government - often forgotten or dismissed -were wrought in the face of a deep recession and ferocious obstruction.

Good article. Check it out if you do want to get your facts straight.

Every curses the Mike Harris years but the last Ontario election Hudak blew it. Nobody ever gave serious thought to giving the NDP a chance.

Well they did, but even Andrea Horvath admitted her platform didn't work as planned, alienated her base, unfortunately.

B.C. ran from what should have been an NDP land slide last election because of the memories of the past.

You watch history repeat itself in Alberta

It will happen.

We're past the days of red-baiting.

This is all about the PCs and Wild Rose being really scuzzy politicians with their backroom dealing and corruption.

NDP is the protest vote, much like Quebec in the last federal election.... but it has led to a NDP majority in Alberta.

I'm glad none of my assets are in Alberta. I'm going to retire sooner than I thought and leave Canada. Liquidate my assets and leave. The bolshiviks have taken Canada. It's over. The socialists have won. In the fall Mulcair will be PM and further destroy the country. I'm glad I'm well off and can leave this hole.

Maybe Peru or Belize. Not sure yet. We liked both places in our travels.

What happened to the impending suicide?

The question in need of answering now; does the Federal NDP now get a bounce? On paper, though I disagree staunchly with his party, Mulcair has more credibility than Trudeau......will this translate into actually support nationally?

I guess you'll be keeping the car then?

Can't wait for Stephen Harper's reaction to this NDP majority. Happy days are here....

I think it will be gracious........If the NDP can win in conservative Alberta, why not the rest of Canada? Trudeau who?

Not likely... at least not a major bump. I don't see Alberta changing their federal vote much. This was a very local (Alberta) issue with the PCs and Wild Rose.

The NDP is the only party that's the same provincially and federally. It's certainly good advertising, but Rachel is going to have a lot of eyes on her for 6 months.

I'm not a socialist. Therefore I don't give to the poor. Let the poor help themselves. I provide to charity. Maybe you can ask them for a car.

At any rate. I won't retire to Canada. We may keep a condo here but will settle somewhere hot.

My wife thinks AB was due for a change. She doesn't believe AB is socialist just sending a message to the conservative parties.
