During the campaign, there was much reference to Obamacare and how it was a mistake.

I cannot see the Republicans trying to turn it back now. I cannot recollect an instance where a government removed a universal social program from the American public.

I think the Republicans will touch that issue.

The U.S. government has removed universal social programs in the past, an example being the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Act of 1996, which eliminated welfare aid to many families with dependent children in favor of work incentives. President Clinton signed the bill into law which was known as "welfare reform" and was part of the Republican Congress' "Contract with America".

I suspect this will be one issue where Obama will use his veto power if congress tries to repeal AHA. It's becoming too popular.

The closest it has come is 5 points less of the disapproval factor.

He can't fund anything new without Congress approval, or am I missing something?

Today, news said that Congress gave the Prez 4 Billion for the war and they have already gone through the first Billion, so that 5 Billion and counting.

Nope. He hasn't had that power since about 1974. He can though send bills back to congress, again, and again, and again.

Had what power since 1974?

I hear that the new crop in Congress includes Blood Moon kooks, anti-gay paranoids, Agenda 21 conspiracy theorists, people who are convinced that ISIS is invading the US through Mexico, and a dude who is convinced that Hilary Clinton is the Anti-Christ.

Naw, I think Kimmy pretty well covered all the winners. What exactly is "empty class warfare"?

It's when people complain about things like pro-rich policies instead of complaining about poor-people voting for Democrats.

Well then, at least it seems they are a diverse bunch of kooks. I would add that aside from one's assessment of Obama's performance to date, you'd have to admit he inherited the "agenda from hell" and he hasn't had a lot of breaks since. I bet in a way he's looking forward to the end of the gongshow.

President Obama wasted the first two years of his presidency expending political capital on the Affordable Care Act. He kept in place most of the policies of the previous administration for domestic and foreign issues, and in some cases doubled down (e.g. drone strikes in Pakistan, deportation of illegals, and tax cuts (now permanent)). That's why his base has abandoned him in job performance polls and his party suffered by association in the mid term election.

Post of the day. He's a lame duck walking and has been for some time, and now that Putin knows he can have his way with Ukraine, what's to stop China or anybody else from taking liberties where they see fit? Obama's red line and back pedalling has made the US into the weird uncle the family politely ignores at family functions.

How does this even happen in a civilized society? It's inconceivable. Especially considering these people don't even hide their idiocy.

There's no such thing as pro rich policies! Just because the Republicans keep trying to cut taxes on the rich, and inheritance taxes and corporate taxes while at the same time cutting pensions, welfare, sudent loans and unemployment that doesn't mean they're pro rich!

I mean, how could you even think it did!?

Billions of dollars in advertising? Gerrymandering to the point where basically ANYONE who's Republican will be elected, and politics which for a large part of the electorate particularly the Republican part consists almost entirely of God Guns and Gays.

If you love God and guns and hate taxes, fags, and abortion, you can basically get elected in most Republican strongholds no matter how wacky your other views are. Cheat on your wife, beat your kids, steal from the government, commit arson, it really doesn't matter.

These are whole communities which simply do not think like us. You know, there was a documentary on gays in Russia last night. Really wierd to look at. But the salient point was that, as the commentator says in showing one particular guy obsessed with getting gays or anyone sympathetic to them fired, his views are not considered extreme in Russia. Gays are widely despised and hated, period. If gangs beat them up, even kill them, well, the Russian man on the street will just shrug without a care. Pretty much serves thenm right, will be his view.
