Can you link some of these 10 pages discussion, or are you just being ridiculous?

You could start at the beginning of this thread and read from there.

And there is a difference between getting suspended for a day and getting suspended for a month - 26 times.

Correct.

Our modus operandi is simple:

1st infraction yields a warning

2nd infraction yields a 2nd warning with a threat of suspension for a 3rd infraction

3rd infraction yields a 1 day suspension

4th infraction yields a 1 week suspension

5th infraction yields a 1 month suspension

and then we lose count. We only have 2 hands each and 1 of them has to type.

When mod staff posts a general warning inside the thread to alert folks to refrain from violating a particular rule, our tolerance drops. We count that as an extra warning.

If a member rises above any general trolling and posts a request to his fellow members to refrain from feeding trolling, our tolerance drops like a stone.

The power is in your hands, folks.

I have noticed that too often a mod has to intercede and post:

"Folks,

Avoid personal attacks".

It takes at least two posters to get involved in personal attacks. I suggest that the mods keep track of who is involved and note there is one common poster to most of these "personal attacks" instances - then get rid of him.

Note - For those expecting a response from Big Guy: I generally do not read or respond to posts longer then 300 words nor to parsed comments.

No, it does not.

I am not sure how to debate that disagreement.

Not sure why this post is in the Canadian Politics > Federal Politics forum area. Is it because Canada is "whiter" than the United States ?

Next time, press the Report button to let us know.

Kimmy is not a righty, nor is she a mod.

She's not socially conservative and she's not foaming at the mouth crazy, sure, but she's more right-of-centre than left and while you may disagree with my assessment you certainly can't classify her as the dreaded biased lefty moderator that your type has been complaining about for the last decade or so. That was my point.

As for her formal status, you're right, but it gets confusing. Forum Facilitator seems to get used interchangeably used with moderator. Even from her:

USA! USA!

I'm recusing myself for the time being, but I if I was half the moderator I was 5 weeks ago I'd take a flamethrower to this shit.

Is that an infraction for the same offense, or over-all infraction?

Same offense.

Is the Admin, Greg, still around?

Yes.

Welcome to the forum.

Do not worry about the distinction between Moderator and Facilitator as it pertains to Kimmy's role.

I suggest you simply treat her as 2nd in line in the event that Mike and I both get hit by a bus.

Out of curiosity, what rule did Squid and ?impact break on the Paul Ryan thread? Both posts seemed on topic to me but they're gone.

And I'm not worried about Kimmy, Charles. Just clarifying for Argus who seemed to be nitpicking as opposed to addressing the jist of my post.

It is American rhetoric and euphemism for summary punishment....from a film released in 1967.

Incorrect. It is Canadian rhetoric and euphemism for a penalty in hockey.

2 (or 5) minutes in the box, and a night in the box have entirely different connotations.

Totally different games, but the same principle. Two minutes in the box here wouldn't be punishment at all. A night in the box in a hockey game would be pretty serious.

....by implying that anyone who isn't on the left or in the moderate middle is " foaming at the mouth crazy". Brilliant!!

You're every bit as guilty of partisan pigeon-holing and rhetoric as anyone. Seems a bit hypocritical maybe?

Kimmy obviously has her biases as we all do, I've agreed with her and disagreed with her on topics in the past. I think she's doing a great job in her current role despite wails of disapproval from certain individuals at certain times.

Um, I was implying she's not a hyper partisan wing nut but I'm not sure how you read that as anyone who is not a lefty is a wing nut. No, rest assured left has wing nuts too. Several here in fact.

Your logic is fallacious or your reading comprehension sucks. Not sure.

My suggestion was that you keep track of those who initiate and try to stir up trouble. I have seen many posters REACT to an insult with an insult and then both get a warning and posts disappear. I suggest that if A and B were involved in personal attacks and A and C got involved in personal attacks and A and D got involved in personal attacks then it is very easy to spot where the problem is originating - give A a holiday. That kind of stat is very easy to keep track of and would solve some of the problems.

Oh, sorry for the misunderstanding..

So just to be clear, there's lefty wing nut, left wing biased, moderate centre left/right, and foaming at the mouth. Got it. I agree with you, all the moderators here tend to be somewhat centre/left wing biased, with the exception of Kimmy who is likely moderate right. There are no mods foaming at the mouth.

My perception is that certain people take offense whenever anyone disagrees with their opinions, immediately resort to insults, and then play the innocent, as if none of it were their fault. As in B says something hypocritical. A points out how hypocritical it is, and then B starts insulting A while proclaiming himself above the fray.
