Not according to numerous eyewitnesses. And you only have to look at the scene pictures widely shown on TV to understand he was quite a ways from the police vehicle when he was shot, and he was unarmed.

As I said....it clearly depends on what is found out after an investigation……..If the officer is found of wrong doing, that is not an indictment against all police officers……

Not individually perhaps, but I think the discussion of the militarization of the local police is something that will be ongoing and hopefully will come to some better outcomes than what they have their now. Unfortunately it seems to be crossing the border into Canada somewhat.

What militarization? Members of the police wearing Nomex uniforms, ballistic plate carriers, safety glasses and helmets?

Oh no...scary ! Just like in August of 1968 in Chicago (Democrat National Convention):

In Canada?

It's slowly happening here. We ca look back at the G20 and check out how some of those cops were kitted out.

Of course it makes them paramilitary. What the hell else would it make them? Whatever happenned to "to serve and protect" ?

It's to serve and protect the state. Not you the individual.

Right then, let the state pay them. If they're not here for me I'll just deduct the amount from my taxes that pays their salary.

You already paid for the lot of it. Most new kit the police are using, like the MRAP, military vehicles. Urban warfare in the streets of the USA. Home of the free.

But, you are right, we should stop paying taxes overall. The money is not being spent well obviously. If you need to militarize your police, you have failed in proper governance of and service to the people. Something really messed up has taken place for the cops to become Gestapo-esque.

And look how the media has jumped on this. There have got to be other incidents like this almost every day in the great land of the free. But why is this one getting so much publicity?

Also can we drop the whole 'African-American' bit? They are black Americans. Many far detached from Africa.

So serving and protecting means killing unarmed teenagers?

We don't know the details of what happened. What you say might be completely true. Or it might be the exact opposite. So stop pretending that we do.

They have posted numerous crime scene photos oin various networks. You don't have to be Dick Tracy to see from just those that there was no need to shoot this boy.

Crime scene photos don't give us the details of the events leading up to the shooting, or even the details of the event at large. It's reckless to say and think so.

Pretty much....remember all the excitement over the Trayvon Martin case...Zimmerman was acquitted.

We don't know what occured at the police car. We do know he was running away from the car when shot. We know he didn't have a gun. Either his own or one he took from the cop.

Exactly. Until everything is known, you're just jumping to conclusions, and spreading inconclusive opinion. There is a right of innocence before proven guilty. The legal process will play out. Stop trying to take away people's rights, over your emotions and opinions on a small portion of information.

OK, wanna talk about rights? If the black kid had of shot the white cop, do you think we'd not know his name yet? HA Ha

We probably would. But the only reason this particular cop's identity is being withheld, is for safety. He'd probably be dead by now. Possibly his family too.

Luckily they had enough brains down there to take out the red neck military style steroid soaked gonks off line and brought in a more sensible police force who shed the army vehicles and riot gear and things are now returning to normal. Take a lesson.

So, another example of why police should be wearing cameras and microphones that capture the evidence of what and what didn't happen.

This should have been standard protocol for police forces just about everywhere by now. It is after all the year 20 freaking 14.

A government without public oversight is like a nuclear plant without lead shielding.
