They are useful. I'd love to see Harper and JT go toe to toe in a debate. But this far ahead of an election, it can only be harmful. Voters will only remember screw ups.

Should be mildly interesting but the big guns wont get shown yet, too far from election day.

What I want to know is, why the hell is the campaign so long when a Federal one is far far shorter? This election here should have been closed until July 1st at the most.

Everything I've heard says RoFo won. Tory apparently went after Chow hard and she didn't stand up well.

But since we're on the subject, I wonder how people determine that Ford won. It sounds like he stuck to the same shopworn talking points he's been using since he got caught hitting the pipe. Nothing new there.

Got him elected the first time. I guess it's more of how the other candidates were able to attack him. If he can simply say "Stop talking about my personal life, let's talk about my record" and they can't successfully attack that then there's problems.

Again, I've only heard highlights. But what I heard from Chow was very unimpressive, Sonacki sounded stronger.

She had a canned shot at Tory chirping at him about his Women playing golf comment and it fell completely flat.

Even the Star admits RoFo won.

I think the way around that is to point out that when the mayor is missing work to hang out with known drug dealers, then there's no longer a separation between the personal and political lives. An dthen they can attack his shit record.

Dimanno, tho.

None of them want to fire the big shot at Mayor Slim , too early and gives him plenty of time to recover.

It played as I thought it would, they would skirt Fords idiocy and stick to the issues apart from his issues.

When he perp walks this summer then they can attack.

Not according to any polls done after the debate.

It's funny that right wingers are claiming that all she did was attack Fords freek show circus (personal attacks), when in fact, right wingers rely heavily on this tactic?!?!?!?

Sounds like the Ford camp has become all holier than holy and feel that past antics as public intoxication and public urination has no bearing in this election, therefore is taboo for any candidate to mention.

And reasonably, those on the left are not impressed that Chow is taking this tactic so commonly used by the right!

This will keep the right wingers at home or drive them to the Tory camp, but come election day, remind the lefties, do you really want to see more Ford!

Chow gives a rat's ass about what the pundits may say this early on!

She's right on target to winning another one.

I think Chow tipped her hand a bit when she outright rejected privatization of garbage collection east of Yonge Street. That's one of Ford's policies that does have broad appeal.

I suspect she'll be attacked on going forward. Tory's strength is that he seems to have practical ways to cut government waste, unlike Ford who just says he does.

Any reason this requires a separate thread from the general TO election thread?

The threads are now merged.

Agreed. However, I suspect Tory's biggest problem will be that Ford will steal some of the conservative vote possibly letting Chow slide in.

Well Mrs. Dreadlocks, Sarah Thompson has jumped into the race, so that could split the vote on the left. Although she quit early in 2010 to throw whatever support she had to Smitherman.

Pfft. She's a nonfactor. If she sticks it out, I'd be genuinely shocked if she landed more than 1% of the vote.

Here's one of the biggest reason's why Ford isn't getting re-elected!

If anyone here think's that the GLBT community isn't going to be knocking on doors and pouring in donations, you have never seen how politics works around Toronto!

Good luck Rob "urinating in public" Ford!

Comments:

There's a pretty big anti-Chow faction in Toronto.

Isn't it LGBT ?

Reasons, plural, no apostrophe

Thinks, verb, no apostrophe

What does this comment mean?

Would there be some kind of link that can help explain this?

There's a CBC link out there for this event that happened but I'll pass on that one because you get a better look at the actual signs on this on.

The correct way to punctuate those words is "reasons" and "thinks", I'm saying.

Oh here we go now, I believe the term I'm looking for is "grammar nazi"!

Thanks for correcting me. But don't expect me to become an English scholar. So if you're going to continue, this is going to get real old!

Try learning Mandarin Chinese, then we'll have a talk about our linguistic abilities!

Ya I guess it's LGBT?

Actually is there anything in that comment that is about the LGBT community being anti Chow or is this all about grammar? Because if there isn't, then don't bother responding back.
